Chapter 10
Lia woke up early the next morning, as she always did. She had grown accustomed to waking up early, no matter the time or place.
One of her jobs before was waking up Issac to make sure he got up on time for work.
Issac had a terrible temper in the mornings, cursing at people and sometimes throwing things. Everyone in the Allen family’s household was scared of him and no one would wake him up, except for her.
Lia had lost count of how many times he’d yelled at her. She was living in someone else’s house, so there was nothing she could do to change it
She’d originally lived in the maid’s quarters at the Allen villa. After a while, she could afford to move out, but her job stayed
the same.
No matter what time it was or where he was, even if he was lost in some dream world, she still had to make sure he got to work on time, or else it meant she hadn’t done her job right.
“Why are you up so early?” Coby woke up as she moved.
His long arm pulled her back into his chest.
“Mr. Ford, you are working today. I need to get your clothes ready.” Lia didn’t dare slack off; only by staying busy could she feel at ease.
“Mr. Ford” He opened his eyes slowly, holding her even tighter. “You’re in work mode so soon? Is your body feeling better?
Lia didn’t expect him to ask that and awkwardly nodded.
He smiled, then flipped over and pinned her beneath him, his gaze intense. “Since you’re feeling better, and it’s so early- shouldn’t we do something?”
Lia instinctively put her hand between them, her face red. She barely whispered, “Not yet.”
He smiled softly and lay back down beside her, pulling her into his arms.
“Then just go back to sleep. I’ll tell you about my schedule later. He wasn’t really turned on; he just wanted to use sex as an excuse to tease her.
The tip of his nose brushed against her neck, making her feel ticklish, but he seemed to enjoy it.
“Go to sleep,” he said quietly.
And so, she stayed in his arms and tried to sleep.
Lia wasn’t sleepy anymore, but Coby next to her seemed exhausted, and he quickly fell back asleep.
She didn’t dare move, afraid of waking him up, so she just stared at his chest.
Coby was wearing a two–piece pajama set, the fabric’s texture barely visible, but it was definitely tempting.
Lia wasn’t new to seeing a man’s bare body–she’d seen Issac’s too. He had a great physique, all firm and muscular.
Coby moved slightly, and his shirt collar opened wide, giving her a clear view.
Lia quickly shut her eyes, trying to sleep and block it out, unaware that Coby was smiling slyly
Chapter 10
She didn’t know how long she’d been asleep, but when she woke up, Coby was fully dressed.
“Sorry,” she muttered, surprised at how deeply she’d slept.
Coby glanced at the time. “Sleep a bit longer. I’ll have breakfast brought to you.”
“No need to trouble yourself. Coby was her new master. Since he was already up, she could only get busy.
She quickly got out of bed and saw him tying his tie. She walked over to help. “Let me do it.”
At the Allen villa, Lia had learned how to take care of others and how to serve Issac. She’d learned it well, but Issac never let her do any of it.
Even here, Lia knew exactly what her place was.
“Done.” She took a step back, and he stepped forward, pulling her into a hug around the waist.
“Coby. Lia looked at his hand, feeling a strange, indescribable feeling inside.
“My schedule is waking up at 7:30 AM and going to bed at 11 PM said Coby.
“Noted.” She quietly listened.
Coby gently pinched her chin. “Lia, do we need to be so formal with each other?”
Lia bit her lip and said, “Uh, what should I do then?”
He gently tucked a lock of hair behind her ear. I don’t need a maid, and you’re not one. Do you get what I mean?”
Lia nodded slightly. “Okay”
She kept reminding herself to stay aware of her position, but his words made everything feel blurred.
manager.
Coby didn’t yell at her or treat her like a maid. She didn’t even know why he was so kind to her. She thought, ‘Is it just because of our relationship in bed? Is he like this with all his partners? Maybe that is what makes him unique! People said that the staff at Ford Group really respected him. In just two years, he became the company’s g Even if he was the previous boss’s son, he couldn’t win people over if he didn’t satisfy the board.
And he did it, proving his ability
He was capable at work, and so was he in his personal life.
Lia had breakfast with him, and she was g
getting a lot more attention than she expected.
“Not hungry!” seeing that she hadn’t eaten much, Coby asked with concern.
Lia saw the butler gasp
“No, it’s really good.” Her reply made the butler relax.
It was clear that everyone in the villa was paying attention to what Coby said.
Lia, feeling a bit awkward, quickly put a pierogi on her plate when he looked at her.
“Just tell the chef if you want anything else,” said Coby.
“Okay.” Lia replied absentmindedly

“Got it, sir” Olly and the other servants exchanged surprised looks, now seeing Lia, the first girl Coby brought home, în a new light.
Lia ate her pierogi slowly, thinking he was being too nice to her
After breakfast, they left together.
The villa was buzzing with talk.
“Is this young lady going to be our future mistress?” A younger maid whispered eagerly.
“Definitely, when has our master ever brought a woman home! Except for his mom and Molly.” An older maid said with
certainty.
“The most important thing is that they’re sharing a room.”
“And I saw something on Ms. Phillips’s neck…”
“Yeah, I saw it too. So many!”
The servants gathered around, all talking at once.
“I can’t believe the master is so into it. Before, Ada was naked and he didn’t even react.”
“Exactly, wow…
“What a
are you guys talking about?” Just as everyone was talking excitedly, Olly walked in, hands behind his back.
“Nothing.”
“Olly, I’m just wiping the table:
I’m mopping the floor.”
The group quickly scattered, all getting busy-
“If you keep gossiping, you’re out of here,” threatened Olly.
The whole hall went silent.
Lia was officially reporting to Ford Group next Monday, but she had some free time this week to visit Layla at the hospital.
Tia, what are you doing here again? You don’t need to worry about me. I’m fine, and if you have time, go out with your boyfriend. Don’t waste your time on me when you finally have a break.” Layla hoped Lia would spend more time with her boyfriend
Lia said, “Grandma, he’s busy with work.”
Telling one lie necessitated more
to cover it up, and Lia really felt that.
After telling Layla she had a boyfriend, Layla got super interested in him.

