Chapter 93
Alpha Gabe
We secured the perimeter of the outbuilding and set up a watch schedule. The warriors set up a very good trap for the exit door we had found, once it was opened from outside, presumably by the kidnappers, it wouldn’t be able to be opened again once it shut behind them. This would assure us ample time to respond to their arrival. We left the two rogue wolves in the tunnel, still alive for the time being. This would assure that they would still hear noises in the tunnel as they made their way to the room where they had most of them caged. Since we had blown the other door open, we couldn’t put it back, but we did manage to lean the steel door up against the building, so that if they came through it, the sound of it falling would alert anyone near by. We had done what we could for now, and we would wait and see who showed up.
I made my way to the clinic with Alpha Garrett and Cody. We needed to speak to these wolves and see who could give us information, and to find out where each of them was from. Any information that they could give us about their kidnappers or how they came to be locked up in that tunnel, would be crucial to us ending this once and for all.
The three of us entered through the front door and headed to the clinic area. The second we passed through the doors to the clinic, you could smell the fear on these wolves. I could hear their heart rates pick up and we could visibly see some of them cower. Two Alphas and a Beta in the small area must have been sending them strong auras. Looking around at the cots, most of them were still unconscious. The one they called Shawna was awake and sitting up, staring at us with wide eyes. I could see that the wolf who had identified himself as being from Portland, was awake. He lay on his cot, hooked up to IV’s, shaking uncontrollably. The young boy named Alek was also awake, his eyes squeezed closed tight, tears streaming down his face. It looked like the doctor was giving him an infusion of silver serum, trying to draw out any poison in his blood stream. The other three wolves, one shifted and the other two still in wolf form, lay there unconscious, hooked up to monitors. The only indication they were alive was the steady beeping of their heart rate and a barely discernible rise and fall of their chests.
The three of us exchanged glances, and I nodded toward the female. She was from Garrett’s pack, I would prefer he be present while we spoke to her. He nodded and we walked towards her. Just as I was about to pull up a chair, Ashlynn came out of the back lab area.
“Alpha?“, she walked up to us all and placed her hand on my shoulder. Even though she was my niece, she always addressed me by Alpha if others were around. I turned to look at her my eyebrow raised in question.
“She requested that I be present for her questioning sir,” her voice dropped to a softer tone. “I think she may be afraid to be alone with males.”
*Please then, take a seat next to her,” I turned toward Garrett. “Alpha Garrett this is Ashlynn, my niece and also our head veterinarian. I would imagine she’s been helping the pack doctor out, treating these wolves. I watched as Ashlynn extended her hand to Alpha Garrett and he took it with a firm shake. “Ok, let’s try to get some information that may be useful, shall we.” I turned toward Shawna, who was holding tightly to Ashlynn’s hand, her body shaking.
Alpha Garrett took a chair and moved it to the foot of the cot, sitting down to face Shawna. “It’s ok Shawna, say what you can manage to get out for now. We will ask you some questions, answer what you can. Ok?” He made no move to try to touch her, just calmly looked her in the eyes. She nodded her head, watching Garrett, occasionally glancing up at myself or Cody.
