Chapter 27
Lia’s steps were unsteady. If he hadn’t been holding her tightly, she might have collapsed in the next second.
The man kissed her wildly, oblivious to the surroundings.
Her mind buzzed, leaving no room for any other thought. His scent filled every breath she took
She didn’t know how much time had passed before Coly reluctantly pulled away,
“Are you okay?” Coby asked
Coming back to her senses, Lia nodded slightly. How was she supposed to face him now?
Their relationship wasn’t as simple as it once was. Feelings were involved from now on.
Coby saw her bowing her head and said softly, “You don’t need to feel troubled. I know you don’t like me.”
His tone was calm, as if he didn’t care.
But Coby cared deeply. He just knew that some things couldn’t be forced,
What he wanted was her willing heart, to have her completely, without any other factors involved.
Lia’s body stiffened, and he noticed.
She understood all too well what it felt like to love someone who didn’t love you back.
Is it worth it?” Lia had asked herself that question before. His answer back then had already hinted at this moment,
His cold, pale hand tucked the stray hair behind her ear, gently lifting her flushed face. “Lia, I don’t just want your body. I want your heart too.”
The warmth from his fingertips sent a faint electric current through her. Her heart trembled, unable to calm down. I’m sorry. I didn’t know you felt this way”
But even if she had known, what could she have done? She couldn’t respond to those feelings.
“There’s no need to apologize. It’s my fault for not telling you. Love isn’t about fairness. All I want is for your eyes to only see me in the future, even if you don’t love me. He gazed at her quietly, a soft smile spreading across his lips.
Lia had never seen him so humble before. An unfamiliar emotion rose in her chest, as though she were seeing her past self but without his courage.
Slowly, pain welled up in her heart. She didn’t know if it was for him or for herself.
Back in Skyview Villa, Lia had lost her usual composure since he said those words.
She didn’t resist his closeness, but she felt uneasy.
What kind of feelings did he face her with, knowing his efforts might not be reciprocated?
She used to think it was just a transaction, but now, everything was changing.
Her body was tense. Even in his arms, she felt further away than ever. That wasn’t what Coby wanted to see.
She was meticulous, yet soft–hearted, qualities that could eventually lead to confusion.

“Lia.” Coby leaned close to her face, his warm breath brushing against her skin. It made her shiver and instinctively shrug her shoulders.
“Hmm? Lia answered.
“I didn’t say those things to burden you. There’s still plenty of time. I can wait,” said Coby.
Those words felt heavy, and it wasn’t fair to him either.
Lia lifted her face from his chest. I’m just worried that I’ll break your heart.”
His heart softened, and he hugged her tightly. “No one knows better than me how lucky I am to wake up and see you every day.”
In the quiet room, something indescribable seemed to linger in the air. She was in his arms, her heartbeat quickening uncontrollably.
At the Allen family mansion, a cup shattered on the floor, the sound echoing through the room.
Jenny couldn’t understand why he was so furious. Even if Lia was with Coby, it had nothing to do with him.
“So they’re together now.” The thought of their kiss filled Issac with rage. Lia–how could she?‘
“Issac, Lia is just a gold–digger. She knew you didn’t like her, so she went after someone else. Women like her are not worth it Jenny said, trying to comfort him while putting Lia down.
“Get out.” He snapped.
He knew exactly what kind of woman Lia was. If she wanted to climb the social ladder, she’d had countless chances..
But she never did. She worked diligently, treating everything like it was just a job.
Jenny couldn’t believe he told her to get out all for Lia. She couldn’t accept it. Why? I am his girlfriend!”
Issac, are you saying a servant is better than me, your girlfriend Jenny protested.
“You’re not even fit to carry her shoes,” Issac screamed.
Jenny’s face twisted in humiliation. “Issac, I..
He shot her a cold glare. “Get out. Don’t make me say it again.”
Scared by his expression, Jenny didn’t dare stay another second. She fled the room in disgrace, afraid that if she lingered, she’d end up shattered like the broken pieces on the floor.
The room fell silent, but Issac’s mind was anything but calm. He kept seeing flashes of Lia kissing another man.
For the first time in his life, he felt a deep sense of fear.
He thought about all their past interactions and how she used to mag and meddle in his affairs. It used to irritate him, but now that she no longer cared, his heart felt unbearably empty.
How could Lia possibly like another man? She had always loved him.
She had never explicitly said it, but he could tell.
From childhood to now, she had always been by his side. He had always been so confident that she was hopelessly in love

