Chapter 443
The second Zach saw the headline, he tapped in immediately.
It was a screen recording from a live stream. The footage showed Nancy’s face just as Jayson’s voice came through loud and clear. “This is my wife, Ariel Walker.”
Jayson didn’t appear on camera, but Nancy did, and her expression was unmistakable. The color drained from her face in an
instant.
The clip had been reposted so many times that the video quality had noticeably degraded.
Zach scrolled through the comments. There were already thousands of them.
What stood out about the video was how Jayson calmly and openly took the initiative to acknowledge his wife, while showing no connection to Nancy at all.
Most of the comments were questioning whether Nancy had tried to pull something but failed.
Even people who didn’t know who Nancy was could recognize Jayson in a heartbeat.
As the heir of a top–tier family, every company and investment Jayson touched thrived. He was already a well–known figure in the financial world. On top of that, he had once appeared in an interview that went viral due to his looks and overall presence, which easily rivaled that of a celebrity.
Even now, random photos of him could easily rake in hundreds of thousands of likes across platforms, all thanks to that killer face and body.
So when this video blew up, it was no surprise that public interest exploded with it.
But the only thing captured in the clip was Jayson’s calm statement about his wife. There was nothing inappropriate about it.
In the end, all the backlash ended up directed at Nancy.
Zach checked the trending list, confused. “Why hasn’t the Larkin family shut this down yet?”
Nancy had seen it too.
Even with the strongest resolve, she couldn’t help but feel breathless with frustration when she saw some of the comments.
Yesterday’s stream hadn’t made any waves. But tonight, it suddenly went viral, and her face had even been exposed.
She took a deep breath. This wasn’t going to be easy to clean up.
She immediately called Jayson, but he didn’t pick up, so she tried Colton.
He answered, “Yes, Ms. Stanton?”
“Where’s Jayson? I need to speak to him.”
Colton seemed to be in the middle of work as he replied, “Mr. Larkin is in the middle of an international video not available at the moment. You might need to wait until it wraps up.”
Frowning, Nancy tightened her grip on the phone. “How long is that going to take?”
“I’m not sure yet,” Colton replied honestly.
Her temples throbbed, but she knew better than to expect an international meeting to end on command.
“Please let me know the moment he’s free.”
“Of course, Ms. Stanton.”

Nancy stared at her screen for a long while. Jayson was buried in work and probably hadn’t even seen what was happening online. The clip was blowing up at the worst possible moment.
Every passing second felt suffocating to her.
However, she couldn’t contain this on her own. She would have to wait for Jayson to step in and clean it up.
Meanwhile, Sarah had gotten the cold shoulder too.
Today was supposed to be a casual get–together with a few society wives. But when she showed up, she was told at the last minute that the gathering was canceled. Yet, she had clearly seen one of their cars still parked outside.
That lit a fire in her gut.
Sarah had fought her way up and knew exactly what was going on
In high society, the men had their roles, but the wives‘ network was its own battlefield.
They usually bonded over tea and spa days, keeping up friendly appearances. But during those moments, they were constantly exchanging information about each other’s families and quietly handling matters the men couldn’t address directly.
Everyone had their own agenda.
One thing that united them was their unanimous stance against homewreckers, mistresses, gold diggers, and the like.
Nothing stayed secret forever. Word must have reached the wives‘ circle.
