Chapter 6
I slept well that night.
Early the next morning. I arrived at the airport with my luggage. A young man spotted me from a distance and came over
He wore a simple white T shirt, looking fresh and clean with youthful energy.
I took off my sunglasses: “And you are?”
He gave me a bright smile: “Hey, Riley! I’m Ethan, the new intern at the company.”
“The boss assigned me to accompany you on this business trip. Just give me any odd jobs you need done.
I looked him up and down–strong build, seemed useful.
Previously, because I was married, I would refuse when the company assigned male colleagues to travel with me.
But now…
Thinking about the divorce papers I’d already had my lawyer send to Knox, I nodded politely to the young man.
While checking in, I sat on a bench and idly played with my phone.
Suddenly, I received a video–from Piper.
In a smoky bar, Knox and his group of bros were all there.
On the table were Truth or Dare props, with everyone chanting: “Kiss! Kiss!”
In the center of the frame, Piper in a tank top was leaning over Knox’s lap, both kissing passionately.
The person filming zoomed in, the wet sounds of their kissing audible.
Right after I watched it, the video was recalled.
[Sorry, sent that by accident. My bad.]
[We were just playing games last night. Don’t mind it, okay?]
I didn’t reply, just silently changed her message notifications to special alerts. Perfect–if we go to divorce court, this could all be evidence.
Ethan was handing me a bottle of water when he accidentally glimpsed the content on my phone. His expression turned awkward: “Uh, sorry, I…”
I waved it off: “It’s fine. Just my soon–to–be ex–husband and his new girlfriend.”
Ethan was indignant: “What a piece of shit!”
I smiled casually: “I actually hope she sends more. If we go to court, I might get a better settlement.”
As we were talking, Knox called.
His voice carried a hint of anger, raspy from a hangover: “Riley, what’s with these divorce papers the lawyer sent me?”
My voice was completely calm: “I’ve told you many times about the divorce.”
“But I never agreed to it!”
I grew impatient: “I know. That’s why I filed with the court.”
Hearing this, Knox’s tone suddenly softened: “Babe, please don’t divorce me, okay? I’ve never done anything to hurt you…”
Ethan came over to help with my luggage: “Riley, let’s go. Our flight’s about to board.”

Chapter 6
Hearing the young man’s voice, Knox froze, then his voice suddenly rose: “Who is this guy? Riley, you’re going on a business trip alone with a ment?
A gleeful female voice came through from his end. “See, Knox? What did I tell you?”
“I warned you–women who travel frequently are dangerous.”
With that, Knox took the bait and grew more aggressive: “Riley, you promised you’d never travel with another man!”
“Don’t go this time–come back right now!”
I just laughed coldly: “Come back? Where would I sleep?”
“With you and your sweetheart in the bed, I don’t think there’s room for me anymore.”
Knox hesitated, sounding guilty: “…What are you talking about? I was just drunk yesterday, and she just helped me get home.”
My sarcasm intensified: “Right, you are always right. You had fun playing games yesterday. Of course you needed to drink more.”
“How… how did you know about-”
Before he could finish, I turned off my phone.
