For this golden anniversary banquet, numerous wealthy and powerful families gathered, making it a vibrant and well- attended event.

Lia stood beside him, watching the crowd of powerful people, hoping she wouldn’t run into anyone from the Allen family. 

Coby gently bent his arm, and Lia quickly linked hers with his. 

“Remember, you’re my girlfriend now,” he reminded her. 

“Yes, Mr. Ford, Lia nodded firmly. 

“What did you just say?” Goby frowned, clearly not happy. 

“Sorry, Coby Lia had always seen their relationship as one of superior and subordinate, so she instinctively called him Mr. 

Ford 

As the future heir to Ford Group, and someone who had made a name for himself in both politics and business, Coby was someone everyone wanted to please. 

“Coby, long time no see, you’re even more impressive than before, Robbie, the host, greeted him warmly. 

“Mr. Reid, you’re too kind,” said Coby. 

Robbie’s sharp eyes scanned the scene and then smiled, asking, Coby, who’s this?” 

At a golden anniversary banquet, most of the people attending were either married or in a relationship, so Robbie could. easily guess who the other person was, but he still hoped he was wrong, 

“Mr. Reid, this is my girlfriend, Lia, Coby said affectionately, pulling her closer. 

“Ah, a perfect match; you two look great together, Robbie said. 

Robbie was a little disappointed but kept up appearances. He admired Coby a lot and had even hoped to match him with his granddaughter, but since that plan hadn’t been carried out yet and Coby already had a girlfriend, it was a shame. 

Thank you, Mr. Reid.” Coby looked at the small woman beside him and gently squeezed her hand. “Lia, this is Mr. Reid.” “Hi, Mr. Reid, I’m Lia. Lla greeted Robbie politely, following Coby’s lead. 

“Lia, nice name. Robbie’s mind started racing, ‘whose daughter is she? But he had no clue. 

Coby understood what Robbie was thinking. After wrapping up bis conversation with Robbie, he led Lia to a VIP seat. 

He didn’t join the big shots‘ discussion, instead staying by her side. 

Lia said, “Coby, you don’t need to worry about me.” 

A lot of people tried to talk to Coby, but he turned them away, using the excuse that he was keeping her company. Lia felt a brit guilty about it. 

Coby said, “It’s more about me not wanting to deal with them; it nothing personal.”

But leg might’ve been reading too much into it. 

“But He gave her hand a slight squeeze. 

“What?” Lia looked at him, confused. 

“You’re just too dazzling. I can’t let others stare at you,” said Coby. 

Lia pursed her lips. She thought. If anyone is dazzling, it’s him. If I weren’t by his side, no one would even notice me! 

Thankfully, this event wasn’t open to the public. Otherwise, she could already imagine the gossip that would spread 

tomorrow

Lia mostly just listened quietly, answering every so often, but it was always him leading the conversation. 

Coby was super popular. His first public appearance after coming back to the country was at this golden anniversary banquet, and that made people wonder about his intentions.

After sending someone else away, Coby put a dessert in front of Lia. “Eat something first, so that you won’t feel hungry

He was thoughtful–he didn’t just focus on himself, he was always considerate of those around him. 

Coby said, “Lia, you seem nervous” 

Yeah, just a little,” said Lia 

Everyone was watching and whispering, unsure of what to say but able to guess a thing or two. 

After graduating from college, Coby took over the family business, but he didn’t go straight to the main company. 

He started with Ford Group’s overseas branches. Everyone thought he’d just coast on his background, but in just two years. he expanded the company’s reach overseas. 

It wasn’t until last month that he came back to the country and officially became General Manager of Ford Group. Now, no one dared underestimate him. 

In business, he was known for being decisive and ruthless, and there were never any rumors about his personal life. 

A man like that suddenly brought a woman to a golden anniversary banquet–no wonder people were gossiping. 

It was pretty obvious this would lead to misunderstandings. Lia finally understood why he brought her. 

He was so impressive that many high–ranking people were eager to introduce their daughters or granddaughters to him. Some even made offers right in front of Lia, but he turned them all down. 

Lia thought he must be a good family man–something rare in the profit–driven upper class. 

Im going to the bathroom,” said Lia. 

He gently squeezed her waist. “Do you want me to come with you?” 

“It’s line. I’ll be right back: Lia quickly shook her head. If he went with her to the bathroom, many more rumors would start. 

Coby understood she felt uncomfortable, so he didn’t press her. Take your time.”

“Okay” Lia stood up and walked out, while he watched her slender figure disappear. 

In the bathroom, a few women were fixing their makeup and chatting. 

“Did you see? Coby, who just got back to the country, actually brought a woman. A woman in a silver dress said. 

Don’t even mention it. That woman stole all the attention. Everyone’s focused on her,” another woman said. 

Wherever there were women, there was always competition. They were all dressed to impress, sparkling and full of charm. but in the end, they were just background to someone else’s success. It made them even more frustrated, 

“What’s the big deal? I’m just curious what she has that made Coby fall for her. She’s not even that pretty. Another woman who had undergone cosmetic surgery scoffed. 