with him, so he
But now, whertook her seriously.
was happening to him?
He was jealous. Jealous of her freely kissing another man.
He thought she’d come back to him, but she didn’t. She was like a kite whose string had snapped, drifting away, never to
return
Tam Issac Allen. I don’t love anyone, and certainly not Lia. Who does she think she is?
Just a servant!
I don’t give a damn about her!
As he stumbled out of the room, his foot caught on a broken alarm clock by the door.
That woman had filled his room with countless alarm clocks to wake him up.
He’d throw one away, and the’d bring another.
Eventually, he got tired of it and let her keep them in his room.
After she left, all those alarm clocks had been smashed.
He thought breaking them would erase her existence, but it only made her memory more vivid. Every moment they’d spent together lingered in his mind, impossible to forget.
He could recall every stage of her life so clearly.
Could he really bear to see her with someone else?
Issac asked himself, and the answer clawed at his heart like a sharp pain, consuming his thoughts and bringing her back to his mind again and again.
“Ahhh!” He clutched his head in agony and collapsed onto the floor in despair.
No. He couldn’t accept her being with another man–no matter who it was.
Snapping out of his daze, Issac frantically grabbed his phone.
He hadn’t saved her number under her name, subconsciously thinking she didn’t deserve that privilege, yet her number was etched in his memory.
Why was he only realizing this now?
What had he been doing all these years?
Issac suddenly became acutely aware of how poorly he had treated her–worse than anyone else.
He dialed her number without hesitation.
The number you have dialed is not in service. Please check the number and try again.”
He was stunned. She used to answer his calls within three rings. Otherwise, she’d face his fury.
No matter when or where, she always answered.
But now, her number didn’t even exist. This had never happened before. Issac was completely shaken.

Jolted from his sleep by the ringing of his phone, Nate saw the caller ID and quickly answered, “Mr. Allen, what can I do for
you?”
“I need Lia’s address,” said Issac.
Nate sat up abruptly. “Now?”
“We’re leaving in half an hour, Issac replied.
Issac believed that as long as he softened his stance, she would come back to him. She had to.
He vowed to treat her better this time and swore he wouldn’t let her be with anyone else.
“Yes, Mr. Allen.” Nate said, scrambling out of bed, his mind full of confusion. What on earth had happened to his boss?
They arrived at Peace Residential Complex at 11 pm.
“Mr. Allen, according to company records, Ms. Phillips resides in this neighborhood.”
Issac glanced at the surrounding environment with evident disdain.
“Which floor?”
“It should be the third floor”
The man stepped out of the car with his long strides, followed closely by Nate.
It was an old neighborhood without access control, so no one stopped them. There was no elevator, only stairs.
They quickly reached the third floor.
“Which room?” Issac asked.
“Mr. Allen, I’m not entirely sure,” Nate replied.
The company only had her rough address on file, but not the specific floor or unit. He only remembered hearing Lia mention the third floor before.
“Then knock on every door.” Issac ordered.
“Mr. Allen, it’s quite late. We might disturb the residents. Nate cautiously reminded him.
“Do I look like I care?” Issac replied coldly.
“Understood.” Nate nodded.
Reluctantly, Nate raised his hand to knock. Just as he did, a middle–aged woman standing outside a neighboring unit excitedly walked over. “Oh, Mr. Allen, my goodness, it really is Mr. Allen!”
“Who are you?” Issac asked, showing no recognition of the woman before him.
L.. I’m Olive, Lia’s foster mother. Zach’s wife!”
Olive could hardly believe she was seeing the young master of the Allen family here and was beside herself with excitement.
“Olive?” Issac pressed urgently. “Which room does Lia live in?”

“Mr. Allen, are you here to see Lia? She lived in room 4. but she doesn’t stay here anymore.” Olive answered.

