Jayson didn’t carry on with what he and Lucas were discussing earlier. After spotting Wendy, Jayson went his way and entered the private room.
Lucas directed his gaze to Wendy. “What are you doing out here?”
Wendy moved toward Lucas and circled her arms around his waist What were you guys talking about?”
Lacas dropped his gaze and looked at her. “Are you sure you want to know?”
To Wendy’s surprise, Lucas couldn’t even be bothered to keep it from her. The smile on her face froze.
Lucas wasn’t going to waste time explaining himself. He lightly patted Wendy’s back. “I’m going out for a smoke.”
Wendy watched as Lucas pulled away from her embrace and walked off. In the end, she managed to suppress the urge to ask him the question that had been bothering her for a long time.
Nancy noticed Jayson the instant he entered the room. She raised her hand and waved at him. “Jayson, over here.”
Jayson turned his gaze toward her and walked over to where she was.
Matt was there chatting with Nancy. He spotted Jayson too. “We finally managed to get you to join us today. Have you discussed the situation with Ariel? I think you should perhaps remind her to avoid making any unfavorable comments about Nancy for the time being.”
After all, people would surely try to ask and find out more details from Ariel following the incident.
Jayson sat down and cast a glance at him. “She wouldn’t.”
Nancy seemed really grateful as she gazed at him. “Jayson, sorry for all the trouble.”
Frankly, the situation might not have gotten so out of hand if she hadn’t said anything about proposing to him that day. “It’s fine.” Jayson replied calmly, “Was everything alright during the past few days? Did you encounter any issues?”
Nancy hesitated briefly before shaking her head. “They were just minor issues. You don’t have to worry about it.”
She would most likely face similar situations again, like what had happened earlier that day. However, Nancy was determined to prove herself to those people by showing them her true potential.
“Okay.” Jayson didn’t try to pressure her for more details.
It was quite rowdy in the room. Nancy scooted closer toward Jayson and leaned forward slightly.
“Our team has been busy handling various issues during the past few days. I’m considering taking a vacation and taking a break once things have settled down for a bit. Can you come with me? We could visit a local spot or somewhere abroad.”
Nancy just realized that she and Jayson had never gone on a trip together without others tagging along.
Matt grinned upon hearing her words. “Even a major incident like this isn’t going to stop you guys from executing your date plans, huh?”
Jayson put down his glass. “Okay, sure.”
The corners of Nancy’s eyes crinkled as she looked at Jayson and smiled softly.
When Ariel arrived at the office the next morning, she spotted Zach, who was discussing a few matters with Chad.
She only glanced at Zach briefly while she informed Chad regarding her latest progress. Then, Ariel turned around and went into

her office.
She didn’t bother greeting Zach. Ariel made it painfully obvious that she was ignoring him.
When he saw Ariel, Zach stood up and was about to call out her name. Yet, Ariel didn’t pay him any attention. Zach could feel his cheeks burning.
He was finally facing the bitter consequences of his past actions.
“Mr. Quinton, do you perhaps have something you wish to say to Ms. Walker?” Chad said unhurriedly. He could roughly tell how Zach probably felt at the moment.
Zach picked up on the slightly mocking tone in Chad’s voice. He came to inquire about some technical issues related to Paye Technologies‘ patented flight control system that day.
Also, Zach thought he could perhaps speak to Ariel in person. Yet, that clearly wasn’t going to happen.
“Mr. Hockney, if you don’t mind me asking… Have you always known about Ms. Walker’s marital status?“,
Chad could see how curious and frustrated Zach was. His brows arched. “Did you think I was someone who was lusting for Ari so much that I chose to disregard everything else just to be with her?”
For a moment, Zach’s face flushed scarlet. Then, he grew pale.
“I’m sorry. I had some misunderstanding previously. I didn’t mean to say those things to Ms. Walker. It’s just that…”
“It’s just that Mr. Larkin seems so willing to do anything for Nancy Anyone could tell that the two of them had a loving relationship, whereas Ari just seemed like someone completely uninvolved. Am I right?” Chad had an icy look in his eyes as he
said that.