“Oh really? Lia, what does he do?” asked Layla,
“He Lia paused for a second and said, “Grandma, he works at a company.”
Every time Lia lied, she felt guilty.
Layla asked, “Is his job stable? I’m not asking for him to be rich, but I do want him to have a stable job. That way, your future will be better.”
Layla couldn’t help but worry about Lia’s future in this fast–paced, materialistic world.
“Without support from her family, Lia might get mistreated by her husband’s family, she thought.
Lia assured Layla. “Yes, it’s stable. Don’t worry, Grandma.”
“Our family doesn’t have much. I wonder if his family minds. La, am I holding you back?” asked Layla.
“No, Grandma! Without you, I would’ve been sent to an orphanage long ago. Who knows how I’d end up? You’re my lucky star, Lia said and then hugged Layla, feeling grateful.
“You’re my lucky star, too. You’re such a thoughtful child,” said Layla, happily.
Lia and Layla laughed and chatted, and the time passed quickly Soon, Olive brought lunch.
“Lia, Olive’s here. You should go rest now, Layla said
Yeah, Lia, go back to work. That’s how you make money,” echoed Olive.
She wanted Lia to make more money since she was helping take care of Layla. Besides, Lia even paid her for helping out; otherwise, she wouldn’t have come.
“Olive, stop thinking about work all the time. Lia, go have some fun with your boyfriend” Layla wasn’t happy that Olive always brought up money. She knew how much Lia had sacrificed for this family.
“Grandma, I don’t have anything to do right now.” Lia finished tidying up the table so Layla could eat.
“A boyfriend? Lia, you really have a boyfriend? When did that happen? What’s his family like? They can’t poor, can they
Olive asked
She had been thinking about this for a while. She knew Lia could never marry into the Allen family, but with her looks, she could easily land another rich man.
Olive didn’t want Lia to marry too soon, since after marriage, she wouldn’t be able to take money from Lia. Plus, if Issac liked her and took her in, that would be even better.
But now that her husband had been kicked out of the Allen family villa, she figured it was hopeless. It might be better for Lia to marry a wealthy man as soon as possible.
“Olive, what’s with that attitude? As long as Lia’s happy, we, as elders, should just bless her Layla said, getting upset.
“Old Mrs. Phillips, it’s not like that. If he’s poor. Lia will suffer. Of course, I want Lia to find someone good. Right, Lia?” said Olive
She didn’t want Lis to marry into a poor family, or they wouldn’t get anything out of it.
“Grandma, Mom, his family’s just average, but he’s really good to me.” Lia knew how Olive was, so she quickly made up a
story.
Olive said in a sarcastic tone, “Average? How average? I hope he at least has a house. Where will you two live otherwise? You

can’t rent forever, night
Money was important in big cities. Even though they’d worked for years, they still lived in an old, small house in the suburbs. Now that housing prices were high, without a house, how could she allow Lia to get married?
“Mom, we’ve just started dating,” said Lin.
Then you need to make sure he’s rich. If he’s not, just break up Olive obviously didn’t like Lia’s boyfriend because she already had someone else in mind, and that person was a great match
“What are you saying?” Layla shot a glare at Olive.
Olive couldn’t really upset Layla, so she forced a smile and said, “Hehe, Old Mrs. Phillips, don’t be mad. Let’s eat. Lia, just go mind your own things. I’ll take care of Old Mrs. Phillips.”
“Lia. go stay with your boyfriend,” Layla said with a smile.
Lia understood what Layla was doing and knew she was saying this on purpose in front of Olive. So, she responded, “Okay. Grandma, Mom, I’ll head out now.”
“So, she’s really going to find her boyfriend? I still. sighed Olive.
“Olive, bring me the lunchbox,” Layla called out.
“Coming,” Olive said, pouting, but didn’t say anything else.
As soon as Lia stepped out of the hospital, she got a call from an unknown number.
“You bitch, it’s because of you that Issac broke up with me. You really think you’re going to be with him forever? Dream on. The woman’s angry voice almost cracked the phone, but Lia’s face didn’t change.
Lia said, “Ms. Hall, I’ve already left Allen Group. If you want Issac, you’ll have to call him yourself. I’m not his secretary anymore, and I’m not interested in hearing all this pointless stuff
“What? You’ve left?” Iris was stunned on the other end of the line. You’re lying, right? There’s no way you left. Did Issac dump you?”
Lia pinched the bridge of her nose, her voice steady. “Ms. Hall, I don’t have any relationship with him.”
“You really think I’ll believe you?” Iris didn’t believe she’d give up on Issac,
“Believe what you want. I’ve never been his anything, and I’m done with this conversation. Goodbye. Lia hung up without hesitation, looking up at the blue sky and white clouds, a faint smile on her face.
Time for a fresh start. She should probably change her phone number too,
She thought she didn’t owe the Allen family anything anymore.
But now, where should she go?
Her life had revolved around Issac for so long, so it had been pretty simple. Lia only had one close friend, Cora, and she should be at work now, so Lia didn’t want to bother her.
Lia scrolled through her contacts. Besides her former colleagues and Cora, everyone else was either a client or one of Issac’s
friends.
Since Issar often went MIA, she used to contact his friends to find him.
She kept scrolling until Coby’s name jumped out at her. ‘Can he pretend to by my boyfriend?
