Chapter 14
Lia beneath him closed her eyes tightly, even her breathing out of rhythm
It was obvious she was nervous, even a little uneasy, but she stayed obedient, letting him take whatever he wanted.
But Coby didn’t just want her obedience, he wanted more.
His kiss abruptly stopped, and Lia slowly opened her eyes to find him staring at her intently
“Coby,” she wondered if she did something wrong
He sighed. “Lia, kiss me.”
She obediently leaned in, but her kiss was rigid.
He quickly took control, sweeping over her like a storm.
She felt like a drowning bird, only able to hold onto him to have any hope of surviving.
But somehow Coby seemed angry.
Lia didn’t think about it anymore, because he didn’t give her any chance. Is he trying to prove something thought she
Unconsciously, she loosened her grip on the blanket and instead wrapped her arms around him
Coby seemed pleased, and he became even more passionate.
Moonlight spilled over them, gentle and intimate.
She gradually lost herself.
Lia overslept the next day. This was her second time making love. After her first time, she had a cold, but now she wasn’t sick; her body just hurt so much, as though it had been run over by a truck. Any movement caused intense pain.
Her eyes were sore and tired, but she had to force herself to get up
Coby was full of energy, tying his tie and looking completely unruffled, despite having only slept after sunrise and barely getting a few hours of rest.
“Coby,” she softly called.
“Rest well” He cupped her shoulder to stop her from getting up, and placed a kiss on her forehead.
“Is there anything I need to do today?” asked Lia.
“Do you really want to do something?” said Coby.
She lowered her gaze, then looked at him and smiled faintly, “I took your money, didn’t I?”
He patted her head “Rest
Lia refused. “Once I rest too much, I get lazier.”
Back in the Allen villa, there was a time when Lia overslept and didn’t wake Issac up on time, causing him to be late for school, and the servants blamed her.

Later, Luna punished her by making her fast for a whole day. Although it was a small punishment, it left a deep impression on her.
“Shouldn’t my woman rest? Sleep well and get up for breakfast. Coby insisted on not letting her get up.
Lia stared at him, then finally gave in.
In the Allen villa, she had no time for herself. Everything she did had to be according to Luna’s wishes, or Issac’s. She couldn’t make mistakes, and if she did, she’d be scolded or even sent away.
Lia feared being left alone. No matter what, she always strived for perfection
Back then, she was like a walking corpse, but now, because of Coby, she could leave the Allen family with money and try to meet his expectations.
“Thank you.” Lia was very tired.
She had held on for so long, but finally, a guy named Coby told her not to push herself any longer, assuring her it was expected. It seemed like she didn’t want to keep going either.
“But is that really okay? She didn’t have an answer.
After he left, Lia slept for another hour before waking up. It wasn’t that she didn’t want to sleep, but she was used to getting up early
Getting herself together, she went downstairs. Everyone was looking at her, and she felt a little uneasy.
“Ms. Phillips, please have your meal, Olly said respectfully.
Lia said, “Thank you.”
Normally, she would make breakfast for Issac, but now, someone else had made it for her
After breakfast, as Lia was about to leave, she got a call from Coby
She said, “Hi, Coby”
“Hmm, did the food suit your taste?” Coby had instructed the kitchen to keep it light, unsure if she’d like it.
Lia glanced toward the table. “It’s good.”
He thought for a moment and then softly said. “There’s medicine in the nightstand. I applied some for you this morning. If you’re still uncomfortable, you can apply more.”
Lia couldn’t help but blush. I’m fine now; thank you for helping
She didn’t know when he had applied the medicine, nor did she remember when she had fallen asleep.
Coby then asked, “Where do you want to go? I’ll have the car ready.”
Lia hadn’t taken the car he arranged when she left Skyview Villas a few days ago, and now he was specifically reminding her.
Thanks. You take ireasy at noon,” she said, as he probably hadn’t gotten much sleep either.
The comer of Coby’s mouth couldn’t help but curl up Wiright
She said, “I won’t disturb you at work, goodbye.”
The call ended, and Coby rubbed his swollen temples, his smile returning.

