With one hand in his pocket, Jayson stood next to the railing and leaned against it. It almost seemed like he had merely stumbled upon two strangers talking as he directed his gaze to Ariel and Samson.
Samson noticed Jayson as well. He turned around and asked straightforwardly, “Have you heard what we were talking about, Mr. Larkin?”
Jayson ended the phone call just then.
He put away his phone and gazed at the two people standing side by side. His eyes were devoid of emotion.
It was hard to tell what Jayson was thinking with how he always managed to suppress his emotions.
Samson felt that he hadn’t said anything wrong.
Even though he was married, Jayson didn’t try to hide his relationship with Nancy. Even when people were all gossiping about them, Jayson acted as if nothing had happened and attended this event with her.
Moreover, Ariel was here too.
Jayson was obviously a heartless man. He didn’t bother to treat the matter seriously. It was either the love Ariel or that he didn’t care if Ariel would suffer because of this.

Samson curled his lips. He looked straight into Jayson’s eyes. “Mr. Larkin, I think it’s pretty fair that I’ve confessed my feelings to Ariel. After all, you have a close friend like Ms. Stanton.”
Ariel was surprised to hear those sharp, caustic remarks Samson had made.
Jayson stared at Samson and said flatly, “You should go on with what you were talking about. I need to take another call.”
He showed no interest in asking for more details. Jayson didn’t even bother reacting to Samson’s words. It was as if Ariel were completely unrelated to him.
Jayson calmly averted his gaze. He turned around and took another call. Then, Jayson headed downstairs.
Ariel knew how Jayson probably thought this had nothing to do with him. Naturally, he wouldn’t meddle in these affairs or try to express his stance.
Samson frowned as he watched Jayson move out of his sight.
He turned his eyes to Ariel. “Sorry. Did I cause you more trouble with what I just said?”
Ariel shook her head. “It’s fine. By the way, I still have the same stance. It has nothing to do with whether I’m married or not.”
She gave a slight nod. Then, Ariel turned around and went looking for Janice.
Samson slowly sighed as he watched Ariel’s receding figure. He seemed to have acted a bit too rashly.
It was just that he couldn’t help but feel irked whenever he saw Jayson and Nancy together.
When she saw Ariel coming over, Janice hurried toward her and asked, “What happened? What did you two talk about upstairs?
“I saw Jayson coming down from upstairs. Did you guys run into each other just now? When I was watching you and Mr. Pryce from behind, the way he looked at you was so intense…”

Ariel decided not to hide it from her. “He confessed his feelings for me.”
After a pause, she added, “Jayson saw what happened.”
Janice’s eyes widened. “Things got that exciting?”

Samson confessed his feelings for Ariel even though it had been revealed to everyone that she was Jayson’s wife.
Ariel pondered for a moment. “He’s probably a little upset after seeing how Jayson has taken Nancy here. He didn’t know that I had already gotten divorced. So, he probably feels bad for me?”
Ariel reckoned that was probably the case.
“That means he must really like you! Don’t people say that you’ll care a lot about a person’s feelings if you like them a lot? He probably thinks you’re facing a really awful situation.”
Janice had little to no experience in dating. Yet, she had learned a lot about love and romance through watching all sorts of romance dramas.
Ariel didn’t dwell on the matter for too long.
Janice swiftly organized her thoughts and asked Ariel the question she was the most curious about. “How Jayson react, then? He realizes how popular you are now, right?”
Ariel shook her head. “He didn’t react or say much.”
For a moment, Janice could feel a lump in her throat. She was at a loss for what to say.
Just imagining what happened was enough to make Janice feel extremely frustrated. Jayson was clearly showing how he didn’t care about Ariel at all.
It probably wasn’t the same for Ariel since she was the person involved. If others were to witness that moment, they would probably realize how sad and miserable Ariel’s situation had been for the past few years.
Nevertheless, Janice pushed back her anger. She kept her thoughts to herself, not wanting to upset Ariel. However, Ariel didn’t care what was happening. She continued to quietly admire the artworks.
