Chapter 12 A Direct Confrontation

A woman in a white dress, with a slender figure, walked gracefully into the room, followed by her manager, Chloe Dittman, dressed in a black business suit.
Shana hadn’t expected it to be Kate.
In the past three years, she hadn’t seen Kate even once. She wasn’t sure if Kate had been deliberately avoiding her or if that jerk… had protected her so well, afraid she might get upset.
And now, just as they were on the brink of divorce, they bumped into each other.
Kate seemed equally surprised to see Shana there.
But after a moment, it all made sense to her. Clearly, Shana, knowing she could never win Henry’s heart, was trying to use heretatus as Mrs. Floyd to force Kate out of the picture.
She’s following me here? How shameless!
Before Shana could say anything. Kate strutted over in her high heels, looking down at her with condescending glare. She didn’t bother to hide her disdain. “Shana, get out. This is my reserved room. Im expecting a very important guest and don’t have time to deal with you. If you mess this up, you won’t be able to afford the consequences.
Shana paused in the act of handing over her business card, then raised an eyebrow with interest, her tone lazy as she asked. “You’re meeting a journalist, right? What are you planning to discuss! How you. knowingly became the other woman, shamelessly trying to wreck someone else’s marriage?”
Her tone was calm as if she were merely discussing the weather, but her words were dripping with sarcasm.
Kate hadn’t expected such bluntness. She was stunned for a moment, then her face darkened.
“Shana, don’t you know who the real third party is? You’ve been clinging to Henry for three years. Are you stfil delusional enough to think he might ever love you?”
Kate tossed her hair with a triumphant smirk, her eyes gleaming with victory. “Why make things difficult for yourself, Shana? For the sake of your own dignity and your family’s reputation, wouldn’t it be better to part on good terms?”
Just then, Chloe cautiously closed the door to the private room and deliberately brought over–two cups of coffee, placing one in front of each of them.
Kate frowned slightly and shot her a glance, scolding lightly. “I can’t drink coffee right now. You’ve forgotten again.”
“Oh, right. My mind’s been all over the place. I’ll get you some warm water instead, Chloe replied, quickly removing the coffee.
It was obvious what they were implying.
Kate was emphasizing that she was already pregnant with Henry’s child. The message was clear: if Shana kad any sense of dignity, she’d step aside before the pregnancy became more obvious, saving herself from further humiliation when everyone would eventually realize she was the barren one.

For three years, Shana hadn’t had a child, and Henry had made it clear he had no intention of having one with her. Now that Kate was pregnant, the Floyd family would undoubtedly side with her and the baby.
To Kate’s surprise, Shana didn’t get angry, instead, she laughed.
She twirled a pen between her slender, fair fingers, looking Kate up and down before saying calmly, “Whether Henry likes me or not, I’m still his legitimate wife. And you… you’re just a mistress hiding in the shadows. You should count yourself lucky that I’m not making a big deal out of it, yet you have the nerve to flaunt yourself in front of me.
“Do you really think being the other woman is something to be proud of? Aren’t you worried your ancestors might rise from their graves, furious at how you’ve dishonored them?”
Everyone knew Shana was known for being gentle, even timid. Over the past three years, even though she was always by Henry’s side, she barely made her presence known, let alone spoke so sharply.
Kate’s smile froze, her face turning from red to pale in an instant.
She was used to being the center of attention, so she wasn’t accustomed to hearing such harsh words. Glaring at Shana, she spat back with extreme sarcasm, Shana, so you’ve been pretending to be all sweet and magnanimous this whole time. Even filing for divorce was just a tactic to gain the upper hand. Do you really think this will help you cling to Henry?”
She shook her head. “Pathetic. No matter what you do, you’ll never win Henry’s heart. You’re just making him hate you more and more.”
Shana’s smile didn’t waver. “Well, that’s not your concern. No matter where Henry’s heart lies, as long as Im still his wife, you’ll always be stuck in the shadows. And the more you try to provoke me, the more determined I am to stay with Henry, all happy and in love, just to make sure you and your… illegitimate child never get a seat at the table.”
Kate was stunned, her mind buzzing. She exchanged a bewildered look with Chloe.
What on earth is this woman made of?
Kate’s chest heaved with anger, and Chloe quickly tried to calm her down, “Kate, the journalist will be here any minute. Securing this interview is what matters.”
Yes, getting the interview with the magazine would elevate her social status even further, making her a better match for Henry.
As for Shana, she was just all talk–nothing to worry about!
With that thought, Kate sneered. “Call security!”
Chloe left to get security.
But Shana remained completely unfazed, sitting there calmly. She even picked up her cup and took a leisurely sip of coffee.
Seeing this, Kate’s barely controlled anger flared up again. She suddenly smiled, full of arrogance. “Shana. do you even know who I’m meeting? It’s the magazine’s top journalist. She’s been abroad for further training and has been off the radar for three years, but now she’s back to interview me. Every piece she writes becomes a huge sensation.

“You never even belonged in the same league as me, and once I land this interview, we’ll be worlds apart Honestly, someone like you, who has no career and ju leeches off men, wouldn’t understand what success is No wonder Henry can’t stand you”
Shama responded with a smith, “Oh, wow, good for you

No matter what Kate said, it felt like she was punching pillow. Her expression grew darker and darker,
Just then. Chloe returned with security and signaled to die. “Throw her out
The burly security guards started advancing toward Shara. But before they could lay a hand on her. Shana slowly stood up, her dark eyes locking onto Kate, who was already holding up a compact to touch up her makeup
Shama parted her red lips and calmly said, “I forgot to introduce myself. I’m the magazine’s journalist in charge of evaluating this interview.
