Chapter 72
Seeing that Alyssa wasn’t responding, Leanna thought she was reluctant to add her on WhatsApp. Leanna quickly said, “Oh dear, look at me rambling! Honestly, I barely know how to use WhatsApp anyway. If you don’t want to add me, that’s totally fine, Alyssie, I am not trying to invade your privacy.”
Alyssa realized the misunderstanding and hurriedly explained, “No, Mrs. Coleman, it’s not that. It’s just… hearing you call me Alyssic feels really warm. It’s been a long time since anyone called me that.”
“You like being called Alyssie?” Leanna said, lighting up. “I’m glad to hear that. I think Alyssie sounds much nicer. From now on, I will call you Alyssie.”
Alyssa smiled and nodded. “Sure, Mrs. Coleman, you can call me whatever you like. I’ll have Mr. Coleman send me your WhatsApp later.”
“No need. Let’s do it now–just scan the code,” Leanna said enthusiastically. She grabbed her phone, opened her QR code, and held it up to the camera for Alyssa to scan.
The video call was on Celine’s phone, while Alyssa was using Andrew’s phone. So both of their own phones were free. Therefore, they managed to scan and add each other as contacts through the screen.
Once they were connected, Leanna beamed with joy. “Great, we’re friends now. Alyssie, can I check out your social media updates?”
“Of course, no problem,” Alyssa replied.
“Perfect. I’ll stop the video call now,” Leanna said, happily walking off with her phone.
Feeling a bit left out, Celine chimed in, “Alyssie, how about adding me on WhatsApp too?”
Clearing her throat, she replied, “Sure, Celine.”
Celine pouted slightly, seeing Alyssa’s hesitation. “Alyssie, do you not want me to add your WhatsApp?”
Hearing Celine’s pitiful tone, Andrew shot Alyssa a look, silently urging her to go along with it.
Alyssa quickly said, “I didn’t mean that, Celine.”
“Great! I’ll have Leanna send me your WhatsApp later so we can add each other too,” Celine said, now all smiles.
“Alright.” Alyssa nodded.
“Okay then, I’ll leave you two to it. I’m hanging up now,” Celine said cheerfully before ending the call.
As the call ended, Alyssa turned to Andrew and said, “They have hung up.”
“Okay,” Andrew replied casually, still holding her hand as he continued registering her fingerprint. The lock was a bit complicated, requiring several attempts from different angles to set up correctly.
Alyssa placed the phone back on the cabinet by the entrance, watching as Andrew finished helping her with the fingerprint registration.
Once it was done, Andrew suddenly realized he had been holding her hand this entire time. Surprised, he quickly let go as if he’d been shocked, his ears turning a little red. Awkwardly, he said, “It’s set up now. Don’t ring the doorbell next time–I don’t have time to keep opening the door for you.”
“Okay,” Alyssa nodded.
