Dawson
I was anxious to get home, as the Alpha and I made our way back to the ranch. I felt better than I had in a long time. My appointment went well with the doctor. I was able to shift and actually able to control my wolf Drake this time. I had been afraid to shift, that I might hurt someone. It turns out that this had been delaying my healing and was why I was always exhausted. My blood work showed that they could still detect some silver in my blood stream, so the doctor had given me another dose of the antidote and the Alpha and I went to have lunch to give it time to take affect thoroughly. When we returned, the doctor took us to an empty room to try and shift.
I had undressed and the Alpha stood between me and the doctor, just in case my wolf was not controllable. I shifted, and it took a little longer than it normally did, but as I stood there in my wolf form, my eyes level with the Alpha’s, I did not feel that aggression that I had the last time. I felt like Drake and I were in sync again. Drake wagged his tail in my head and apologized for his behavior, explaining that the silver and wolfsbane had made him angry, enraged in fact, but he was good now. I had mind linked the Alpha and explained everything. Dr. Cortez had then walked up to my wolf, explained he was going to take a blood sample while I was in wolf form, and then I could shift back.
Afterward, we waited for the results, sitting in the cafeteria having coffee. “You should call Ashlynn and tell her that we will be late,” the Alpha told me. I realized I had left my phone at home. I rarely took it anywhere, and we were to far away to mind link.
“I don’t have a phone,” I told the Alpha. He nodded in understanding. He pulled his from his pocket and sent a text to Ashlynn’s phone. If I had to guess she probably didn’t have hers either, she was like me, rarely carried it around with her, choosing to focus on whatever she was doing. It was basically confirmed when we got no response to his text. I wasn’t worried, that was normal. She’d reply when she came back in from work.
As we pulled into the driveway by the stables, I practically hopped out with the truck still in motion, a quick thanks to the Alpha. I ran up the stairs to Ashlynn’s loft and opened the door. I could hear her in the shower. With a smile on my face, I locked the door and made the way to the bedroom. I stripped off my clothes, walked into the bathroom, just watching her for a moment behind the steamy glass. I felt like I hadn’t seen her or spent any time with her in a very long time. It was Friday night, she didn’t have to work tomorrow. I had all weekend to reconnect with my mate. I was going to hold her in my arms, make love to her, take our wolves out for a run, whatever we wanted to do we would. Together, without distractions from anyone or anything. I finally was feeling like myself again.
