Chapter 39
Yvonne woke up early. As she opened the door, Wesley happened to be pulling his door open as well.
Both of them were slightly taken aback, but neither spoke. They stepped out of the door, one after the other.
This time, Yvonne took the lead. Following the path from the previous day, she soon arrived at the observation point.
After waiting for a while, she saw the distant mountains gently lift a corner of the night’s veil, revealing the sky that was about to be illuminated.
Gradually, the white expanse in the sky began to take on a faint orange–red hue. The surrounding clouds were also painted by the rising sunlight, spreading from one end of the horizon to the other, forming a magnificent sea of colorful clouds.
This sea of clouds surged like waves and fluttered like gossamer, dreamlike and enchanting, as if transporting one into a fairyland.
Sunlight pierced through the clouds, bathing Yvonne in its glow and outlining her figure in gold. She squinted slightly, gazing at the magnificent view before her, her face breaking into a smile of delight and contentment.
A gentle breeze blew, causing her hair to sway with the wind, blending seamlessly with the beautiful sunrise and the sea of clouds, creating a breathtakingly beautiful scene.
Wesley stood behind Yvonne, quietly appreciating the beauty of the moment. His gaze occasionally fell on Yvonne, observing her as she was immersed in the scenery, and an unusual emotion welled up inside him.
When Wesley returned to the inn after finishing the clinic, he saw Jessica cleaning the room next door.
“Jessica, did she check out?” Wesley asked.
Jessica straightened up and replied with a smile, “Yes, she left early this morning.”
Wesley nodded and turned to go inside.
Yvonne continued on her journey. This time, she arrived in a small county town.
The town was about to hold an Autumn Harvest Competition, where the largest and highest–quality agricultural products would be selected. The winner would receive a golden wheat sheaf wreath symbolizing abundance and good fortune.
Yvonne found it quite interesting and decided to stay for a few days until the competition was over.
To her surprise, she received a call from Reid.
His voice was deep, seemingly suppressing immense anger. “Yvonne, where are you?”
Yvonne was slightly taken aback. “How did you get my number?”
Reid didn’t answer directly, but said forcefully, “Either you come back now, or I’ll come and get you. And you can choose a position you like.”
He used the word “position“, which caused a wave of helplessness to rise in Yvonne.
Yvonne sighed, trying to keep her voice calm. “Reid, we don’t have a future.”
“No future? How would you know that? And why do you think so?” Reid asked.
Without any emotion, Yvonne said, “Not to mention anything else. Would your family really allow you to marry a divorced woman?”
“How do you know they wouldn’t? Have you asked them?” There was a hint of accusation in Reid’s tone.

Chapter 39
“I don’t like you,” Yvonne said.
Reid, on the other end of the line, suddenly fell silent, and then Yvonne heard the sound of something shattering in the phone, crisp and grating.
“Come back, and we’ll talk when you’re here,” Reid said.
“I’ll be back in ten days,” Wonne replied.
“No, come back now-” Reid raised his voice.
Yvonne sighed. “Reid, let me have some peace and clear my mind, okay? Don’t push me.”
Reid was quiet for a long moment, and finally, as if in compromise, he said, “Alright, I’ll give you ten days. But don’t you dare block me again.”
After hanging up the phone, Wonne suddenly felt that her love life now was even more chaotic than it had been before her divorce.
She had stayed here for three days, exploring every nook and cranny of the county town.
The Autumn Harvest Competition took place as scheduled. The central square of the county town was bustling with activity, colorful flags flapping noisily in the autumn wind.
