Chapter 63
When Megan entered the room, she was surprised to realize it was empty. She quickly opened the wardrobe, only to find. the clothes were gone as well. She exclaimed, “Mom, that bitch Alyssa seems to have moved out.”
“What did you say?” Brenda was shocked. She hurried into Alyssa’s room, looked around, and then quickly grabbed Megan’s phone to call Sean.
When Brenda called Sean, he was hugging and comforting Hailey.
Hailey had forced herself to go to work today, but when she arrived at the company, her colleagues gave her strange looks. She felt sad and humiliated but pretended to be strong in front of Sean, making his heart ache more for her.
When Sean’s phone rang, he glanced at it and saw that Megan was calling her. He was about to hang up when Hailey said considerately, “Mr. Rivera, I’m fine now. Answer your phone. I just had a temporary breakdown earlier.”
Sean gently stroked Hailey’s hair. “I’ll be quick. Then I’ll take you out for lunch.”
Hailey nodded. “Okay.”
When Sean answered, Brenda’s irritated and anxious voice came through the phone. “Sean, are you planning to move out with Alyssa? Are you not going to care about your sister and me?
“What?” Sean was confused. “Mom, what are you talking about?”
“Alyssa has moved all her things out. Did she go looking for you?” Brenda asked.
Before Sean could answer, Brenda continued, “Sean, how often have I told you that you can’t spoil Alyssa? If she dares to treat your sister and me like this before marriage, who knows what she’ll do after you’re married? Your father passed away years ago and I raised you and Megan painstakingly. How can you let me suffer because of her? I’m old now.”
After listening to Brenda’s complaints, Sean finally spoke, “Mom, wait a minute. What did you say? Alyssa moved out?”
Brenda was taken aback. “You didn’t know? Alyssa didn’t come to you?”
Sean frowned. “No, Alyssa didn’t.”
“Then where did Alyssa go?” Brenda was just as confused.
Sean snorted coldly. “I thought Alyssa was braver than this. After what she did yesterday, she probably hid because she was afraid I’d confront her. Don’t worry. She’ll come back eventually
Brenda was even more bewildered now. She and Megan had planned to celebrate Sean’s birthday yesterday, but Sean had told them he was too busy and suggested they have fun on their own. He even sent them some money, so they went on a short trip and only returned today. They had no idea what happened yesterday.
“What did Alyssa do?” Brenda asked.
Sean glanced at Hailey hesitantly. He didn’t want to cause her further distress. However, Hailey put on a strong act and said, “It’s okay, Mr. Rivera, You can tell your mom.”
Thus, Sean briefly explained what had happened last night to Brenda. Of course, his version was biased in favor of Hailey and made Alyssa out to be a vicious and jealous woman.
As expected, Brenda was furious. “How could Alyssa do such a thing? Poor Hailey.”
Megan also listened in on the conversation. She angrily remark, “Sean, Hailey did all that for you. You should break up with Alyssa and be with Hailey instead”