Chapter 14
Just then, the office door was knocked on.
Coby said, “Come in.”
“Mr. Ford, the meeting for this afternoon has been arranged,” Owen reminded.
Coby said, “Move the meeting to the afternoon
“Understood, I’ll arrange that right away. What about noon?” asked Owen.
Owen was surprised. Coby had asked for the meeting to be at noon this morning, and now it had changed to the afternoon. Coby was as unpredictable as the weather.
Coby replied curtly. “Rest”
Owen’s mouth fell open. ‘Did I hear that right? Rest? This is another shocking moment after Mr. Ford skipped work the other day:
Owen had never taken a nap before, but ΠΟΥΛΑ, he finally could.
Lia arrived at the hospital and ran into Remy again
“Lia, ape you here to see your grandmother?” Remy greeted her warmly.
Lia said. “Yes, Dr. Walker, hello.”
They had already discussed the surgery time last time, and Lia trusted Remy’s abilities
“Oh. Isn’t this Dr. Walker? Hello! Olive always got excited when she saw Remy,
Remy was handsome, a doctor, and though his family wasn’t wealthy, they were well–off. Olive had been trying to set up her daughter, Frances Phillips, with him, but every time, Remy was busy.
“Mrs. Phillips, Lia, excuse me, I still have something to do,” Remy said, nodding at them before walking away.
“Hey. Dr. Walker, I wasn’t done talking!” Olive said, displeased, “Dr. Walker is always so busy”
Lia just smiled without speaking. Someone as smart as Remy must have known what Olive meant, but he just didn’t want to reject her directly.
They arrived at the ward.
Layla saw Lia and smiled. “Lia, you’re here again? I’m fine.”
Lia said, “Grandma, I missed you.”
Coby had given her a few days off, so she could spend more time with Layla.
Olive returned to the room. “Lia, how’s it going with the guy? Does he have a house? What’s his situation like?”
Yesterday, the mautunaker came again. Olive had used the excuse of taking care of Layla to delay things, but it couldn’t be delayed forever.
Olive was thinking about when to bring the guy over so they could meet and get to know each other.
“Olive, go back, Layla said, disapproving of Olive’s materialistic attitude.

“Old Mrs. Phillips, Tm doing this for Lia’s good. You know, the family makes a lot of money. Their
next door sells pork and son likes Lia, so I thought…”
As long as Lia marries him, he promised 150 thousand dollars as an engagement gift. Isn’t that a huge sum of money? Olive thought.
“What? You want Lia to marry into their family?” Layla was furious.
It wasn’t that Layla was against their family being in the meat business, but their son had been married before, and his wife had left him, claiming he was violent. How could Layla have ever agreed to this?
This old woman has such a big mouth, how could she say that out loud thought Olive.
She explained, “Old Mrs. Phillips, I heard he doesn’t hit women anymore, so he’s perfect for Lia.”
Olive didn’t care whether he hit anyone or not, as long as there was money. After all, it wasn’t her own daughter marrying him, so she didn’t mind.
*Mom. I already have a boyfriend. I won’t agree to this. You can give up now.” Lia firmly rejected it.
“How could you say something like that? Get out! I don’t ever want to see you again!” Layla snapped angrily.
“Grandma, please don’t get upset. Calm down.” Lia hurriedly tried to comfort her.
Olive played the family card. “Lia, don’t be mad at me. I’m just trying to help. Even though their family is in the meat business, they own several shops. They may not be in a prime location anymore, but if you marry him, you’ll live a comfortable life.”
She added. “Plus, they’re from a demolition area. Even though I’m your adoptive mother, I still want you to live well. Marrying useless men will only ruin your good looks.”
If there was no benefit, she wouldn’t care.
“Didn’t I tell you to leave? Are you trying to drive me crazy? I thought you were just small–minded and a bit selfish, but I was wrong. You’re actually trying to push Lia into hell! Layla angrily pounded the bed.
Lia said, “Grandma, please don’t be angry. Don’t let it affect your health.
Olive echoed, “Yeah, Old Mrs. Phillips. I’m only doing this for Lin’s sake. Don’t get mad?”
Olive saw Layla’s face turn pale with anger and got scared. If she caused her to have a heart attack, her husband would scold her to death. Then Lia would never speak to them again, and they’d lose even more.
“I already have a boyfriend. I don’t care what his family situation is. I won’t be with anyone else.” Lia made her stance clear.
“You.” Olive was furious that her adoptive daughter was so stubborn, but she still kept a polite exterior.
“Lia, your dad lost his job, and your grandmother needs so much money. Aren’t you thinking about sharing the burden of the family? Why only think about yourself?” asked Olive.
Layla said, “How can you say something like that? Zach lost his job because he’s incompetent. Why should Lia bear the burden? When has Lia only thought of herself? You’re the one who constantly asks Lia for money. Olive, we owe Lia, not the other way around
e more
Layla felt more and more sorry for Lia. She couldn’t believe Olive was not only ungrateful but also getting i demanding.
“Grandma, please don’t say that. I wouldn’t be here without you Lia comforted Layla and then looked at Olive. The money for Grandma comes from me. If you think I’m not contributing, please show me the money you’ve provided.”

