Chapter 47
Yvonne finally stirred awake in the afternoon. Reid handed her some water and cradled her in his arms, his face bright and refreshed. “Are you hungry? What do you feel like eating?”
Wonne frowned slightly, pushing his face away with a finger. She spoke weakly, “Go away”
Reid chuckled softly, leaned in, and kissed her cheek, his voice tinged with a hint of coaxing. “Don’t be upset. I’ll get some food sent over
Wonne felt too lazy to move, just letting out a soft hum.
Reid laughed and carried her to the bathroom to help her freshen up, and then gently brought her back to bed.
Yvonne grumbled about him getting her hair wet earlier.
Reid shook his head with a helpless smile, pinching her cheek affectionately. “Such a princess.”
Yvonne swatted his hand away, sinking back into the soft bed and muttering. “Leave me alone.”
Reid tucked her in. “Sleep a bit more. I’ll wake you when the food arrives.” Then he turned and left, quietly closing the door behind him.
Yvonne lay in bed for a while, her drowsiness slowly fading. She reached for her phone and saw the screenshot of the expenses Wesley had sent.
The amount was precise down to the last decimal point. Yvonne rounded it off and sent him the exact amount.
Wesley took the money quickly this time.
Yvonne casually sent a “Thank you.” But the next second, she saw a surprising notification: [Message sent but not delivered]. Wesley had blocked her.
Yvonne stared at the red exclamation mark, still in disbelief. ‘Seriously, am I that annoying?‘ A wave of irritation washed over her, and without hesitation, she deleted Wesley from her friend list.
On the other side, Wesley felt a pang of regret the moment he blocked her. After a few minutes, he couldn’t hold back and quickly removed Yvonne from the block list. Looking at her payment message, he felt he should say something.
His fingers moved as he typed and deleted many words. This was new territory for him, and every word felt like it needed careful consideration, yet still seemed wrong. After much thought, he simply replied: [Are you feeling better now?]
All he got was a notification: [The user has enabled friend requests. You are not their friend yet. Please send a friend request first.]
Wesley stared at the screen as if the words were in another language, reading them over and over. Then he threw the phone on the table, got up, and went to the window to smoke.
On the day Yvonne and Steven were supposed to get divorced, Yvonne waited outside for what felt like an eternity, but he never showed up. She called Steven, her voice trembling, “Are you backing out?”
Steven’s voice was weak, barely a whisper. “Yvonne, I’m sick. Can we reschedule?”
Yvonne hung up immediately and called Reid. It was time for the “other man” to step in.
Reid stormed in with his bodyguards and found Steven. He was indeed sick, hospitalized for a few days with a stomach bleed.
Furious, Reid said, “Even if you’re on death’s door, you better drag yourself out of that hospital bed and get the divorce done.” Without a second thought, he yanked out the IV needle and had his bodyguards hustle Steven out of there.
Steven was silent the entire way, staring out the car window at the blur of passing scenery. It mirrored the chaos in his mind.

Chapter 47
As the familiar outline of the courthouse came into view, he closed his eyes, overwhelmed by a sense of helplessness that left him nearly breathless. He knew that from this moment on, everything would change forever.
They walked out of the courthouse together. Yvonne felt like a flower breaking through the soil, finally reaching for the sunshine.
Steven, however, felt a heavy weight in his chest as he looked at the papers in his hand. He knew the end of this relationship didn’t mean he could easily let go of the past. Wonne’s newfound freedom had become chains, binding his heart tightly.
