Chapter 10
Marina’s POV.
Nothing could beat this feeling.
Nothing at all.
Out of all the heartless reactions I had gotten, this one stung harder than a bee.
My world had shrunk to the corners of a small, dark room.
ล
The airflow in the room was heavy. It had a little stench of despair and fear, which were mainly from me.
I raised my head to look outside the window, and all I could see was darkness. Pure, undiluted darkness.
A shiver ran down my spine, and I thought I had noticed a cold seepi
into my bones as 1 huddled against the rough stone wall.
The last thing I remembered was the harshness in Alpha Luther’s eyes as he locked me in. He didn’t just stop there; he decided that was not good enough for me, and he took a step further and chained me up.
The metallic noise of chains echoes in the confined space.
I was hanging from the ceiling like I was a prisoner.
Me? Marina?
What did I do to deserve this?
My cheeks were stained with dried tears as I sat there, and my knees pulled into my chest as I sobbed while I replayed the events that had led to my current predicament.
Another shiver ran down my spine, not just from the cold but from the realization that I had become a prisoner in what I believed would be my mate’s territory.
I sat there sobbing while regrets weighed heavily on my heart.
How had her once–exciting life turned overnight into this nightmare?
The man I thought the moon goddess handpicked for me to spend eternity with had turned into a cruel captor.
A whimper escaped my lips as I wished for a different fate, one where I wasn’t bound by the chains of my misfortune.
As I grew tired of crying and thinking, I eventually found myself dozing off to sleep.
In my dreams, everything was a brief respite from my harsh reality, but even there, the consciousness of my mate torturing me haunted my subconscious.
When I awoke, the room was still dim, and the air was unchanged.
I felt aches in my back from the uncomfortable position I had slept in on the hard, cold ground.
I struggled with my feet; my movements were slow and stiff. It took a moment for my eyes to adjust to the darkness, but the realization of me still being held captive was playing in my head.
A harsh shiver ran through my spine as I sneezed.
I realized it there. I might have contracted a cold.
I blamed myself. It was my fault for sleeping on

myself utterly a dry, occasional cough that echoed in my prison.
As I huddled against the wall, wondering how my life had overturned into such darkness, the door squeaked open.
The light rays that pierced through the darkness made me squint.
It was too bright, so I shielded my eyes from the harshness of it.
Bree, my maid, stood at the entrance, a look of concern etched on her face.
“Miss Marina,” Bree whispered, rushing to my side, “I brought you something to eat.”

Chapter 10
Right on time.
My stomach grumbled in response, a painful reminder of the fact that I had not finished my
meal before all this had happened.
“How are you?” Bree handed me a meager meal, and I devoured it hungrily, thanking her for coming to my aid with that hot bowl of rice.
The warmth from the food briefly scared away the feeling of despair that had settled within me.
“Alpha Luther has ordered me to take you to your room,” Bree murmured as she cautiously glanced toward the door.
“He has?”
A spark of hope flickered within me.
Perhaps there was a chance for him to forgive me. I didn’t do it on purpose.
A momentary escape from the oppressive darkness was all I wanted as I asked Bree to help me up.
She managed to stand me on my feet when suddenly the door widened and Alpha Luther’s imposing figure appeared.
“What do you think you’re doing?” He growled, his eyes narrowing at Bree.
Bree hesitated, her eyes darting between her Alpha and the shivering Marina. “I–I thought she could use some fresh air, Alpha Luther. She’s been locked in here for so long.”
The Alpha’s gaze hardened, and a dangerous silence hung in the air. I clutched at the thin blanket around her, Bree was too nice to have given that
to me.
Nothing happened as I witnessed him acutely displaying his power dynamic on both of us. The room felt even smaller, the walls closing in on me.
“Leave,” Alpha Luther commanded, his voice cutting through the air like a knife.
Bree’s shoulders suddenly slumped in defeat, but she nodded and quickly exited the room, casting one last worried glance at me.
Her eyes mirrored pity.
The door slammed shut behind her, leaving me, all alone, once more with my assumed mate.
Alpha Luther approached me with a predatory look in his eyes. “You thought I’d let you roam freely after what you’ve done?”
My chin trembled, and fear was coursing through my veins.
I cast my eyes downward, as I was unable to meet the intensity of Alpha Luther’s gaze.
The reality of being locked in again sunk in, and I felt a renewed feeling of regret for the life I had once dreamed of but seemed so far out of reach.
As Alpha Luther loomed over me, I couldn’t help but wonder if there would ever be a way to break free from the chains that bound me to him.
What if there wasn’t?
That meant I would have to make a way.
But I thought hard about which way was best. Running away or faking my death?
“None!” He roared.
I jumped in surprise, turning my head to look at him.
“I can hear your thoughts so do not think of ever trying that“.
I shuddered in response to what I had just heard.
The Alpha could hear my thoughts.
That was not a good sign.
“I can feel your emotions too.” He smirked at me.
I swallowed hard. What else could he do?
