Chapter 105
Ashlynn
I stood just in the tree line, watching as the Council and my Uncle made sure the prisoners were secure in the dungeon. The second I saw his face, anger filled me. Wyatt. He was supposed to be family, my Uncle. My father’s brother. Instead, he was now an enemy, as cruel as my father ever was. I just can’t understand why those two men turned out to be so awful. The few times I had seen my grandparents in person, they appeared to be the picture of perfection as far as mates go. But then again, maybe it was all for show. Much how my mother pretended and never let anyone know of her abuses that she suffered. I was looking forward to this being over with. I wanted my mother to finally feel safe and happy. I wanted to move forward with my mate, build our lives and have a family. All the stress had exhausted us all. I hardly slept, my mate and I didn’t even have the energy to make love to one another, falling into bed exhausted most days.
Wyatt must have sensed me in the trees. He paused just before one of the Council’s Protectors shoved him through the door. He turned his head in my direction, a smirk on his face. I am sure he didn’t see me, but he had to have sensed me, maybe even recognized my scent, as the breeze blew softly in that direction from the tree line. I was hoping to wipe that smirk off his face very soon.
The wind shifted and I caught the scent of my mate, as he came up behind me and wrapped me in his arms. “What are you doing?,” he whispered in my ear.
I turned my head towards him, placing a soft kiss on his lips. “I wanted to make sure it was really him. Did you see them walking them all in? He is the only one with that stupid smirk on his face. I don’t understand how he can be so self confident, even in a time like this. He disgusts me,” I told Dawson, the hatred for Wyatt seeping through my voice.
Dawson squeezed me tighter, then turned me towards him and took my hand in his. “Come on babe, let’s go home. I feel like I haven’t seen you in forever, except when we sleep. All my work is done for the day, let’s go have some time alone for a change. It’s pointless to waste your energy on that piece of shit.” He started walking from the trees to the path, pulling me after him.
We made our way back to our loft, just walking together in comfortable silence. Dawson was right. This was the first day that we hadn’t been busy with a ton of stuff. I wasn’t on call for a change, and it wouldn’t be for a few weeks when we started delivering calves and colts and fillies. I did feel like I wanted to relax and spend some time with my mate. We walked through the door, closing it behind us.
“Did you hear about your Mom?,” Dawson asked.
“What about her?,” I asked curiously.
Dawson chuckled. “Cody didn’t show up for work today. I went over to their place and knocked on the door. He didn’t answer for a good solid ten minutes and the door was locked. I tried to mind link him and He cut me off, so I just waited.”
“Ok, and?“, I asked.
“Your mom is in heat.” Dawson said with a smile.
“What?,” I gasped. “How is that possible? She hasn’t had a heat since she lost her pup years ago.” My hand went to my mouth in shock. “I mean, don’t get me wrong, I’m happy for her and Cody. Maybe they will have a pup together.” I stated this knowing how happy and scared my Mom would be. She didn’t know it, but I had gone to the pack doctor years ago to talk to them about her heat and the loss of the pup. The pack doctor had told me that stress could cause she–wolves to stop having their heat, its a way the body protects itself from dangerous situation She’s now in a happy loving relationship, so maybe this is a blessing from the Moon Goddess.
Dawson wrapped his arms around me, walking me backwards towards our bedroom. “So I was thinking,” he said, as he kissed my face and down my neck.
“Mmmmm, you were huh?,” I breathed out, my body heating up at his attention.
“Yes. Yes I was,” he laughed as he pushed me through our bedroom and slowly started to undress me. “We better get busy ourselves, trying to have some pups.”
“What about our mating ceremony?, Vasked.

“What about it? You are my mate. I don’t need a ceremony to tell me when I can and cannot make love to my mate, or have pups with her, he pulled back from where he had been nibbling on my ear, to look me in the eyes. “Or do I?”
I smiled up into his beautiful green eyes, filled with love and lust. “No, you do not, I breathed out.
“I didn’t think so,” he stated as he pulled my shirt over my head and pushed me back onto the bed. He lowered himself to his knees to remove my boots and jeans. Lwas laying there just in my bra and panties. “Goddess, you are so gorgeous, he said, staring at me as he rose up and began undressing himself.
