Chapter 347
Ronin’s face was grim and tired. He furrowed his brow, glanced at Ophelia, and quickly looked away
“Did something happen to Kenneth?” Ivy’s eyes widened in alarm. If not for the guild members holding her back, she would have rushed to Ronin.
Ronin’s gaze landed on Ophelia again. Seeing his expression, Ophelia panicked, yet her face remained calm.
“Is Kenneth…” Her voice was a bit hoarse, but her tone was very even.
Only those closest to her, like Melanie, could hear the uncontrollable tremble in her voice.
“No, no. Kenneth’s surgery went relatively smoothly. It’s just that” Ronin pressed his chapped lips together.
He continued, “It’s just that during the removal of the cranial toxins, there was an accident. There’s temporarily liquid pressing on his nerves, which might … affect when he wakes up.”
It might affect when Kenneth woke up. Ophelia had seen the risks of this surgery when she signed the consent form.
She reviewed countless risk scenarios over and over again, and she knew what they meant. To be blunt, whether or not he would wake up was uncertain.
During those few hours, she had thought about every possible outcome and risk in her mind countless times. This result was not the worst, and she could handle it.
Ophelia’s face showed no emotion, like a machine without feelings.
Even someone as significant as Victor was momentarily taken aback upon hearing the news, almost losing his balance, yet she stayed calm as usual.
Ophelia asked, “Where is he now?”
“Kenneth has been moved to the ICU. At the moment, his vital signs are stable,” Ronin replied.
“I want to see him.”
“Okay.” Ronin nodded and led Ophelia to the ICU entrance.
Through the glass, she saw Kenneth lay on the hospital bed with one arm exposed. Veins bulged along to his hand. His pale, slender finger had a heart monitor on it.
Kenneth’s eyes were closed tight. He was wearing an oxygen mask, and a persistent fierceness was evident across his stern brows. It was as if he had just fought with death.
He won. He said he would go all out for her.
“Kennie, get some good rest, but not too long. I’m still waiting for you.” Seeing him made Ophelia’s emotions stir a little. But she believed Kenneth would wake up. He couldn’t bear to leave her behind.
Later, Ivy and Victor arrived. The guild members asked if they should let them in, and Ophelia agreed. She stepped aside and moved to the back.
But when Ivy saw Ophelia so calm, she immediately lost her temper. “You’re so heartless. There’s no telling when Kenneth will wake up, yet you’re so composed and not sad at all. Do you really love him?”
Ophelia answered, “What’s the point of being sad? You’d better watch your tongue. I allowed you to see Kenneth because

you’re his aunt. If you continue disturbing his rest, I’ll have to ask you to leave.”
“Do I need your permission? What right do you have-”
“I’m his legal wife,” Ophelia answered firmly.
However, Ivy’s words became even more hurtful, accusing Ophelia of having orchestrated everything as part of her elaborate plan.
Before Ophelia could speak, Ivy was taken out by the guild members.
Victor stood by silently, watching through the glass for a moment. As he was leaving, he said “thank you” with his back to Ophelia.
She didn’t understand the meaning behind his words, and she didn’t feel the need for his gratitude.
The whole night passed as Ophelia waited outside the ICU.
It wasn’t until the afternoon of the next day that Kenneth was moved to a normal ward, and she could finally rest for a bit.
The two–story villa was closely guarded by the guild members around the clock, allowing no one inside except the assigned doctors and nurses.
Ronin had just finished checking Kenneth’s condition and as he left the villa, his phone rang. It was Noah calling “How’s Kenneth doing?”
Ronin explained the situation to Noah in detail and then heard nothing but heavy breathing from the other end of the line. “Alright, I see. And how’s that girl doing? Is she holding up?” Noah asked.
“She seems pretty calm, but I think she’s just barely hanging in there. She hasn’t slept for two days. She took a short nap just/ now and then immediately got up to stay by Kenneth’s side again” Ronin sighed.
Noah gave a few more instructions before hanging up.
At a vendor’s stall in Dellanex’s Electronics Market, Noah sat on a high stool, his straight legs bent. His hands were resting. naturally on the glass counter.
“Are you done?” he asked in a cold tone.
The whole Electronics Market was dark, with only this stall illuminated.
Keith stared intently at the progress bar on the computer screen, saying, “Almost there.”
He initially said it would take a week, but now it was already two days overdue. All the data on the watch was slowly being restored.
“Done!” Keith pressed Enter, successfully retrieving the important data.
Before he could turn the laptop around, Noah quickly spun it toward himself. On the screen were two photos with a blue background, like student ID pictures.
Keith said, “I’ve checked into these two people. One lives in a slum, and the other has been adopted. Honestly, the adopted girl looks more like an Al–generated picture of your sister in her childhood.”
Noah shook his head, not convinced. When his sister was little, she had big bright eyes.
Keith continued, “I know what you’re going to say. The adopted girl’s eye color doesn’t match your sister’s, but eye color can change over time, becoming lighter.

“Some children have brown eyes, and they can eventually turn aber.”
Noah thought, ‘Amber? Mom has amber eyes. There’s no point i overthinking. The priority now is to find these two girls and conduct a DNA test.
Keith grinned at Noah, “Boss, could you pay me first?” After all, had given Noah what he wanted
Noah glanced up at Keith’s shrewd eyes. “Don’t think I don’t know what you’re up to.”
“I don’t know what you’re talking about.”
“Once I pay you, you’ll use these two people’s information to ask for more money, right?”
Hearing this, Keith let out an awkward laugh. “Oh, no. Even if you had not mentioned it, I would bring it up myself. Here is all the information I’ve gathered over the past two years. Please take a look.”
His smile looked more like crying.
Noah looked at the two documents, frowning deeply.