Chapter 14
“What are you talking about? I don’t have any money!” said Olive
She wouldn’t spend a penny. “Old Mrs. Phillips, Zach’s unemployed, and I have no money. I’m going to look for a job, so I won’t be able to visit you for a while.”
Seeing that they weren’t listening, Olive wasn’t going to waste any more time on this.
Layla burst into tears and pounded her chest. “I don’t know what sin I committed, giving birth to such a weak son who married such a selfish woman.”
“Grandma, let me take care of you. I’m about to have surgery. Please don’t get angry. We need to stay in a good mood.” Lia gently soothed Layla.
“Lia, what would I do without you?”
After this incident, Lia became more certain that she would buy a small house for Layla to stay in. Since they weren’t taking care of her, Lia would hire a nurse to care for her after the surgery.
She wasn’t sure how long Coby’s interest in her would last, but perhaps it wouldn’t last long.
In the meantime, she would work hard at Ford Group and save more money.
“Lia, I’m so sorry for you. Olive has done something so terrible
Layla knew exactly what kind of person Olive was, someone who was greedy for money. After all these years, there no change.
“Grandma, don’t worry. I won’t agree to this. Besides, I already have a boyfriend”
“Lia, don’t worry about me. Focus on your relationship with your boyfriend, and don’t come back. I’m worried Olive might… Layla feared that Olive might have hidden motives.

Lia said, “Grandma, I’ll handle it. Dr. Walker said the surgery is scheduled for this Saturday. Let’s keep a good mood and not let these small things upset us.”
Layla sighed. “Lia, my poor granddaughter.”
Lia didn’t feel sorry for herself; at least she had Layla’s support.
Olive was furious. She had been running around doing everything for Layla these past few days, with no credit for her hard. work, only to have Layla turn her back on her.
“Mom, what did Lia say?” Frances asked absentmindedly while filing her nails.
Olive said, “Your grandmother doesn’t agree.
Frances said, “Grandma’s really something, huh? Who’s really family? She’s getting old, isn’t she? Lia’s going to marry someone sooner or later. Will she still think of us? There’s no blood relation. Mom, what should we do?”
Frances was hoping to get rich and live a luxurious life. Otherwise, how could she marry a rich man?
Previously, she had tried to use Lia’s relationship with Issac to get close to him, but he didn’t care for her at all. She was sure her Lia must have spoken badly about her to Issac. With her looks, Issac would have been interested if not for that. It was all
Lia’s fault.
Olive said, “How should I know? just focus on your job and stop asking me for money. Your dad got laid off, and there’s no money left in the house.”
She also wished Frances could marry into a rich family, but it was just not meant to be.

“I know, Other people’s parents are millionaires, and my dad is a servant, Frances complained.
Olive felt a pang of sadness. She couldn’t refute Frances’s words. It was true they were useless.

Lia helped Layla fall asleep and then checked her account balance on her phone. Coby had given her 3 million. She returned 1.5 million to Luna and paid the hospital and surgery fees, leaving her with over 1 million.
Over the years, she had come to understand what kind of people they were
If it weren’t for Layla insisting on raising her, they wouldn’t have agreed to take her in.
Back then, even though Irina gave her a good education, she still had to cover her own living expenses. Layla was old and no one would hire her, so they had to scavenge for things to sell.
Because of this. Issac even called her a garbage girl.
Lia remembered the days of picking up cardboard and bottles with Layla to sell. It was hard work, but it was also a happy
tune.
She wanted to buy a small house, to live with Layla. As for her adoptive parents, she felt she no longer owed them anything.
While checking her phone, she suddenly got a call from Coby.
Today, he’d been calling a lot, more than usual.
Lia stepped into the hallway to answer the call “Coby.”
“You’re not at home,” he said. “What have you been busy with every day?”
Coby usually didn’t like interfering in others‘ private lives, but she was an exception.
“Hmm, I have something going on,” Lia replied, not going into detail. She’d never mentioned her family situation or Layla’s illness to him.
“What’s going on?” asked Coby.
“I… She didn’t continue
“Is it something you can’t talk about?” asked Coby.
Lia said. “Coby, is there something you need to talk to me about?
“Nothing much. Just checking in,” answered Coby,
Lia said, “Oh.”
Silence spread. Lia didn’t know how to start a conversation, while he was thinking about what to say.
“Tomorrow, I’m going to a banquet. The tie I have at home doesn’t fit. After work, can you come with me to buy one?” he added. “With your taste.”
Lia said, “Okay, what time do you finish work? I’ll wait downstairs at the Ford Group building”
Coby said, “6 o’clock: come then.
Dia checked the time, she still had a few hours, so there was time to bring a caregiver. “Okay”
