Chapter 53
“Molly, so it’s Dr. Walker who wants to date you?” Lia didn’t expect it to be Remy.

Molly nodded awkwardly. “Dr. Walker and I have known each other since we were kids, but I was too young to remember him well.”
That’s why she hadn’t recognized him when he came back into her life.
“Lia, how did you know him?” asked Molly.
Previously, Dr. Walker was my grandmother’s attending physician.” Lia explained.
Olive had often mentioned wanting to matchmake him with Frances, but Dr. Walker had never shown any interest and always found excuses to leave.
“I see. So, what do you think I should do?” asked Molly.
He had given her time to think, but the problem was, she didn’t know how to respond to him.
Molly had always been easygoing, able to get along with anyone and turn them into friends.
But when friends start to cross boundaries, things can quickly get complicated.
Lia understood Molly’s dilemma. On one hand, he was her brother’s friend, but on the other, she had known him since childhood.
“Molly, if you don’t have feelings for him, just tell him honestly what’s on your mind. I’m sure Dr. Walker would understand.” That’s all she could suggest.
“Really? Lia, but won’t he be upset?” Molly didn’t want to hurt him, especially since he had helped her a lot. Out of courtesy and reason, it was hard to break his heart.
“Logically, if the person you like rejects you, they would definitely be hurt,” said Lia.
“Oh god.” Molly hesitated. How should she handle this?
Meanwhile, at a quiet bar, Coby met up with Remy.
“What exactly is your problem? You wanted me to come here just to watch you drink?” Coby occasionally glanced at his phone. If Lia weren’t away, he wouldn’t be wasting time watching his friend drink aimlessly.
Remy looked at his friend’s face and suddenly thought of Molly.
‘Strange. How come I never found him attractive before?‘ Remy thought.
“Bro.” He unconsciously reached out, wanting to touch his friend.
“Dude, what the…” Coby slapped his hand away hard.
Smack!
Remy’s head slammed into the table, making a loud noise.
“Damn, what was that for?” The pain snapped him back to reality. Remy rubbed his temples. ‘Oh sh*t! What was I doing?”
“I’m not interested in you.” Coby’s sharp gaze made Remy’s skin crawl, and he couldn’t help but nudge his arm.

“I’m just in love with a woman. What the hell are you talking about?” He was confident that he was straight.
What was bothering him now was that, from Molly’s reaction, she probably wasn’t interested in him.
“If you like her, just go for it. Sitting here drinking your sorrows away is useless,” said Coby.
Remy perked up. “Are you serious? If I pursue her, you better not regret it.”

“Why would I regret it? I don’t care about your private life.” Coby suddenly thought of something and narrowed his eyes. “Do you have feelings for Lia?”
The man started rolling his wrist, and Remy wasn’t stupid, so he quickly denied it.
No, are you kidding?” He shouted.
‘Actually, it’s your sister I’m into, Remy thought.
Coby glanced at his watch again. “I’ll have your driver pick you up. I have something to do.”
“Oh, Coby.” Remy sighed.
“What else?” asked Coby.
“Can I…” Remy looked at his friend, unable to find the right words. He decided to wait a little while before talking about it. “Never mind.”

Coby returned home and found Lia asleep on the sofa with a book in her hand. He gently picked her up.
Lia felt herself falling into a warm embrace and opened her sleepy eyes.
“You’re back?” said Lia.
He loved seeing her smile and the light in her eyes.
“Mm, why aren’t you in bed? Be careful, you might catch a cold,” he said.
“I didn’t mean to sleep. I just got sleepy while reading. Have you been drinking?” She smelled the faint scent of alcohol on him, pleasant and faint.
“Just a little. Coby gently placed her on the bed. “I’ll go take a shower first,” he said.
As much as he wanted to cuddle with her, he was afraid of getting her dirty.
“Alright.” Lia nodded.
Twenty minutes later, the man came out with only a towel around his waist, wiping his wet hair as he walked. Drops of water slid down his muscular form, following the lines of his muscles and disappearing into the towel.
Lia watched the drops of water on his body and couldn’t help but think of the little cake they had eaten last night, feeling her mouth go dry.
What are you thinking? Lia, how did you become like this?‘ She scolded herself inwardly.
The man walked up to her, leaning over to ask, “Are you going to sleep now?”
From Lia’s view, she could see his perfect abs and chest. She awkwardly looked at his face, avoiding eye contact. “It’s still

carly. Let me help you dry your hair.”
Lia stood up and took the towel from his hand.
Coby sat on the edge of the bed and casually pulled her onto his lap.

