Chapter 39
In the General Manager’s office of Allen Group, Issac gripped his pen tightly, his voice cold and deliberate. “They went to Floral Island together?”
Nate answered nervously, “Yes, Mr. Allen.”
In an instant, the fountain pen was flung across the room.
‘Going to Floral Island together? Wonderful!‘ He thought. ‘Lia, when have you ever treated me this way?‘
Recently, Nate had witnessed his boss’s increasingly volatile temper, far worse than when Lia was around. “Mr. Allen, Madam requested you come home tonight.”
“Did she say why?” he asked.
“Not specifically, sir,” said Nate.
“Continue investigating Lia’s background. The sooner, the better said Issac.
“Understood,” said Nate.
‘I will find a way to bring her back. Lia cannot live without me!‘ Issac thought.
Frances had been staying at the Allen family villa for several days without seeing Issac, and her impatience was growing.
Being a maid? That was out of the question for her. Frances glanced disdainfully at the maid uniform she was wearing. What kind of taste was this? No wonder Issac wasn’t interested–it was hideous.
“Frances, why are you so slow? I’ve already finished cleaning this side.” A fellow maid complained.
“What’s the rush? It’s not like anyone’s here,” Frances replied dismissively.
She wasn’t here to clean. She was here to become the lady of the house. Once she secured her position, the first thing she’d do was fire this noisy woman.
“If the butler finds out we’re slacking, we’ll get scolded. If you’re slow, don’t drag me down with you,” the maid said, frustrated to be partnered with someone like her.
“If you don’t like it, you do the cleaning.” Frances tossed the rag aside. She didn’t want to do it anyway.
The maid stormed off angrily. “Fine, I’m going to tell the butler
“Go ahead, I don’t care.” Frances retorted with a huff.
Frances wasn’t afraid of the butler. Since Mrs. Allen had agreed to let her stay, it was clear they were on the same page.
As long as she got Issac into bed and maybe even got pregnant, Mrs. Allen wouldn’t dare treat her as just a maid.
“This is the life I want, Frances thought, captivated by the villa’s opulence. The rich men she had dated in the past were nothing but small fries. The Allen family was the real deal.
Issac was handsome, wealthy, and could provide the lifestyle she dreamed of.
She was determined to win him over.
While she was daydreaming, the front door suddenly opened. Lana walked in, surrounded by maids.

“Frances, Issac will be home tonight. Make sure you’re prepared Luna had come specifically to observe what tricks this woman was planning to pull.
“Yes, Madam,” Frances replied, barely hiding her glee. This was her chance.
But her excitement was too obvious. Luna smirked disdainfully.
At dinner, Luna placed food on her son’s plate. “Issac, I handled the matter you mentioned. However, Zach has found a job and won’t be returning to the Allen family. But his biological daughter is willing to work here as a maid.”
“His biological daughter?” Issac recalled that Lia had a younger sister. They didn’t get along, and the sister often called asking for money.
Luna raised an eyebrow. “I arranged for her to serve you.”
That woman had treated Lia terribly. Issac had overheard their tense phone calls several times. What was she doing here
now?
He pushed his food aside, and Luna’s hand froze midair as she was about to serve more food.
“I don’t want anyone but Lia,” said Issac.
Luna’s expression remained pleasant, though she was displeased inside. “Having someone from the Phillips family close to us could be useful. Surely you understand what I mean, son?”
Luna was increasingly anxious about her son’s obsession with Lia. If she had known how much influence Lia would have, she would never have allowed that troublemaker to stay in their lives.
“Where is she?” Issac avoided direct confrontation with his mother.
Luna’s eyes
lit up.
“In
your room.”
“I’ll go take a look,” said Issac.
Seeing her son looking haggard, Luna quickly said, “Finish your meal first. There’s no rush.”
“No, I have to leave later,” he said.
“Issac, where have you been staying these days?” she asked.
“You don’t want to know,” Issac said with a faint smile.
Luna’s words lingered in his mind. It was time to go find her.
Issac returned to the room and wasn’t surprised to see a woman pretending to clean.
Frances heard footsteps approaching and instantly knew someone was coming. It couldn’t be one of the servants. They would’ve been yelling orders at her.
Nor could it be Luna, She’d already been here earlier, That left only one person, Issac. Luna had mentioned he’d be back. She put on what she thought was her most charming smile and turned around, secretly delighted–it was him.
“Mr. Allen, you’re back!” Frances walked over, her tone dripping with fake sweetness as she tried to catch his attention.

To her dismay, Issac only glanced at her briefly before looking away.
“Are you Lia’s sister?” He asked.
He could tell she was a deceitful woman.
Issac sat on the sofa, crossing his legs casually.

