Chapter 271
After the whirlwind of events, Ariel had unexpectedly gained instant recognition in the academic world.
She understood what Chad meant. In hindsight, the earlier incident had indeed become a stepping stone for her.
Chad spoke thoughtfully. “Itonestly, for those of us in research or cademia, the public rarely hears our names, no matter how great our achievements. Some may never experience a moment like this in their entire careers.
“Their work goes unnoticed. But you were fortunate to have a platform like today’s event. Maybe we should thank Mr. Swanson for his ignorance.”
It was true—academic accomplishments often went unrecognized by the public. Most researchers led quiet, low–profile lives.
Initially, Ariel had faced accusations of misconduct. But Cedric’s swift and unequivocal defense had turned the tide, confirming the papers were hers.
The dramatic turn of events made the incident unforgettable.
Now, Ariel’s name would spread. Her position in the academic circle would be solidified. As people learned the truth behind the controversy and recognized her accomplishments, their respect for her would only grow.
With her expertise proven, any lingering doubts would vanish. It was, undeniably, good news for Ariel.
Still, she felt a mix of emotions she couldn’t quite put into words.
While she was lost in thought, Russell and several other experts approached her. Russell spoke gently, “Ms. Walker, thank you for being here today and for answering so many questions. We’ll be holding a photo session shortly. Would you be able to join us?”
Ariel would be glad to join them. Russell, the president of Ashford University, had political influence. Gaining his recognition was no small feat. Being included in the group photo was an honor.
“Sure.” She nodded calmly and politely. There e wasn’t a hint of arrogance in her tone or expression.
Photos of all the distinguished guests would be taken later, but attendees were free to take individual photos in the meantime.
Nancy, watching from a distance, noticed the crowd gathering around Ariel. Her fists clenched unconsciously as she slowly emerged from her daze.
For a moment, she felt as though she didn’t belong in that circle. But she wasn’t about to sit idly by. Nancy hadn’t forgotten her purpose for attending. She needed to ensure that the experts noticed her research paper.
Just then, Frederick approached. “Ms. Stanton, would you like to meet with the editors now?”
Nancy had regained her composure. She wasn’t going to reject Frederick’s help, even if he had embarrassed her earlier. She could separate personal feelings from professional goals.
“Sure,” she replied.
Frederick let out a quiet sigh of relief. He had worried Nancy might be angry with him for failing to support her earlier.
He led her to Adrian, the editor they had met earlier.
Nancy’s expression was more composed now. Focused on her goal, she said politely, “Hello. Would you be available to discuss promoting my research paper?”
Adrian looked at Nancy, then at Frederick. He sighed. “Ms. Stanton, I’m sure you understand that our team follows strict protocols. Now that Ms. Walker’s paper has been recognized as first–rate, we’ll prioritize promoting her work using our platform and resources.
“Any papers published around the same time will be temporarily set aside. If you’re not in a rush, would it be alright to revisit this discussion after Ms. Walker’s promotional period ends?”

Nancy’s face darkened, She had to walt for Ariel? And Ariel hadn’t even asked for help. Yet they were offering it anyway?
Frederick looked frustrated. “But I thought we had already agreed on this.
Adrian met his gaze calmly. “Mr. Swanson, we’ve known each other for years. But the academic world and our platforms have limited resources. Even if you want to help Ms. Stanton, she would need to surpass Ms. Walker in terms of research quality,
“Ms. Stanton is undoubtedly sinart and capable. There’s no question about that. Unfortunately, her opponent is someone like Ms. Walker an extraordinary genius.”
