Chapter 19
“Grandma, Dr. Walker will be here soon, so don’t overthink it.” Lia gently stroked Layla’s chest, speaking softly to calm her
down.
Layla heard their conversation, squeezed Lia’s hand, and seemed like she wanted to say something but stopped. “Lia.”
Frances cut in. “Lia, where did you find this guy who’s trying to fool us? Don’t think I’ll buy it.”
How could she possibly have gotten married out of nowhere? Frances didn’t believe it; this had to be for show.
Tm already married, whether you believe it or not. I make my own choices. If something happens to Grandma, you’re not getting away with it. Lia never argued with Frances because of Layla, but when it came to Layla, she wouldn’t hold back.
“You really think I’m scared of you? You’re just someone Grandma adopted, what makes you think you can boss me around?” Frances stomped her foot angrily, then glanced at Layla, her nervousness showing.
If something happened to Layla, explaining it to her dad would be tough.
“Say one more word, and I don’t mind hitting a woman” Not hitting women was his line, but this Frances had crossed it.
“Coby Lis hadn’t expected him to say something like that to protect her.
Coby in front of her looked cold, his powerful presence making everyone uneasy, Frances, now, didn’t dare keep going.
m not scared of you. Lia, remember that.” Frances didn’t dare stay any longer and left, defeated.
Soon. Remy and the medical team arrived.
“It’s just stress, nothing serious. We need to keep the patient calm and in a good mood. After the checkup, they confirmed that Layla was fine.
Thank you, doctor.” Lia felt relieved.
“It’s our job as doctors.” While the medical team was checking. Remy walked over to Coby and quietly asked, “You two got married
He’d overheard their conversation just outside the door.
Coby gave him a meaningful look but didn’t deny it.
“Let’s step outside and talk.” If he didn’t get this sorted out, Remy wouldn’t be able to sleep tonight.
The two left the ward, and Remy asked, still shocked, “Coby, when did you get married? That came out of nowhere.”
This was more surprising than finding out he even had a girlfriend.
Isn’t getting married normal? Coby thought, and then replied casually, “Half an hour ago
“What? Half an hour ago?” Remy didn’t believe it. He thought, So they really eloped? Aren’t they just getting to know each
other?
Remy had already been shocked when he found out Coby was dating, but this? Getting married so fast was mind–blowing
Remy said, “Did someone put a spell on you? But Lia doesn’t seem like the type to do that.”
Coby shot him a warning look, and Remy wisely kept quiet.

Chapter 19
After talking to Reniy, Coby returned to the ward. Layla still hadn’t woken up.
Seeing him come in, Lia stood up, “Coby, thanks for helping out
Coby squeezed her hand. “Do we really need to be so formal with each other?”
Lia smiled. “Anyway, thanks
He wrapped his arm around her waist and reminded her, “I dont hit women”
“Noted” She, of course, believed him.
Then he added. “Except when it’s someone bullying you.”

Lia suddenly realized how protective he was. Just as she was abour to thank him again, he touched her lips with his finger. “Shh. I don’t want to hear it. This is just what I’m supposed to do as your husband.”
She bit her lip and nodded.
Coby continued. “Remy–guggested moving your grandma to another room. During the surgery, we need to keep her mood
stable
“Okay Lia agreed. It would be better for Layla to be in a different room.
Her foster parents came by all the time, and Layla’s emotions were all over the place.
He looked at her with affection. “Don’t worry, I’ll arrange for someone to take care of your grandma the whole time. During this period, just focus on taking care of her, you don’t have to work for now.”
“I can come to see Grandma after work,” she said, not wanting to disrupt his original plans because of her.
“Think of it as a break for our wedding.” he replied.
“I know you don’t want to trouble me, but we’re already married, and your grandma is my family too. It’s my duty to take care of her.” he added.
He gently patted her head. “If anything happens, don’t bear it alone. I’m here with you”
This sentence might have been the sweetest thing Lia had ever heard.
She had always been around others, but now, Coby was saying he would be there for her. Even if it was just for a short time, it still moved her.
Coby really was different from what she had imagined,
He thought about others, even if there were ulterior motives.
Their gazes locked, and he slowly leaned down.
Lia knew what he intended and instinctively licked her lips.
“Ahem… The sudden cough interrupted them.
“Grandma,” Lia said. happily holding Layla’s hand.
ay
Lia slipped away from Coby’s arms, and he gently twirled his fingers, savoring the soft, tender touch.
“Lia Layla opened her tired eyes and looked at Lia through tear filled eyes. “Lia, no matter what Olive and the others say, I hope you can find your own happiness.”

