Chapter 103
The Council traveled to the Godsend Pack the next day, accompanied by their league of protectors. They did not warn the Alpha, figuring that if they told him they were coming, he would hide the werwolves in question. As they rolled into the territory, riding in armored black SUV’s, wolves tan along side them, not even trying to hide their presence.
The SUV’s rolled up in front of the pack house, and even before anyone could exit, they were surrounded by wolves. Alpha Chris stood at the top of the steps to the pack house, armis crossed over his chest, an inquisitive look on his face.
The Suburban that was in the front of the caravan, and the one in the rear suddenly flung all four doors open, eight huge werwolves stepped out of the vehicles, showing no fear of the wolves surrounding the vehicles. They had no reason to fear them, they were the most highly trained warriors that existed within the werwolf community, all of them walls of solid muscle and towering in height above most other wolves. It was necessary to protect the Council members. Leaving them unprotected and vulnerable could ultimately lead to assassinations and all out war among their kind. The Council kept the peace and enforced the laws.
The moment that Alpha Chris noticed the Council emblem on the breast of the shirts of the warriors, he held up his hand and signaled his wolves away. As soon as this happened, the Protectors began to open the doors for the Councilmen. The seven Councilmen and the remaining Protectors exited the vehicles. Councilman A stepped to the stairs and looked up at Alpha Chris. Alpha Chris gave a slight bow before asking, “To what do I owe the pleasure of your visit Great Council?“.
Councilman A raised at eyebrow at the tone, feeling that Alpha Chris was being awfully curt for someone who wasn’t expecting the Council on their doorstep. “We are doing an investigation. We need to speak with you and some of your pack members. Also, I believe you have a member staying with you that is from the Portland Pack?“.
“Do I?“, Alpha Chris asked. He shifted his feet uncomfortably, quickly looking to the left, before his gaze came back to the Councilman. ‘I don’t think so,” he told him.
Noticing his shifty stance and the way his eyes moved to look away from the councilman, one of the Protectors turned his trained eyes away from the scene in front of him, turning his back to the Councilman and the Armored vehicles. He let out a growl, quickly shifted and ran into the woods. Councilman A looked up to the Alpha, his voice now laced with venom, having been lied to. “Yes Alpha you are. The Protector will return with him shortly.”
Two Protectors flanked Councilman A, the rest of the Councilman coming up behind him, following by more protection, they climbed the stairs to the pack house entrance. Alpha Chris visibly gulped, as he turned and opened the door, motioning for them to enter. Alpha Chris showed them into his conference room and asked his secretary to get the Beta to come immediately.
“I apologize Councilmen, I do not know why exactly you are here. I can assume that Wyatt from the Portland Pack must be in some sort of trouble. Is that why you are here?“, Alpha Chris feigned innocence and pretended to be clueless.
The Council Members exchanged knowing glances. “We will need you to summon some of your pack members. We need to speak to Jacob, as well as the two in these photos,” Councilman B threw some photos on the table, still shots that Cody had pulled off the video footage.
Alpha Chris walked to the table and looked at the photos. His hands were shaking, fists clenched at his sides. He looked up at the councilmen, “Let me go find them,” he said, as he quickly walked towards the door. As he flung the door open, one of the Protectors stood in his way, arms crossed over his chest, staring down at Alpha Chris.
“I don’t think so Alpha. You need to stay here. I suggest you get someone else to go get them. Perhaps your missing Beta can aid in this,” Councilman B said, his voice tinged with annoyance.
Alpha Chris turned back to the Council. ‘Of course,‘ his eyes glazing over as he sent a mind link to his Beta.
“What exactly are you investigating anyway? Alpha Chris asked.
In good time, all will be revealed. You will all have an opportunity to give your statements in a formal setting. For now, we need the wolves whom we have requested, Councilman G spoke up, his heavy French accent making him sound even more angry,