Olive hadn’t known where Lia lived. It was only after secretly following her one day that she discovered Lia had rented a place here.
“Then where is she living now? Issac was frustrated.
“I don’t know. Mr. Allen, L’Olive tried to say more, but Issac didn’t waste time listening to her ramblings. He turned and walked away
What is going on? What has Lia done to make Mr. Allen come looking for her himself? The more Olive thought about it, the more uneasy she felt. Has Lia angered Issac again?”
If so, would their family get dragged into it?
Back in the car, Issac gave an emotionless order. “Nate, investigate Lia’s recent activities and her relationship with Coby. I want a report soon
“Understood. Mr. Allen.”
If not at home, where was she staying?
Issac didn’t want to think about it. He refused to believe Lia could do something like this.
In the morning. Lia woke up to a dull ache in her lower abdomen and chest. It was a familiar sensation that came month. She endured the discomfort and got up.
That’s when she noticed the state of the bed.
Thankfully, he wasn’t there. Lia quickly decided to change the sheets before he saw.
As she got off the bed and started removing the sheets, a pair of strong arms wrapped around her from behind.
“Why are you suddenly changing the sheets? Last night, we didn
Lia froze slightly, her face turning red. “No, I’m sorry, I accidentally got something on the bed.”
“What?” He didn’t immediately catch on.
“You know… that. I’ll change it right away.”
Coby finally understood. “You don’t look well. Just leave it.”
“It’s fine.” Lia insisted, shaking her head.

He stepped back a little and noticed the red stain on her dress. Gently, he said, “Go change your dress first. I’ll take care of
the bed.
“My dress?” Realizing what he meant, Lia dropped the sheets in embarrassment.
Tll go change,” she mumbled and dashed to the walk–in closet.
Take your time. Do you need help?” he asked kindly,
“No, no, I’m fine!” she called back, mortified. ‘How could I possibly ask him for help with something like this?
Coby noticed the red stain on the bedsheet and gave a knowing irnile, then made a phone call.

“Dude, it’s Saturday morning! I need my sleep!” Molly immediately started complaining when she answered the call.
“Ahem. Molly, what can I do to help when a woman has her period?”

“Seriously!” Molly was instantly wide awake. “I seriously wonder how you managed to win her over. How can you not know even the basics? Tell me her symptoms.”
These men really have no idea about the struggles women face Molly thought.
“She looks pale and holds her abdomen while walking, Coby said.
That’s menstrual pain. Make sure she drinks warm water, make her some tea, and use a warm towel for abdominal compresses.” Molly railed off a long list of instructions.
When Lia came out after tidying up, she saw him changing the bedsheets.
Coby took her hand and guided her to the sofa, handing her a glass of warm water. “You sit and rest. Drink this. I’ll take care of the sheets.”
“That’s not necessary, Lia wanted to help.
“Be good and sit down. Don’t push yourself when you’re not feeling well Coby insisted.
Forced to sit, Lia watched him skillfully finish changing the sheets in no time.
“I’ve arranged for breakfast to be brought up,” said Coby.
Tm just on my period. I’m not sick. Aren’t you overreacting!” Lia asked.
“You need to rest,” said Coby
“But I need to go out Lia replied.
“For what?” he asked.
She cleared her throat awkwardly. “I forgot to buy tampons. Her voice grew smaller with each word.
‘Til go get them,” said Coby.
Lia was shocked. She jumped up in panic. “No, no need!”
“What’s wrong with buying tampons for my wife?” Coby asked, smiling.
His smile was infectious, and Lia answered, “Nothing, but…”
“If there’s nothing wrong, then just rest and eat. I’ll be back soon! He kissed her forehead gently. “Be good and wait for me at
home.”
“Okay. For some reason, she agreed, only realizing after he left that he was really going to buy her tampons.
Looking at the glass of water in her hand, she felt warm inside.
Half an hour later, Coby returned, not only with the pads but also with painkillers and a warm drink.
“How do you know all this?” asked Lia.
“Molly told me,”
y answered
You asked Molly!” Lia felt very embarrassed.

“She already scolded me. How can I not know these basics if I want to keep a girl happy?” Coby laughed at himself.
Lia smiled softly. “It’s normal for you not to know. After all, he was a man.
“Drink this first Coby handed the warm drink to her.
“Okay.” Lia smiled.
Once everything was done, Coby made her lie down on the bed to rest and climbed in beside her.
His large hand rested on her soft waist, and he noticed her body tense up. In a gentle voice, he said, “Relax, I’ll give you a
massage.”
“Did Molly teach you this too?” Lia asked curiously.
“Nah, this is my own idea,” said Coby with a smile.
His hands were like fire–warm and soothing.
“Anywhere else that hurts?” he asked.
“No,” she said, avoiding his gaze, but Coby saw right through her.
His lips curved into a smirk as he leaned close to her ear. “Does it hurt there?”
Following his gaze, Lia gasped and quickly covered herself. “No”