She continued. “Everyone’s here for Coby, not her. That woman doesn’t belong in our league.” 

“Exactly. She’s dressed like she’s wearing lingerie, just showing off her body. The woman in the red dress pushed out her chest, clearly upset. It’s not even as good as mine.” 

Lia found their words ausing, but at the same time, she was curious to hear more. People were always so contradictory. 

“But aren’t Fours fake?” Another woman rolled her eyes. 

“So what if they’re fake? Men still don’t know. At least they’re better than your flat chest. The woman in the red dress sneered 

You re the one with a flat chest. The shorter woman couldn’t take that insult. “I’m not like someone else, pretending too much. Those men aren’t fools–they’re not holding onto a rock 

“You” The two women started arguing with each other. 

“Can you two stop? It’s so annoying” one of the women snapped 

The other two immediately quieted down and flattered her. “That woman can’t compare to you, Iris. She’s way prettier.” 

“Exactly, anyone with eyes can see Iris is the most beautiful, echoed the other woman. 

Iris Hall lified her chin arrogantly. Talking about this is pointless. That woman’s got some tricks; she used to be Issac’s 

secretary. 

“Really? How do you know?” the woman in the red dress asked. 

“How could I not know? Issac and I used to date, and that woman kept sucking up to him. He just treated her like a maid— calling her whenever he needed her and then dismissing her, explained Iris. 

Iris had always been the one dumping men, but now that Issac dumped her, she couldn’t get over it 

“Oh my god. 1 didn’t know she was like that. The woman gasped. “I didn’t realize she had that much power” 

The women started gossiping again, all about Lia 

No matter how calm Lia was, she couldn’t just ignore it. 

Bang! The door opened, and as soon as the women saw who was coming out, they all shut up. 

Lia ignored their stares and calmly washed her hands. “Ms. Hall, told you, there’s nothing between Issac and me. Stop spreading rumors,“ 

She shot a cold glance at the other women. “See this gown I’m wearing? I’m sure you all know what it is. If not, just Google it.

Lia pointed to her chest. “This is real.” 

After saying that, she walked out calmly, leaving the women staring at each other. 

“She doesn’t look like a maid at all.” The woman who spoke was clearly intimidated 

“Yeah, up close, she’s really beautiful,” said another. 

And another said. Her figure is amazing, and most importantly it’s real” 

The woman in the red dress was livid. 

Inis wasn’t much better. “What are you talking about? Hurry up and leave. Do you want to embarrass yourselves?” 

The women quickly followed Iris out. 

Lia went back to her seat, and when she noticed everyone looking at her, she was a little confused but continued eating in 

silence. 

“How about trying this?” Coby eagerly added some food to her plate. 

“Thanks” Lia thought she should return the gesture, so she added food to his plate. 

“Look at these two, they’re so sweet together. A few elders at the table complimented them. 

Lia glanced at Coby awkwardly, worried he wouldn’t like it, but he seemed happy. 

After the meal. Coby took her hand and led her out, staying close to her the whole time.. 

Suddenly, he pulled her into a hallway around the corner. 

“Coby, what’s going on?” Lia asked, startled. 

He leaned one hand against the wall, pulling her into his arms. 

“Hug me.” His eyes softened, and he smiled gently. “Please” 

Lia froze for a moment, and then quickly wrapped her arms around him. 

Why was he asking her to hug him? They were on the other side of the hallway, after all 

While she was thinking, he said, “Lia, I want to kiss you.” 

Before she could respond, he cupped her chin and kissed her slowly. 

Lia was totally confused, not understanding why he was acting this way. 

But his kiss felt even more intense than before. 

On the other side of the hallway, Issac looked around, and Frostina, who was holding his arm, asked, “What are you looking at, darling? 

Frostina saw that Issar wasn’t paying attention and guested he was eyeing another beauty. 

Issac only cared about looking at pretty women–what was she to him? 

“I wasn’t looking at anything,” Issac said, sounding annoyed.

Yet, he thought, Weird I could’ve sworn I saw a guy holding Lia’s hand just now, but now they’re gone. 

He continued. But how could that woman be here? Could I be imagining things because I’ve been so annoyed by her lately?” 

Issac was feeling tense. He hadn’t slept well in the past few days. 

It must just be an illusion. There’s no way Lia would be holding hands with another man. That woman is super conservative. he thought. 

“Babe, let’s go. It’s freezing out here, said Frostina 

She knew what Issac liked, so she purposely rubbed against his arm. 

Issac shook his arm off. “We’re in public, so watch it 

“Oh.” Frostina pouted. He didn’t used to act like this with her. 

They turned down a hallway. 

“Babe, we’re going the wrong way. The exit’s over there. Frostira pointed out. 

“Do you think I don’t know that?” Issac shot her a quick, annoyed glance. 

They say two people kissing openly in public, all passionate and intense. 

Coby had his back to him, so Issac couldn’t see his face, but the woman looked like Lia.
