Chapter 7
The moment he finished speaking, I slapped Eldric hard across the face.
My chest heaved as I gritted my teeth, putting all my strength behind it until my wrist stung
“Your girlfriend is still here! Have you no shame?”
“Tricking me once ten years ago wasn’t enough? Now you’re trying the same old tactics? Eldric, do you really think I’m so easy to play out‘?”
Eldric’s forehead tensed as veins pulsed, his expression darkening to storm–cloud levels.
“Fine, little sister’s grown up–you’re bold enough to hit your brother now.”
In the next instant, his eyes flashed as he caught my hand.
Rolling up my sleeve, he revealed an angry red mark on my porcelain wrist.
“What’s this? Looks like it was
de by a necktie…”
He frantically pulled at my clothing.
Beneath my turtleneck sweater were clusters of hickeies, and glaring bruises on my knees.
I yanked the blanket to cover myself, swinging back with another slap.
“What are you doing?!”
The blow turned Eldric’s face sideways, blood seeping from the corner of his mouth.
“What are these marks from?”
His words came through clenched teeth. “You’re a player, Seraphina.”
Tears welled in my eyes as I took a deep breath. “I told you I’m married. Who else could have made them?”
I had secretly escaped from Kaelan’s mansion.
Two months ago, late at night, Kaelan returned from a business dinner and wrapped his arm around my
waist as usual.
In the midst of our intimate moment, I spoke coldly.
Chapter 7
“Let’s get divorced, Kaelan.”
I can’t remember exactly how Kaelan responded. But I paid a terrible price for those words.
He locked me in his massive mansion, bound my wrists with his necktie, and tormented me day and
night.
All to force me to withdraw my request for divorce.
I took cold showers in the dead of winter, successfully landing myself in the hospital.
I only managed to escape home while he was at the office during the day.
“You mean Kaelan Winters?”
At this moment, the scales of trust in Eldric’s mind finally tipped in my favor.
He pulled out his phone. “I have his number saved. I’ll call him right now.”
“Seraphina, you’d better not be lying.”
Kaelan answered quickly. “Hello?”
Eldric’s tone was aggressive: “Tell me the damn truth. Did you marry my sister?”
The air grew still for a moment before I heard the man’s soft chuckle from the other end.
“What’s your sister’s name again?”
Eldric glanced at me, his confidence visibly crumbling.
“…Seraphina Season.”
“Oh, I think I remember her. That stupid girl from high school.”
“She told you we’re married?”
“Yes.”
Kaelan’s tone turned contemptuous. “She should see a psychiatrist for those delusions. There are plenty of women who want to marry me–tell her to get in line.”
He hung up decisively, as if speaking another word would tarnish his reputation.