She was old and didn’t have much time left. She couldn’t bear to see Lia’s life ruined.
“Grandma, I will, Lia said, with tears in her eyes as she hugged layla.
“Good girl.” Layla stroked Lia’s back, tears streaming down uncontrollably.
Both Layla and Lia cried. Coby had intended to comfort them, but in the end, he didn’t. He thought perhaps it was only through this way that Lia’s emotions could be released.
After a while, their emotions slowly calmed down.
Layla shifted her gaze to the impressive man standing next to La She thought she had heard something earlier, but wasn’t
“Lia, who is that?” asked Layla.
Coby smiled as he walked over, wrapping his arm around the soft waist of Lia, gently wiping away the tears on her face, waiting for her response.
He handed the initiative ever to her.
Lia sniffled giving a faint smile, and extended her hand with the ring on it.
“Grandma, this is Coby. We’ve already gotten married.”
“Married?” Layla exclaimed, realizing she hadn’t heard wrong–a really had gotten married.
“Lia, how did it happen so fast?” Layla was happy that Lia had found her ideal partner, but they’d gotten married in just a few days.
It wasn’t just the grandmother who didn’t believe it–Lia thought that if she had heard it from someone else, she would have doubted too.
“Grandma, Coby and I… She looked at him, wondering how to explain so that Layla would believe her.
Coby spoke up just in time, “It was me who wanted to marry Lia and I couldn’t wait. Thank you for trusting me and letting me be her husband. I will never let her down.”
Lia looked at him in surprise. He said it so sincerely that it almost sounded true.
Coby spoke with deep affection, and Layla felt happy for Lia. “La is he the one who’s liked you since high school?”
Liked her since high school?‘ Coby raised an eyebrow,
Lia felt embarrassed that Layla even remembered what she had said casually back then.
“No…” She tried to deny it, but Coby was quicker than her.
He said, “Yes. I’ve liked Lia since high school. I’ve always pursued her, but she never looked back. I kept moving forward, hoping that one day, she would notice me. I’ve always been silently in love with her
His affectionate gaze was like the sun in winter, wrapping her in warmth.
Lia was unconsciously drawn to him. She had thought he would question her, but instead, he was still playing along, and his acting was so good it was almost unbelievable.
If it hadn’t been for everything that had happened, it would have been hard for her not to believe him.
Seeing their tender interaction, Layla was deeply comforted. “Good, good. I told you someone would notice the goodness in

you. I’m happy for you both,
Layla extended her trembling hand, and Coby quickly took it.

She said, “You two take good care of each other. I believe in Lia’s judgment and trusts what you’ve said.”
Thank you, Grandma.” Lia suppressed the fluttering in her heart. As long as Layla believed, that was enough.
“Rest assured. I’ll take good care of Lia. Coby looked at Lia and made a promise.
“Alright, alright. Layla’s eyes turned wet again.
“Grandma. I’m married now. You should be happy. Why are you crying?” Lia’s nose tingled as she wiped the tears from Layla’s eyes.
Layla said. Tm just too happy, Lia, you have finally found a good chance to settle.”
With tear filled eyes, she looked at Coby, placing their hands together. “You must take good care of our Lia. She’s had a hard life. I will bless you both.
“Don’t worry. Grandma. I won’t let Lia down.” Coby tightly held her hand and looked at Lia with a gentle smile.
Lia silently thanked him in her heart for his support.
That day, under Remy’s coordination, Layla was moved to a different ward with a dedicated caregiver to watch over her 24/7. Lia knew that if it weren’t for Coby’s arrangements, it would never have been handled so quickly.
After meeting him again, she felt everything had changed.
That evening, Lia followed his lead to Ford Manor.
In the car, Coby noticed her nervousness and gently held her hand. “Don’t worry, I’ll take care of everything.”
Lia nodded with a smile. It wasn’t true that she wasn’t worried.
Their social status was extremely mismatched, especially when it came to a top–tier family like the Ford family. He should have married someone from an equal background.
Although Lia had already met Quinn and Quinn seemed to like her, she still lacked confidence.
“My family’s simple. Besides my parents, I have a younger sister who’s quite lively. You two should get along well” Coby introduced his family.
“Mm, my family…” Lia paused and decided to be honest. I’m an orphan. I don’t know where my biological parents are. I was raised by my grandmother and worked as a maid in the Allen family…”
He interrupted her, his expression soft. “In my eyes, you’re not a maid, you’re my wife.
It was such a touching word to her.
Lia’s heart stirred. Once, in her world, there were only servants and lower–class people, until she left the Allen family and met him.
Liq was sharp–minded, quiet when sad, and silent when happy.
Coby wrapped his arm around her slender waist and gently stroked her back. “Don’t overthink it. I’m here?”

