Alpha Gabe
I sat back, listening to the Councilman interrogate each witness. Most of them were being pretty kind about the way they answered questions. The only one who had me raising an eyebrow was Councilman B. He had Wyoming in his region, and I would have thought he was more apt to be on Garrett’s side, but he seemed to think Garrett had instigated something between the Wyoming Wolf Pack and the Godsend Pack. The truth was, the war started because Alpha Chris wanted to take a chosen mate, who happened to be the daughter of Garrett’s Beta. She did not want to be his mate, and the Beta did not agree, as he wanted his daughter to make the choice. That started the war. I honestly didn’t understand why Chris wanted to fight over a she–wolf that wasn’t even his mate, but Garrett assured me that not only was she extremely beautiful, his Beta was very wealthy, his father having invested in oil in Texas, because that is where his mother was from. The whole thing was ridiculous in my opinion. I certainly wouldn’t start a war over any of that.
When it got to Alek, it came out that he was actually taken prior to Alpha Chris declaring war. It was during the time that he was attempting to get them to agree for him to mate with the Beta’s daughter. We thought perhaps it was for some sort of insurance. He was a child, even if he did have his wolf. He was fifteen when he was taken and had recently turned sixteen. We found out that it was him who had thrown the dead rabbit at the window. They had been starving him, and had a steak there for him if he did as he was told. He told us that he didn’t even kill the rabbit, someone else did and gave it to him. He couldn’t say why they wanted him to do it. As soon as he returned, they gave him the steak and shackled him to the wall, then injected him with wolfsbane. He didn’t remember anything after that until he woke up in the clinic.
The wolf from the Portland Pack, Robert was after Alek. He told us that he had come out here willingly with Wyatt. He was told they were just going to meet up with some of his family in another pack. He had come in the hopes that he could be here for a Full Moon run and maybe find his mate. He’d been looking for seven years. Ashlynn had recognized him when he was in the clinic, from her visits to see her Uncle. She recalled he had been a warrior and was often at the border when she requested to cross. They had no other interactions. Robert stated once he got here and found out the real reason that Wyatt was here, he had told him he was not going to participate and would be returning to Oregon. They had been staying with the Godsend Pack. Wyatt knew Alpha Chris, because he had been to Oregon several times. His sister was mated to the Alpha there. Once Robert told him that he was planning to leave, they injected him with wolfsbane while he was sleeping. He woke up in that tunnel, chained to the wall. He said he had been there for about three weeks when we found him. He did not believe that his Alpha knew what Wyatt was up to. We had decided to allow the Council the choice on whether to involve the Alpha from the Portland Pack or not. It did seem though, as if they were planning to call him, at the very least.
