Chapter 8
“With the love of my brothers, I’m really so lucky.” Yumiko had posted a group pliato of the three of them, with her
in the center.
Felix and Jacob were on either side, making playful kissing gestures,
She pretended to have accidentally tagged Winona and then ran to explain, “Sorry, Wino, I’m so silly. I meant to mention my two brothers but accidentally tagged you. I don’t know how it happened.”
Such a clumsy little trick
“It’s fine. Even if you’re slow, you’ve still found brothers who are willing to take care of you. Winona coldly typed a response and then blocked her.
Who could have guessed that her moment of compassion would save a snake?
She smiled bitterly and quickly blocked Felix and Jacob as well.
As the plane took off, the city lights on the ground grew farther and farther away,
What had once been recognizable homes slowly turned into distant stars.
Beicheng would become her past forever. She would never return.
Felix and Jacob both received Winona’s like and thought she would immediately soften, apologize to Yumiko, and then come to console them.
But one night passed, and the phone on the other side remained silent. They intentionally posted about their private room location in their posts and drank all night, but didn’t see Winona show up:
The next morning, unable to wait any longer, they returned home early.
As soon as they got out of the car, Yumiko pretended to be pitiful. “Felix, do you think Wino sister is really not upset?”
“I think I should go back first. After you’ve made up with her, I’ll come back and apologize to Wino.”
She looked full of guilt, but was stopped by the two men before she could turn to leave.
“We’ve said it’s not your fault. If Wing insists on being stubborn and holding a grudge, we’ll just ignore her.”
“Exactly! You’ve already been through so much, and she’s still holding grudges against you.”
The two men comforted Yumiko with heartfelt sympathy.
But as soon as they reached the hallway, they saw a very familiar box by the door.
It was a pink storage box with a hand painted Hello Kitty design on it.
Chapter 8
This was a birthday gift they had made during university.
The Hello Kitty on top was hand painted by them with acrylic paint, and inside were two handmade books that they had spent more than half a year making in their spare time during university.
When Winona first received the books, she was so moved, saying that she would cherish them forever.
She had promised that, and all these years, whenever she moved, this pink box was always with her.
Inside, there were their group photos and everything they had experienced together.
Now, with the box sitting outside the door, it meant that Winona had truly given up on their friendship.
“Winona!” Jacob was furious. He tried to open the door to confront her.
But when he pressed his fingerprint on the lock, the sound that came wasn’t the usual unlocking sound, but a mechanical female voice saying. “Fingerprint incorrect, unlock failed.”
“What’s going on?” Felix felt a jolt in his chest. He was suddenly very anxious.
He also placed his finger on the lock, but the same “unlock failed” message followed.
“How could this be?” Their voices rose in frustration.
Yumiko, who didn’t understand, was still pretending to be pitiful. “Boys, what happened? I knew Wino must still be upset. I’ll go explain to her.”
She knocked on the door, and the sound echoed in their ears, adding to their growing irritation.
“Stop knocking!” Jacob shouted,
Yumiko froze, shocked by how Jacob had raised his voice at her for the first time.
Before, both men had always been gentle and accommodating toward her.
“Wino wouldn’t delete our fingerprints. Has something happened to her?” Felix fumbled with his phone and immediately called Winona.
The call failed to go through.
The next moment, the red exclamation mark on the screen made it hard for him to breathe.
“She blocked me,” Felix’s voice trembled with a hint of sobbing.
Jacob immediately reached for his own phone, but in his haste, it slipped from his hand and rolled on the floor, making a clattering sound.
