Issac sat at the bar, drinking one glass after another, while Nate stood beside him, anxiously watching.
A woman in provocative clothes walked over with a drink in hand, her bright red nails slowly sliding over Issac’s shoulder.
“Handsome, why are you drinking alone? Do you need some company?” she said.
Nate noticed and wanted to stop her, but Issac had already spoken.
“Are you blind? Didn’t you see the woman sitting next to me?” he said.
The woman didn’t take offense, covering her mouth and laughing softly. “Oh, I didn’t notice. I… didn’t see a woman next to you.”
Her voice was very deliberate, trying to sound sweet.
Issac found the women who threw themselves at him most annoying.
He surprised her by smiling. Just when the woman thought she had a chance, Issac grabbed her wrist with force and to her aside, his grip harsh.
The woman was thrown to the ground.
“I’ve had plenty of women try to seduce me, but you’re the ugliest one,” he said.
The woman’s face turned pale, humiliated and without a chance to fight back.
“Miss, Mr. Allen doesn’t welcome you. Please leave.” Nate spoke up at the right moment, urging her to leave. After all, she had picked the wrong person to approach.
The woman was too humiliated to stay and try to win him over. She got up in embarrassment and hurriedly ran off.
The women around, who had been eyeing Issac, now saw his cold demeanor and dared not approach him.
Issac placed his drink in front of Nate and didn’t seem to care about the earlier incident. “Keep drinking.”
‘Mr. Allen, drinking too much isn’t good for you.” Nate advised.
“She used to nag me about drinking, and now it’s you. Why has she changed?” Issac sneered.
Nate thought to himself, ‘It’s not just Ms. Phillips who’s changed, but yourself too.
At around one in the morning, Issac staggered as he walked into Peace Residential Complex, looking at the simple decor. The place was small–smaller than his own bathroom.
She lived in a place like this and never mentioned it.
If only she would soften up and act cute in front of him, instead of always letting herself be pushed around, maybe things
would be different.
Issac sat on the small couch, pulling out a few photos from his bag.
In the photos, she and Coby were embracing and kissing on Floral Island.
He had seen this scene many times, but he still couldn’t accept it.

The one who should be by Lia’s side was him.
Jealousy crawled over him like a thousand ants. Issac tightly clenched the photos and suddenly crumpled them into a ban.
Is she so happy with him?‘ He smelled her clothes, the scent that was uniquely hers.
‘No, Lia hasn’t changed. She is just waiting for me to change my mind, he thought.
He could accept that she wasn’t pure anymore, but he couldn’t accept her not being by his side. Even less could he accept her being with Coby
He
wanted to erase the traces of that man from her, making her completely his.
The next day, when Lia woke up, the man was already gone. They had played too much the previous night, and she didn’t even notice when he left.
On the bedside table, there was a note he left behind.
[Be good, rest well. It’s a day off. I’ve arranged for someone to bring lunch. When you wake up, call the front desk, and they’ll bring you breakfast.]
Lía felt a bit awkward. She was on a business trip with her boss, and while he was working, she was lying in bed sleeping in just as she was about to get up, she saw the end of the note.

She blushed, remembering last night, and sank back into bed.

She checked the time. It was already ten, and she was starving.
Lía called the front desk, and not long after, someone brought breakfast to her.

Lia smiled inwardly. “Thanks for arranging my day off, Mr. Ford.”
The man teased. “Ms. Phillips worked so hard last night. It’s all my fault.”
“Stop it.” Lia’s face turned bright red.
“Alright, I won’t say anything. But… ” He paused. “Are your legs still sore?”
She twirled a strand of her hair, hesitating to respond. “They’re okay.”
“There’s a massage gun in the nightstand drawer. It’ll help with the pain,” said Coby.
“Okay,” Lía replied.
“Wait for me tonight,” he said.
“Wait, what?” Lia quickly responded, “We won’t be playing games tonight.”