His gaze locked with hers, and the stars in his eyes simmered with intense passion.
“Coby, stop moving.” Lia felt a flush rise to her face, and the scent of body wash made her feel even more embarrassed
“I want to hold you.” Coby chuckled softly. “Seeing you always makes me lose control”

lis words left her unable to refuse. Lia gently started wiping his thick black hair, his bangs hanging over his forehead. making him look obedient.
Neither of them spoke, and the surroundings were quiet.
His hot breath occasionally brushed against her, distracting her. Lia shifted slightly, but the next moment, her body stiffened.
“Lia.” His breath deepened, and his voice quivered slightly.
“Coby, I’ll get up first.” Lia nervously tried to rise.
The man grabbed her shoulder and whispered in her ear, “Just stay like this.”
His hand began to wander.
“Coby,” she murmured softly.
“Lia, we haven’t done it this way,” he said.
Lia’s face turned completely red, and under his expectation, rejecting him seemed impossible.
Everything unfolded as he had hoped.
At Peace Residential Complex, Frances stood trembling aside. She was here to get money from Issac, at least enough to squander for herself. But this man had brought her here under the pretense that the matter wasn’t settled.
She didn’t expect this man to be living here instead of a villa. What is wrong with him?”
The man sat on the sofa, his gaze obscure, lazily swirling the wine glass in his hand.
“Mr. Allen, I don’t know why Lia’s husband went there.” Frances didn’t want to explain, but she had no choice.
Smash!
The wine glass hit the floor, the red wine splashing onto her feet, and Frances stepped back in fright.
The man suddenly stood up, his dark eyes flashing with cold fury. “Shut up! Husband? Does he deserve that?”
Frances trembled, lowering her head and quickly saying, “No, he doesn’t deserve it.”
For some reason, she was inexplicably terrified of him.
Issac slowly walked toward her, grabbing her collar in disgust. “I’ll give you one more chance. If you mess it up this time…“.

He threw her onto the sofa. Frances winced in pain, pulling back slightly, but then said boldly, “I… I don’t want the money
anymore.”
She didn’t want to end up getting tortured by this man if she failed to do what he wanted.
She might as well get money from other men.
“Do you even have a choice?” Issac sneered, gripping her neck. ‘Who does this b*tch think she is? Just a cheap sl*t!
“Cough, cough… let go of me.” Frances’s face turned red, desperately trying to push his arm away, but it was useless.
won’t go easy on you. If you want to try, I’ll show you now,” he screamed.
Issac’s expression twisted as his grip tightened. Frances felt herself starting to suffocate, gasping for air with her mouth open, bur the burning sensation in her throat made her feel like she was losing consciousness.
She was scared out of her mind by this man, realizing he was capable of anything.
“I… I’ll do it… cough, cough… let me go… I don’t want to die… cough…”
Issac smirked. “Idiot.”
Weekend came.
Lia and Cora got together and learned that her best friend had accidentally hit someone on Valentine’s Day.
“Is he at your place now?” asked Lia.
“Yeah, the doctor said he has blood clots in his brain and can’t determine when he will recover his memory,” said Cora.
She had caused the accident, and though she had made a mistake, she never thought of shirking responsibility.
“Lia, don’t worry. I’ll take responsibility. I just hope we can find his family soon,” said Cora.
She had reported the accident to the police, but since they didn’t know anything about him, there had been no progress. “But he doesn’t remember who he is, and the police have no leads either, right?” asked Lia.
Lia didn’t want her friend to feel responsible, especially since the man practically caused the accident himself.
“There’s a bracelet, but it’s not a brand. It’s hard to trace, but don’t worry. With technology nowadays, his family will soon find us.” Cora stayed positive. She didn’t have a choice either.
“Send me the bracelet, I’ll ask Coby when I get back,” said Lia.
“No need, you should focus on your own matters first. Finding your real parents is the most important thing. Have you told him yet?” Cora asked with concern.
Lia shook her head. “Not yet, I’ll find a time to tell him.”
These past few days, he’d been going to bed early, working hard, and didn’t have time to deal with those matters.
“The Ford family’s connections are wide. I believe with their help, we’ll definitely find them,” said Cora.
“I hope so, Lia replied.

