Chapter 47
Ariel hurried into a fine dining restaurant, where reservations were required every day.
The moment she entered, she saw a furious Janice and a disheveled Lori sitting across from each other.
“What’s going on?” Ariel’s expression immediately turned cold. She approached to see if Janice was hurt and noticed the red marks on Janice’s neck.
Lori spoke first, “You’re truly cut from the same cloth! Both unreasonable shrews!”
Janice stood up. “You think you’re in the right?”
Through gritted teeth, she said, “If I hadn’t come here for lunch, I wouldn’t have known that your father brought his illegitimate daughter to meet Jayson! She’s trying to turn him from a brother–in–law into a lover! How shameless!”
Janice had overheard their conversation in the private room when she arrived.
Morgan had introduced Lori to Jayson, wanting her to “learn” from him. What could she possibly learn? How to please a man?
Lori knew Janice had no filter, and hearing her shout like that was a bit embarrassing. Annoyed, she stepped forward. “Watch your words!”
Ariel stepped in front of Janice. She was shocked. She hadn’t expected Morgan to disregard her like this.
She wasn’t loved or valued by Jayson. As a father, not only did he not worry about her, but he had actually betrayed her.
After taking a deep breath, Ariel looked at Lori with a frosty expression. “No matter what, if you hurt someone, you should apologize.”
Lori sneered. “Ariel, if I were you, I’d be too ashamed to show my face! You’ve sold your dignity to marry Mr. Larkin, but you still can’t win his heart. He hates you. Shouldn’t you reflect on yourself?”
Jayson didn’t like her looks, and he didn’t even want to sleep with her. Ariel was such a failure. What was the point of living?
Ariel’s eyes were ice–cold as she met Lori’s taunt. “Looks like you’ve won his heart.”
Lori’s face stiffened for a moment. “You actually care?”
“Why should I? It’s you Sandersons who have lost all shame. Do you need me to announce to the world that you want two women to share a man in today’s society?” Ariel let out a mocking laugh.
“Ariel, have you no shame? We’re doing this for you!”
Morgan emerged from the private room and looked at Ariel with a disappointed look.
Since when did she become so aggressive? She had completely lost her sense of decency.
Ariel glanced in his direction.
Jayson was standing there with a poised posture like an outsider. As he looked at her, his brows furrowed. He was clearly irritated.
Chapter 47
Next to him stood Matt, who seemed eager to watch the drama unfold.
Today was supposed to be a casual lunch with Nancy. Before Nancy arrived, they unexpectedly ran into Morgan, who insisted on joining them.
What started as a simple lunch quickly escalated into this mess.
The Sandersons really were something else.
Ariel avoided Jayson’s gaze and talked to Morgan with a biting tone, “So you still know what shame is. I thought you had lived long enough to have lost any sense of it, Mr. Sanderson.”
Morgan shook his head in disappointment, then helplessly glanced at Jayson. “I’m sorry, Mr. Larkin. It’s my fault for raising my daughter poorly. Ariel takes after her mother. Both of them are extreme and unforgiving.”
Jayson frowned. Running into Morgan today was completely unexpected. He hadn’t planned on dealing with the Sandersons at all.
Now, it was clear that there was no way to salvage the situation.
He gave Ariel a long, deep look.
Her stunning face was cold to the extreme. He had hardly ever seen Ariel like that.
“That’s enough.” His voice was noticeably colder as he fixed his eyes on Ariel.
But Ariel didn’t look at him. Instead, she turned back to Lori. “Apologize to Jan.”
She wouldn’t let anyone close to her suffer in silence.
Just then, Nancy arrived, walking into the tension–filled scene. She immediately went up to Jayson and asked softly, “Did you wait long?”
Jayson looked at her and replied, “No.“.
Observing the interaction, Lori grinned. “Ariel, it looks like you really can’t measure up to her.”
