Ariel was momentarily speechless. It took her a couple of seconds to process what Samson had just said.
To her, it came out of nowhere. She barely knew Samson, and they hadn’t even met that many times. And now, he was suddenly expressing interest?
Samson said, “I just meant that if you need anything, you can just call me. After all, being in a foreign country can be a hassle. Don’t feel pressured by my words. Don’t let it affect your judgment, and don’t feel uneasy.
“Just interact with me in whatever way feels most comfortable to you. Alright then, Ariel. Let’s talk next time.”
Samson spoke at an even pace, but there was a quiet intensity in his words. He made no effort to hide how he felt.
Before Ariel could rack her brain for a polite way to turn him down without making things awkward, he hung up on his own.
It felt like he simply wanted to let her know how he felt without expecting any response from her right now.
Ariel stared at the screen, still a little stunned.
Samson had feelings for her? Since when?
Across the table, Chad was stunned, his glass of water still hovering near his lips.
“So he did have an agenda! I knew it. He was way too friendly from the start.”
Now that he thought about it, something had felt off from the very first time they met.
Ariel didn’t exactly find Samson’s feelings for her hard to understand. She was just a little surprised by how open
he was about it.
Growing up, even back in school, she had never lacked admirers. She had always known her looks drew attention. After that, Lucas laid down the law of no talking to guys and no dating.
Even in college, she still had plenty of admirers from other departments.
But after stepping into marriage and later settling into her role at Bluum Corp’s PR department, things changed. She interacted with all kinds of people, but no one ever pursued her again.
And now, out of nowhere, Samson expressed his interest.
It caught her off guard.
“So? What do you think?” Chad asked. “You’re divorced now. A second chance of such high quality doesn’t come often. Might be worth a shot.”
He was almost pleased.
From his male perspective, he figured Samson was exactly the type young woman who would go crazy for.
On the surface, he seemed clean–cut and straightforward, but underneath, there was a sharp edge to him, especially in how boldly he expressed himself.
When he liked someone, he just said it without beating around the bush.
Honestly, with that kind of sincerity, who wouldn’t be drawn to someone unafraid to show love openly?
Ariel didn’t feel particularly bothered. She shook her head. “I’m not thinking about that now. I’ll talk to him when we get back.”

Besides, she hardly had the time for romance right now. Her work and health were already more than enough to worry about.
Chad chuckled. “I’ve got to say, Mr. Pryce is pretty impressive. He’s only 23, young and accomplished. And he’s a rare kind of genius. The moment he came back to the country, he immediately landed a management role at Yeager Group. That’s no small feat. And let’s not forget, he’s easy on the eyes and in great shape.”
Ariel shot him a look. “Don’t you worry about me. Maybe start thinking about your own love life.”
Chad wasn’t lacking in admirers either, but he never seemed interested. No one knew what exactly he was holding out for.
He hissed. “Damn, you really know how to hit where it hurts.”
Ariel didn’t dwell on it.
Romance between adults came with all kinds of extra layers. It wasn’t like being a teenager, where liking someone had to be loud and dramatic and come with a label. Grown–ups made decisions more practically.
She would have a proper talk with Samson once she got back, just so things didn’t get dragged out unnecessarily.
Besides, she had a feeling a guy like Samson, at his age, probably just got curious and acted on impulse.
They kept lunch simple.
When they were done, Ariel stood up.
Chad grabbed the huge bouquet he had just bought for her.
Only the single flower that the little girl had handed over earlier remained on the table. Ariel didn’t touch it, nor did she spare it a glance.