Chapter 53
Seeing her best friend’s mood affected, Cora grabbed her hand and said, “Let’s go shopping.”
“Why do you suddenly want to go shopping?” Lia asked.
“I want to buy some clothes for that man.” Cora shrugged.
“Cora, are you buying them yourself?” asked Lia because this wasn’t like her.
“I had someone send clothes, but the sizes were wrong. Since we’re at the mall anyway, I might as well check it out.”
Cora felt a bit guilty toward him. She was the driver, so she felt responsible for taking care of him.
Cora, don’t think too much. It wasn’t intentional,” said Lia.
“I’ll try my best to make up for it. When we find his family, I’ll do whatever I can to help,” said Cora.
“Mm.” Lia nodded.
“Let’s not talk about that now. Lia, do you want to buy something for your man? We can go together,” Cora asked.
“Okay.” Lia nodded.
She hadn’t spent time with him today, and the man at home had already voiced his displeasure, so Lia planned to buy something to cheer him up.
“They’re about the same height, but his build is a bit slimmer than Coby’s,” said Cora.
Cora didn’t know his size, so she bought one size smaller than Coby’s.
After picking out clothes and having a meal, it was already evening when they left the mall.
“Cora, I’ll give you a ride.” Lia offered.
“No need, just go. Don’t keep Coby waiting. I don’t want him to get mad at me.” Cora teased with a smile.
“He’s not that dramatic,” Lia said, laughing shyly.
“Lia, my Uber’s here. See you.” Cora waved at her friend.
“Okay, be careful on the road.” Lia waved back.
In the corner, Frances saw her walking alone and quickly stepped forward.
“Lia,” she called out to the woman heading toward the car.
Lia didn’t need to look to know who it was and ignored her.
Frances saw her trying to leave and quickly went over to block her way. “I’m talking to you. Don’t pretend you can’t hear.”
“When did you and Issac get involved?” asked Lia.
Frances was the one who asked Lia to visit Layla. Lia didn’t believe it was just a coincidence.
“What?” Frances froze, her face quickly turning red. “What nonsense are you talking about?”
“Last time, when Grandma wasn’t feeling unwell, why did you call me? And how could Issac show up at that old, shabby place? Frances, do you think I’m stupid?” said Lia.

I don’t understand what you’re saying Frances refused to admit it, figuring that there was nothing anyone could do to her.
“I warn you, I’m only letting this slide because of Grandma. If you keep clinging to your delusions, your life will be beyond saving Lia warned.
Now that you’re rich, you look down on us poor relatives. I know, you just want to see me make a fool of myself, but it’s not going to happen. I will be the one watching your embarrassment!” Frances shouted.
Seeing her smugness, Lia couldn’t help but think of how Issac would make her suffer.
“I think you’re already beyond help. Lia said coldly, not wanting to waste more words on her.
celing guilty?” asked Frances.
She blocked Lia’s path again. “Are you guilty because you took Grandma’s love? I’m Grandma’s biological granddaughter. What right do you have to compete with me? Grandma favors you, but do you think that means you’ll get everything?”
“Grandma has never favored anyone. It’s your actions that have disappointed her,” said Lia
“Ha, of course you would say that. You’re just worthless trash no one wants.” She was deliberately trying to provoke her.
Lía’s anger flared, her nails digging into her palms, her voice as cold as ice. “You’re worse than trash.”
“You…” Frances was furious but seeing the bodyguards already blocking everyone’s view, her anger instantly dissipated.
Lia, this is what you deserve. Let Issac trample all over you! Frances couldn’t help but smile.
Lia noticed the men in black suits slowly approaching, realizing the danger, and quickly ran to the side.
Mmm…
Several men in black quickly grabbed Lia and shoved her into the car that had been prepared by the roadside.
Gavin, who had been waiting in the car, didn’t realize the seriousness of the situation because his view was blocked by the men in black.
After the crowd left, he noticed something was wrong and chased after them, but it was already too late.
Lia was forcibly taken and locked in a room.
Her mouth was taped shut, her eyes were covered with a black cloth, and her hands and feet were bound with ropes.
Lía remembered that when she was running, Frances wasn’t nervous. Was she involved?
Given what she knew about Frances, she didn’t think she would have the guts to do this, unless…
The sound of a door opening interrupted her thoughts.
The footsteps grew louder and stopped in front of her.
