Chapter 9
Knox returned to the States with us.
The whole way back, he was dejected, constantly trying to win me back
But I didn’t spare him a single glance.
After returning, he still refused to sign the divorce agreement.
Instead, he showed up at my company every day, making grand gestures with flowers and fireworks.
I found it disgusting and extremely annoying.
Finally, I had to ask Ethan for help to ban him from entering the company.
But Knox still tried to ambush me, so I had no choice but to send him the evidence I’d saved from Piper. Only then did I finally get a few days of precious peace and quiet.
Few days later, I moved into the small apartment I’d bought before marriage. While casually browsing WhatsApp during my free time, I noticed Piper had posted many status updates lately.
[Old women are so disgusting, always tattling behind people’s backs.]
[I’ve liked you since I was little. Why could you never see me?]
These were followed by sad love quotes, paired with provocative photos and videos of her drinking at bars
In the videos, I recognized many familiar men–all of Knox’s buddies.
Well, she really gets around.
With no progress on the divorce for several days, I sent Knox screenshots from the living room and study security cameras.
He called right away.
“Riley, we were both drunk that day. I wasn’t thinking straight…”
I interrupted him: “I don’t care about any of that. Just sign the divorce papers.”
“Knox, I don’t want this to get ugly.”
His voice choked up on the other end: “Riley, I never wanted to divorce you…”
I laughed coldly, “Right. What you wanted was to keep your wife at home while having fun on the side.”
Seeing that the other end of the line had fallen silent for a long time, I delivered my final ultimatum:
“I sent you the divorce papers a long time ago. If you don’t sign within three days, I’m taking legal action.”
Knox finally signed.
When I saw him again, it was the day we went to court. He had lost his usual charm, looking devastated and having lost a lot of weight.
Coming out of the courthouse, he caught up with me and tried to grab my hand, but gave up and explained in a sorrowful tone: “At first, I really ust wanted to let her stay temporarily…”
I had no interest in hearing him out. I waved my hand and got into a waiting taxi.
A few months later, the court’s decision came through, and we were officially divorced.
The house was awarded to me, and Knox complied with the ruling by moving out.
However, I really didn’t want to return there, so I sold it for a profit and bought a larger apartment instead.

Chapter 9
Later theard from others that Piper insisted on living with him.
Knox was fed up but couldn’t shake her off.
Eventually. Piper got pregnant.
She used this to pressure him into marriage, and Knox was forced to marry her by both sets of parents.
But after marriage. Piper’s personality changed dramatically. She became paranoid that women were trying to steal her man.
She followed Knox everywhere, eyeing every woman around him suspiciously, even his female colleagues.
Knox’s work suffered greatly because of her, and his attitude toward her worsened.
One day during an argument, Piper was accidentally pushed down some stairs, losing the baby and suffering serious injuries.
Harboring hatred in her heart, one day when Knox was leaving for work, she drove her car into him. Both died in the incident.
I sighed, thinking only: you reap what you sow.
Ethan fed me a bite of cherry cake: “Why the sudden sigh, babe?”
I shook my head with a gentle smile: “It’s nothing important.”