I know. Do you really think I’m that evil? He laughed
Beat he thought to himself, “Yes, I am
“Rest first,” he said
Mr. Ford, you should rest too” said Lia
“Okay” Coby replied
“Bye. After hanging up, the sat there, stunned, holding her flushed face for quite a while,
fer breakfau, Lia lay back on the bed, waching videos and checking her progress over the past few days.
Not having to work, having her own personal space–this was a luxury for her
But now, her mind kept drifting to him.
Lia tried to shake off her thoughts, but they wouldn’t leave.
When something becomes a habit, and the habit becomes natural, it’s no longer something she could control
Meanwhile, in the office, Owen noticed not only the marks on his boss’s Adam’s apple, but also on his neck, and given that Ms. Phillips was on leave, it was obvious what had happened.

“Owen, why are you staring at me? The man raised his eyebrows slightly, giving a quick glance.
Owen quickly thought of something and said, “I just think Mr. Ford’s tie is really nice.”
Lately, Mr. Ford had been wearing that tie a lot. It had to be something special.
Coby toyed with his tie, his lips curling into a slight smile. “Good taste.”
Owen was caught off guard by the compliment. He understood right away. It was clear the tie was a gift from Ms. Phillips. He felt so jealous that he decided to find a girlfriend no matter what
Meanwhile, at Joy Residential Complex, Olive stood with her hands on her hips, her face turning an angry shade of purple. “Your daughter’s fat and ugly. How could she possibly find a good partner? My daughter is beautiful, with a great figure, and men line up from one end of the street to the other just to chase her. You’re just jealous, aren’t you?” she shouted.
This woman dared to speak badly of her daughter in public, and Olive couldn’t take it anymore. She immediately started shouting back.
The short, plump woman didn’t back down either, taunting. Jealous? Your daughter’s out there messing around with men. Who doesn’t know? Like mother, like daughter. I’m not jealous of you at all”
The crowd laughed. Olive knew she was in the wrong but didn’t want to lose face.
I’ve had enough of you! You foul–mouthed old hag. Do you think I’m easy to bully?” Olive rolled up her sleeves and rushed at her, grabbing the woman by the hair, while the other woman immediately slapped her face.
The two women began fighting fiercely.
The crowd rushed forward to break it up, shouting. “We’re all neighbors. Calm down.”

Even as they were pulled apart, the two kept yelling insults at each other.
After the chaos, Olive stormed home, fuming. Seeing her daughter sleeping on the bed only made her angrier.

She ripped the covers off. “Frances, it’s already late in the morning! Why aren’t you up? Do you know what the neighbors are saying about you?”
Frances snapped angrily. “What are they saying now? They say the same thing every day, all because of you. We’re stuck
ing in this dump, even rats leave crying when they come here.”
Living
Olive had already received her share of frustration from Allen family. She was angry enough to be thrown out by Issac. Her dream of marrying a rich man had been shattered by them, and Lia was the root of it all.
“Frances, you need to find a job. People are gossiping about you.” Olive wanted her daughter to make something of herself.
“A job? The money’s barely enough to survive. It’s all your fault.” Frances got out of bed barefoot, grabbed her suitcase, began stuffing it haphazardly with clothes.
“I’m too good–looking for work! Don’t bother me, I’m sick of it,” she said.
Olive panicked and grabbed her hand. “Frances, where are you going?”
The last fiasco was enough for her. She had planned to work at Allen family as a servant, but she’d returned in just a few days.
Frances shook her hand off. “Trying to get money of course! I need to buy bags and clothes, and go travel! Do you have the money?”
Olive was at a loss for words. “I… I don’t have that kind of money.”
“Exactly. If you don’t have it, stop trying to stop me,” said Frances.
“Frances, you need to think this through.” Olive tried to persuade her.
“Don’t stop me. It won’t help,” Frances said.
All the men around had already been sucked dry. She had to find someone else. Her friends were living the high life–eating well, dressed in gold. It made her jealous.
Frances swore she would find a rich man and make everyone who looked down on her shut up.

On the other side, Lia was organizing her clothes when there was a knock at the door.
She opened the door and, unsurprisingly, saw him standing there.
“Mr. Ford, you’re off work early today,” she said.
“I missed you.” He pulled Lia close, his large hand gently massaging her soft waist as he asked softly, “Did you rest well?”
She smiled with her eyes. “Mm, I didn’t get up until four.”
“Good. Should I reward my sweetheart?” He leaned closer.
