Chapter 95
It had been three days since the call was made to the Council. The warriors had maintained a vigilant guard on the outbuilding, and so far there was no sign of anyone. According to information obtained from the captured wolves, they were sometimes left for days on end, with no. food or water and no contact from anyone outside. The Council was due to arrive today, and preparations were being made to host them at the The Alpha’s home. This was typical with high ranking leaders.
The Council had been informed of the abductions and torture, although those prisoners abducted during war were not considered punishable. However, werwolves using wolfsbane and silver was considered illegal. It had been outlawed decades ago. The wolves that were abducted from packs not involved in the war between Godsend and Wyoming Wolf Pack were also considered illegal, especially with the torture and maltreatment.
The council had informed Alpha Gabe and Alpha Garrett to refrain from contacting Godsend Pack until they arrived. The Council had reached out to the Alpha of the Portland Pack and was expecting him to arrive the same day as well. The Lone Wolf Pack was busy preparing for the visitors. There were no idle hands, as every one rushed about to make sure everything was prepared and that security was increased, border patrols running in doubles for safety.
Alpha Gabe
Myself and Cody were in his office, going over some more video footage. This entire thing had been going on way to long. There were reports that the previous night, some wolves not of our pack had been seen out by the front gate, outside of our border. They were pacing back and forth as if attempting to find a breach in our fence. The fence along the front of the property was eight feet tall and solid cinder block. The only way anyone could get in would be to try and find a way to get over the wall, or sneak in when the gate was opened, which typically only when someone was coming in or leaving.
“Can you tell how it is?“, I asked Cody. It was dark and while we had infrared cameras, it was still difficult to make out people from a distance.
Cody leaned back in his chair, rubbing his chin in thought. He looked tired, which made me think that he must have not been sleeping well. Most likely he was worried about Carolyn. I was truly happy they were together. I couldn’t think of a better man for my sister. I just hoped this wasn’t taking to much of a toll on their relationship, with it being so new.
“I don’t know. I have looked at this particular still shot probably fifty times. The guy kind of looks familiar, but I can’t place him. Maybe Dawson would recognize him.” Cody reached over and grabbed his hat off the desk and stood up to head outside. “I’m going to find Dawson and bring him up here to take a look.” I nodded and followed him outside.
“I will head back to the house. I’ve got to finish up a few things before the Council gets here. Let me know if Dawson recognizes any of them.” Cody nodded and I walked back to the house. I would sure be glad when this was over.
Dawson
I was in the arena training a new colt. The work here had to continue regardless of every going on around us. I had him on a lead, encouraging him to run in a circle around me, nothing but bareback pad strapped to him. This guy was skittish, so it was no surprise when Cody walked up and the colt reared in the air. “Shit,” I grumbled under my breath, as I tried to calm the colt.
“Hey man, sorry about that,” Cody said as he walked towards me. “Can I borrow you for a sec? Need you to look at some video footage.”

I looked at my watch, realizing it was lunch time anyway and I could probably use a break. “Yeah, just let me put this guy in his stall. Mind if I grab a sandwich before I head up to your office?“,
“Not a problem. See you in a few minutes.” Cody headed back to his office and I went to put the colt away. I was getting tired of the work here being interrupted all the time. These trouble makers had already given me plenty of headaches, and I felt like a lot of it was impeding the happiness that Carolyn and Ashlynn both deserved. It would be nice to have some peace and quiet again.
