Nancy acted almost as soon as the thought crossed her mind. There was no time to waste.
She planned to mortgage her house to the bank first At least after the review, she could get around 60 million dollars upfront.
She just wasn’t sure how long the bank’s process would take, so she wanted to ask Dylan for a few more days.
When she decided to return to Eldoria to develop her business, Sarah had planned to come back with her. Finding a place to settle down hadn’t been easy at the time, and it was Jayson who helped secure this house for her.
Now, it had become her lifeline. At least it was enough to get her through the emergency.

Nancy had just gotten off the phone with the bank when Robin came into her office. “Ms. Stanton, you have a visitor…”
Nancy looked up and noticed Robin hesitating and looking a little uneasy. She frowned. “If they don’t have an appointment, I’m not seeing them.”
As soon as she said that, a striking figure appeared in the doorway.
Nancy’s grip on her pen suddenly tightened.
On her way in, Evelyn had taken a good look at Veyo Solutions. The facilities were complete and top
-tier.
With such a strong starting point, there was no way the company could develop poorly.
The moment Nancy saw Evelyn, her expression shifted. She immediately got up and walked over. ” Mrs. Larkin, what brings you here?”
She still carried herself with quiet confidence.
Evelyn finally looked at her. Her gaze swept from head to toe. “What? Do I need to beg to see you?”
Nancy’s chest tightened under the unspoken pressure. “Sorry, I didn’t mean it that way.”
“Jayson set this company up for you, didn’t he?” Evelyn asked coldly, ignoring her explanation.
That single question made Nancy’s breath hitch.
From the moment she had been by Jayson’s side, she had never met Evelyn privately, and Evelyn had shown no interest in dealing with her. For her to show up now, of all times, Nancy could almost guess what was about to happen next.
She pressed her lips together and told Robin to close the door on his way out. Then she made coffee for Evelyn. “Mrs. Larkin, please have a seat.”

Nancy regained her composure quickly. There was no trace of panic in her manner. It was obvious that she had been raised with a refined upbringing.
Evelyn could see that.
She didn’t bother with small talk. Her cold eyes carried no emotion. “Your family’s situation has been quite the spectacle lately. I always thought that even if you stepped into high society halfway through life, you’d at least count as a well–bred family. Now it seems I gave you too much credit.”
Those words pinned Nancy under a harsh, scrutinizing spotlight.
Her heart skipped, but she quickly replied, “I’m sorry, Mrs. Larkin. But don’t worry. I’ll handle it. Most of it’s just misunderstandings.”
“No need.” Evelyn looked at her calmly. “Jayson’s helped you plenty, but you’re still hopeless. The Larkin family doesn’t run a charity case for lost causes. Jayson had bought a house for you and your mother, and he had given you plenty of resources.
“I’ll give you two choices. One, you publicly clarify that you and Jayson never had that kind of relationship and keep your distance from him from now on. Two, I’ll consider forcing you to return everything he’s given you.”
Nancy stood there, her expression darkening. She pressed her lips together tightly.
Evelyn was, after all, the daughter of a prominent family and the matriarch of the Larkin family. Her presence alone was enough to intimidate.
So she was here today to show her strength.
For so long, Evelyn had left things in a tacit state of acceptance. But now that the situation was spiraling out of control, she came down hard.
This wasn’t really a choice. It was open, deliberate pressure.
Nancy could now see firsthand how decisively the Larkin matriarch acted.
Her expression froze, but she didn’t answer.
And Evelyn clearly wasn’t here to hear her reply. Instead, she cast a cool glance around the office. ” If you’re smart, I can send you away with a good opportunity. A comeback isn’t impossible.”
