Chapter 385
Ariel actually found it funny.
Now that Nancy was neck–deep in trouble, Jayson finally picked up the phone to call her. Normally, he would have Colton reach out, like he was afraid she would get hold of his number.
But suddenly, he didn’t seem to mind anymore.
It was obvious Jayson was just trying to smooth things over for Nancy, hoping Ariel would drop the charges.
Ariel couldn’t even be bothered to entertain that kind of call
“Who was that?” Janice asked, puzzled.
Chad glanced over too.
Ariel replied, casual as ever. “Jayson.”
At that name, Janice shot to her feet in outrage. “Oh, now he wants to call? When Faye Tech was under fire, and you were being dragged into the spotlight and sued by Veyo, he couldn’t even be bothered to check in!”
He didn’t even show his face.
But the moment Nancy was involved, he came running. The double standard was too obvious.
“It doesn’t matter,” Ariel said, not bothering with details like that. She glanced at the time. “Has everyone at Veyo been questioned?”
Chad flipped through some files and nodded. “It’s underway. Our team’s cooperating fully. We’ve submitted records dating back five years, including both the original and optimized versions. That alone is enough to completely disprove the plagiarism accusation.
“The next step is to pursue Veyo for illegally obtaining trade secrets and committing defamation and infringement.”
All of this was no small matter. Otherwise, Jayson wouldn’t have made that call himself.
With criminal charges involved, even the slightest misstep could land Nancy in prison. Naturally, they couldn’t just sit back and do nothing.
Ariel had never planned to let this slide.
By using herself as bait, she pushed Veyo Solutions into moving faster. They rushed to press charges against her and release multiple statements across different platforms.
The surge in views and shares could all be used as evidence of their attempt to damage Faye Technologies‘ reputation and harm its interests.
Given the seriousness of the offense, the sentence could easily be around two years.
Over the next two days, Faye Technologies continued working closely with the police.
During that time, Nancy tried calling, but Chad ignored it.
She later called Chad and Faye Technologies‘ front desk and secretarial department using Veyo Solutions‘ company line.
However, Ariel had made her stance clear. Every call went unanswered.

If Nancy had something to say, she could bring it to court.
As for Jayson, he clearly got the message. He never called again. Ariel also didn’t care what he was planning now.
Meanwhile, a few of the companies that had previously canceled their contracts came crawling back, begging to resume their partnerships. They even offered to double the patent fees.
Ariel didn’t bother responding.
Chad handled them and firmly stated that there would be no further collaboration.
By the next afternoon, Ariel got a call from the police. They informed her that there had been progress and needed her to come in.
Chad stayed back to hold things down at Faye Technologies. Janice went with Ariel.
It wasn’t until Ariel saw Seth in the interrogation room that it all clicked for her. He was the source of the problem.
If she hadn’t seen him again today, she might have completely forgotten he even existed.
Now the whole sequence made sense.
Janice was on the verge of losing her temper, but Ariel stopped her. They would proceed strictly according to
procedure.
“He’s the leak? How the hell did he even know?” Janice looked puzzled.
But Seth’s motive was obvious.
Faye Technologies had launched such a breakthrough system not long after he jumped ship to Veyo Solutions. For someone with a self–serving mindset, it was something he couldn’t accept.
Ariel frowned slightly as the memory came back. “Late last year, I walked our tech department through the practical use of this code. I used the base version as an example during the session, so that’s how he ended up knowing part of it.”
