Chapter 5
Marina’s POV.
I opened my eyes to see a ceiling fan staring right at me.
Its squeaking sound as it turned gently, almost as though it had been turned off a few seconds ago, woke me.
“How are you feeling?“, A man with white gloves on his hand welcomed me back to reality.
“Does anything hurt?“.
“I’m sorry but who are-
“I’m Doctor Nathan. The alpha brought you here to have you treated. You fainted in front of him“. He smirked, he must have been aware of what happened.
Wait. What had happened?
I slapped my mouth quickly before air escaped as I remembered what had happened.
“It’s nothing to be afraid of. The alpha told me you are pure“.
I nodded.
“It’s alright. You’ll get used to it eventually. I am here to check your vitals too“.
He gently flipped my hand over to expose my veins and then readied his injection.
“This won’t hurt.
He stuck the long needle and pressed the liquid into my arm. He extracted blood from my arm and placed it in a cylinder.
“That should be all“. He removed the gloves and then turned to face me. “I’ll tell our Alpha the results I get, he should be here any minute now“.
The door opened as the Alpha and two others walked in with him. He looked as stunning as ever, his hair laid back, that white shirt beaming with handsomeness and his aura itself exuded dominance,
He would make a great father. Thank goodness I was his mate.
Too embarrassed to say anything, I pressed my eyes shut quickly and faked being asleep.
I wasn’t too quick enough, he must have caught sight of me before I fell back in bed.
“Is she fine?“He cast his gaze on the Doctor. “Can she go home now?”.
“I’ve taken her blood sample for the test you asked me to perform, she fainted because of exhaustion, it must be hard bringing her here to our pack“.
“She can go“.
He glanced back at me, “Get up, we’re leaving“.
I played dumb.
“I said get up or you’ll sleep in the dungeon tonight“.
At the mention of that, I sprang from my bed and jumped to his side.
I lowered my eyes to my feet and cleared my throat, “Good evening Alpha“.
“What is that?” I found his eyes staring at my arm. I flipped my hand to see a plaster. The doctor had covered the spot he took blood from, I covered it with my sleeve, “Nothing“.
He stared at it for some seconds before he raised his eyes to the doctor, gave him a nod, and left. The two men behind him waited till I walked out of the door before they followed me.
The walk to the Alpha’s car was a long one.
Quiet and dreadful.
My legs shook as I walked and my heart raced against my chest with every breath I took. I expected him to say something but nothing yet.

Chapter 5
We got to the parking lot and the two men scattered. It was left with me and the Alpha.
He kept walking.
I kept walking too.
My breath was uneasy.
“Marina“.
My time seemed to have come, “Yes, Alpha“. I drew closer in fear.
He stopped when we got to a flashy yellow car. He opened the driver’s seat and sat inside.
“Get in“.
With a shaky hand, I opened the car and carefully sat inside.
I drew in a deep breath and waited for my fate.
“I will allow what happened between us to slide because I’m in the best of moods today, however, if it happens again, be rest assured that you will regret it“.
I gulped for more air. Suddenly, it felt like the air in the car was too tight.
“I am sorry, Alpha“.
To be honest, I was a little confused about what he meant. I was his mate, he called me mate, he gave me a room of my own and was treating me better than other maids. Why did we need to get involved sexually, so fast?
It just didn’t make much sense to me.
I watched him press a button and the car came on.
The drive back to the mansion was a quiet one but at least, the worst was over.
We drove into his garage and parked his car together.
“I will give you today to prepare yourself, tomorrow, I will come for you. Now, get out“.
Hurriedly, I opened his car door and ran out.
I reached the main entrance in no time and ran to my room.
I was almost by the door when someone tripped me and I fell. I rose gently, my tiny bones cracking as I lifted my body.
“Who are you and why are you running in the hallway?“.
A woman with hair the color of the setting sun and eyes that looked like they were taken from the blue sea raised her eyebrows at me.
Judging from her silk gown that flowed freely on the carpeted floor, I could tell she was someone important and then I saw the accessories of Gold on her ear and neck, I concluded she must have been his sister.
Another Tara.
I bowed immediately, “I’m sorry, your grace. I hurried away because the Alpha had asked me to“.
“And who are you?“.
I raised my face to see her eyes still on me and quickly avoided her gaze.
“I am his mate“. I exhaled after I had said that.
The confidence it took to say that, I was sure I could conquer a ten thousand werewolf army with it.
“You’re his what?“.
My lips trembled. I parted my lips to utter words but nothing came out. I felt the hair on my skin stand straight as a cold ran down my spine.
“I am his… I am…”
“Speak fool!” Her voice was loud and vicious.

“Bertha, what are you doing here?“. The alpha came walking up the stairs.
We both turned and bowed as he approached us, “Why are you still here, Marina?“, He asked as he locked eyes with me.
“Luther. I heard her say she was your mate. Is that true, Are you choosing this thing here over me?“. She advanced to where he stood while I retracted.
“You’re what?“.
To think my wolf was excited at getting a mate for nothing.
“I knew she was lying“.
The lady turned to examine me again. “She’s too cheap for a man like you. A leader, an Alpha, a war-
“She’s not my mate and will never be. She’s my plaything“.
My plaything?
I was confused. What did that mean?