With him here, it really felt wonderful.

Lia worried she was becoming too dependent on him,
him, afraid that when the time came to leave, she
e wouldn’t want to go.
She was selfish. Once she discovered something beautiful, she became attached to it, and might even have wanted to claim it for herself
When she heard Coby was bringing his wife back, Molly had already been waiting by the door.
As soon as the car arrived; she rushed to greet them.
“Coby, is this my sister–in–law? She’s so beautiful! Hello, I’m Molly Marsh. Does it seem strange? My brother’s surname is Ford, but mine is Marsh. It’s because I took my mom’s maiden name.
Molly affectionately linked arms with Lia and casually introduced her last name,
“Hello, Molly Taken off guard by her enthusiasm, Lia felt a bit uncomfortable.
“Molly, don’t scare her.” Coby gave Molly a warning glance.
“No.” Lia blushed and spoke
Molly made a funny face. “See? Lia isn’t upset.
Lia, is my brother hard to get along with? He’s always like this.
“Lia, how did my brother win you over? He doesn’t have a romantic bone in his body.”
Molly was cute and well–behaved, lively, and nonstop talking, even poking fun at Coby.
Lia stole a glance at Coby beside her. She actually thought he was easy to get along with, and as for romance, he didn’t seem to be lacking either.
“Molly.” Coby’s voice grew low,
Molly quickly backed down, saying, “Lia, let’s go inside.” She didn’t want to anger Coby.
Coby domineeringly wrapped his arm around Lia’s slender waist. Lia blushed and squirmed slightly. Why wasn’t he being at all considerate?
Molly noticed it and asked, “Coby, Lia has such a slim waist. Dont you think so?”
She took the opportunity to stretch out her hand.
“Molly” His voice became even deeper.
The troublemaking wornan pouted her lips. “Is it really not okay to touch? You’re such a tightwad”
Lia said, “Coby.”
“Lia, let me tell you complained.
my brother is super stingy. When we were little, he even didn’t allow me to touch his toys” Molly
Coby pinched the bridge of his nose
“Especially about one thing… Molly was about to start.

Chapter 19
Coby threatened. “Molly, if you say another word, you can forget about staying in the design department.”
D
“Ah, Coby, I’m sorry, Lia, look at my brother–he only knows how to threaten met You have to be on my side!” Molly loved design, and Coby always knew just how to push her buttons.
That was why she hoped Coby would find a girlfriend soon, so she could call for backup when needed.
“Molly, I’m on your side. Lia made her position clear.
“Really on her side?” Coby asked with a laugh.
His hand gently squeezed her waist, and Lia shyly bit her lip as she glanced at the instigator.
Molly said. “Coby, you’re so childish arguing over this.”
Since Coby had brought a woman home and even gone straight to get married, Molly knew without a doubt how much he valued his wife.
In Ford Manor’s living room, Coby’s father, Bruce Ford, sat at the head of the table, while Coby’s mother, Quinn Ford, held Lia’s hand.
Bruce said, “Come, Lia Come sit down”
“Thank you” Lia thanked her first, then bowed to Bruce at the head of the table. “Hello,”
Coby’s parents both looked well–preserved, showing no signs of aging. Lia finally understood why Coby was so striking–he had inherited his parents‘ good looks.
“Why stand on ceremony? You’re married now, so you should address us casually to show endearment. I’m Quinn, and he’s Bruce Quinn patted Lia’s hand, looking more and more satisfied
Since Coby was little, Quinn had always taught him to actively pursue a girlfriend and never be like his father. But her parenting was a failure, and Quinn had thought about it for a long time.
____“Alright.” Lia obediently nodded.
“Ah, your voice sounds so much better than Coby’s, Quinn smiled, her mouth closing in happiness.
“Mom, how could you say that?” Molly teased
“Well, your brother is such a blockhead. Who does he take after Quinn asked.
“Ahem… Quinn.” Bruce, who had been silent up until now, couldn’t sit still any longer. He knew Quinn always liked to bring up past issues
Quinn said, “Lia, you’re feeling wronged being in our family. There are two men here who don’t understand romance, especially Coby. He’s even less considerate than his father.”
She had even once thought Coby was into men and often blamed Bruce for it.
“Mom…” said Coby
“Quinn…” said Bruce,
The two men who didn’t understand romance spoke the same time.
Lia glanced at Coby. He didn’t know how to be considerate? But she actually thought he was very thoughtful.