His alluring gaze carried an air of laziness and indifference, making Frances’s heart race. She blushed and said coyly, “Yes, Mr. Allen.”
“What does Lia like?” He lit a cigarette, exhaling a puff of smoke as he asked.
“Uh?” Frances’s smile stiffened, caught off guard by his question.
His sharp eyes swept over her, and his tone turned cold. “I asked, what does Lia like?”
“She likes…” Frances hesitated. How would she know what Lia liked? Although they were technically sisters, they hardly interacted. Lia mostly lived at the Allen family’s estate.
“You don’t know?” Issac sneered.
Biting her lip, Frances decided to go all in. “She likes men–always flirting with rich guys. Don’t be fooled by her innocent appearance.”
Issac raised an eyebrow, amused. “Oh? Then tell me, who has she flirted with?”
“She… she flirted with the man from next door, Because of her, he and his wife even got divorced!” Frances thought Issac was gullible and would believe her outright. Clearly, Lia’s charm wasn’t as formidable as she thought.
Issac stubbed out his cigarette, tossing it into the ashtray. Taking a step forward, he loomed over her. “By your logic, am I a cuck?”
“Uh…” Frances was nervous.
His expression turned as dark as ink, and Frances backed away in fear.
“Lies upon yelled.
lies. Pathetic and disgusting. You’re a vile woman. Go clean the toilets, and don’t let me see you again,” Issac
Frances’s face turned pale as she immediately dropped to her knees. “Mr. Allen, I didn’t lie. I swear…”
This wasn’t how she had envisioned things going!
Issac found her revolting. “Fred, have someone drag her out.”
“Yes, Mr. Allen,” Butler Fred replied nervously, directing the servants.
“Mr. Allen, please! I’m not lying!” Frances’s tears streamed down her face, her pitiful look utterly ineffective on Issac.
“Do you
think I’m blind? I know exactly what kind of woman Lia is, and I know what kind of woman you are. Fred, if she wants to stay as a servant, assign her to clean the toilets.”
“No! I won’t! I’m not working here anymore!” Frances cried.
Screaming and shouting, Frances was dragged away. She had no intention of cleaning toilets–she wanted to be the lady of
the house!
When Luna heard the commotion, she hurried to the room. “Issic, what’s going on?”

“Mom, I hope you’ll stay out of this,” he said calmly.
“You’re really that into Lia?” she asked.

He smiled at his mother. “I have you to thank for that. If you hadn’t brought her into my life, how else would I have fallen for her?”
“I…” Luna’s face went pale.
“Mom, I’ll be the perfect son and take control of the Allen Group for you. But you’ll have to promise me one thing–stop giving Lia a hard time. She’s going to be your daughter–in–law,” said Issac.
He was determined to eliminate all obstacles, even if that included his own mother.
“What? You’re planning to marry her? Issac, weren’t you…” Luna was cut short.
“Mom, that was the past. I refuse to lose to Coby. Lia will be mine in the end.” Issac’s smile turned cold, never reaching his
eyes.
“As long as you secure control of the Allen family’s assets, do as you like.” Luan sighed.
Issac was a changeable person. He might get bored of Lia in the future. For now, the Allen Group was her priority- everything else was secondary.
On Floral Island, Lia lay sprawled on the man’s chest, her body glistening with sweat.
“Tired?” Coby gently stroked her slender back.
“It’s dark now,” she murmured, too lazy to move.
“Do you
still want to go out?”
“I…” Before she could say anything, he tightened his grip on her waist, already taking the lead.
Lia thought to herself, ‘I should’ve known better than to trust him.’
At night, Floral Island glowed under the moonlight, as if covered in a layer of silver.
The hotel they stayed in was built by the water, with floor–to–ceiling windows in every room that offered stunning views.
The waters of Floral Island were crystal clear, untouched by industrial pollution or external interference. The scenery was simply breathtaking.
Even just sitting here, gazing at the view, was an experience in itself.
Lia lay on the recliner. It was too late to go out, and neither of them wanted to walk around, so they decided to enjoy the view from the hotel. After all, they were staying for a few days.
“Have some snacks,” he said, bringing over a tray of fruits and pastries.
“Coby, you should go back,” she said.
“Not until you eat. I’ll feed you,” Coby replied.
Lia pressed her lips together, then obediently ate the pastry he offered her.
“You should have some too.” She picked up a small cake, and he took the opportunity to pull her into an embrace.

Lia couldn’t understand how he had so much energy. He didn’t seem tired at all, while she was already feeling drowsy.

Since there was a meeting scheduled with the local staff, Lia got up early. She planned to check on him, but he was already
- up.
“Lia, help me with my tie,” Coby said.
“Sure.” She instantly recognized the tie–it was one she had picked out.
“My wife has great taste,” he said, holding her close and showering her with praise.
Her heart warmed, and she couldn’t help smiling.
“You’re just good–looking. You’d look great no matter what you wore,” Lia said.
He leaned down slightly. “Do you really think I’m good–looking, Lia?”
Lia replied, “Of course. Back in school, so many girls liked you.”
“You didn’t.” he sighed softly.
Her heart ached a little. It was such a simple statement, yet it carried so much regret.
Lia wrapped her arms around his neck. “You were so dazzling, I didn’t dare to dream about you.”
“You’re the one who dazzled me. I’ve always had thoughts about you–thoughts I couldn’t tell you,” he said.
She stared at him, words slipping out before she could stop herself. “Coby, why did you like me?”
She knew she shouldn’t ask, yet the question came out.
“Do you really want to know?” He smiled teasingly.
For some reason, Lia suddenly felt afraid of the answer and changed the subject. “We’re going to be late.”
Coby gently took her wrist and said softly. “Lia, I’ll tell you tonight.”
Her face warmed, and she instinctively nodded.
