After hesitating for a few seconds, she finally answered, “Hello?”

There was silence on the other end, and just as she was about to hang up, a voice came through, one that was familiar.

“Lia” It was Issac. Lia recognized his voice immediately. Why was he calling her? He had never done that before. In the past, he would just wait for her to approach him.

Seeing that she looked clean and well taken care of, Lia said kindly, “I was envious of kids with parents. Maybe your parents don’t dislike you. They might just be too busy taking care of your younger brother because he’s little.”
