Chapter 22 Two Faces of a Person
Chapter 22 Two Faces of a Person
Ryan, overhearing the conversation, frowned and said, “Don’t beg him, Shana. I dared to do it, I’ll face the consequences! If I end up in jail, I’ll come out a better man!”
Shana smacked him on the forehead. Just be quiet!”
Looking stubbom. Ryan grumbled, “Don’t go begging him!”
Shana took a deep breath.
She knew Ryan had never been fond of Henry. It was obvious why. Even though she always put on a brave face around Ryan, he knew that Henry didn’t care for her, married her but made her suffer.
Plus, Ryan had grown up at an elite school with all those rich kids. They either criticized her family for trying to climb the scial ladder through the Floyds or gossiped about Henry’s scandals. That just made him even more upset on her behalf.
Even if others didn’t think she was important, to Ryan, she was the best and most beloved cousin. He couldn’t stand seeing her suffer.
After dropping Ryan off at home and warning him to behave, Shana headed back to Cheryl’s apartment.
She pulled out her phone, opened her blacklist, and saw Henry’s number still there.
Thinking about that night when she’d spoken so harshly and made those tough threats, she felt a pang of regret. See, sometimes it’s better to leave a little room for compromise!
She hesitated for a few seconds but ended up dialing the number.
She thought Henry wouldn’t pick up, but to her surprise, he answered almost immediately, making Shana momentarily stunned.
Then, she heard his cold and impatient voice. “You called just to stay silent?”
Shana was speechless.
That sc*mbag had a way of making her want to shut him up for good!
Shana swallowed and then took on a professional tone, Hi, Mr. Floyd. I’m calling to check when we can finalize the divorce.”
Henry’s voice was as flat and unresponsive as ever. “Just wait.”
It seemed like he was totally used to her requests by now. First, he wanted to see how she’d act, and now he Just told her to wait. It was clear he wasn’t going to make this easy for her.
But this actually worked in her favor. Shana smiled and said, “If we’re not finalizing the divorce Floyd, you have to help me with something!”
yet,
Mr.
Henry seemed surprised by her response and managed a wry smile. “You’ve got some nerve.”
It wasn’t about asking for his help–he had to help her

She continued confidently. If they weren’t getting divorced, she might as well enjoy the perks while she could!
Henry, furious but managing a bitter smile, was used to Shana’s boldness.
He walked over to the floor–to–ceiling windows and looked out at the view. “Go ahead and tell me.”
Shana said. “Ryan beat up the son of the Grants, and now he’s in the hospital. Mrs. Grant insists on pressing charges. So, Mr. Floyd, could you step in and try to mediate? We’re ready to work out any compensation they might need.”
No matter what, starting a fight was never right.
The Floyds and the Grants have always had a good relationship with regular business dealings and close ties among the younger generation. If Henry spoke up, Mira would likely give him some leeway
So, this was a small issue for Henry. But after hearing her, he just stayed silent.
Shana thought for a moment and then said with a bit of flattery, “Mr. Floyd, we’re like family, connected even if things go wrong. If Ryan ends up in jail, it won’t look great for you as he’s your wife’s cousin, right? The paparazzi will find out and make a big fuss, which could hurt your image.
Henry smirked, his lips curling into a sneer. “When you wanted a divorce, I’m just a se mbag. But now when you need help, I’m family? Shana, you do have two faces.”
Two faces? I’m just being flexible. Can’t you understand that
But she needed his help, so Shana chose to ignore his comment. Softening her tone, she asked, “What do you think, Mr. Floyd?”
There was a brief silence before Henry said. “The day after tomorrow is my grandpa’s 70th birthday.”
Shana was taken aback.
She’d been so caught up with the divorce that she completely forgot about his grandpa’s big birthday.
Then it hit her. “So, if I go with you to the birthday party and play along with the show of affection, you’ll help me?”
Henry said, “It depends on how you act.”
Shana agreed right away. His grandpa had always been kind to her, and even without this situation, she would have gone to celebrate his birthday.
“Fine, it’s just pretending to be affectionate. We’ve done it for three years already, one more time won’t hurt. I promise I’ll do my part!”
Duncan’s birthday party was held at the Floyd residence and was lavishly arranged by Sophie Tinsley, Henry’s mother.

She was incredibly sharp and efficient. Even though Shana had been married into the family for three
she had never had to worry about the family’s events. At first, she tried to get closer to her mother- in–law by actively participating and asking for advice, but she was always met with a chilly response,
After that, she stopped trying to get involved.
Henry was supposed to pick her up and go with her, but he got stuck in an important meeting at the last minute. So. Larry took her there
When she got there, the guests hadn’t arrived yet, but the family members were already there. She didn’t have much to say to the Floyds, so she planned to head straight upstairs to see Duncan. As she was walking through the living room, she heard a commanding voice from behind her.
Shana, get me a few glasses of red wine!”
Shana didn’t even need to look to know it was Claire Floyd, Henry’s cousin. She was pretty and had a sweet way of talking, so the Floyds adored her.
But in front of Shana, Claire was always high and mighty, treating her like she didn’t even matter and ordering her around.
Shana had always put up with her, hoping that if she got along with everyone, the Floyds would eventually accept her and maybe Henry would notice her efforts.
But it didn’t make any difference. They looked down on her even more, especially Claire, who always found ways to make her life difficult.
With the divorce coming up. Shana didn’t need to put up with her anymore. She just kept walking forward without turning back.
Claire didn’t expect Shana to actually ignore her. She had brought a few friends today to show them her status in the family.
Her face turned dark instantly. She grabbed a glass of juice from the coffee table and splashed it at Shana. yelling. “I’m talking to you! Are you deaf?”
The juice soaked a large part of Shana’s back. She stopped and turned around.
She smiled and said. “You want wine? Sure.”
She went to the kitchen, grabbed an entire bottle of red wine, and walked back to Claire. Then, she poured. the whole bottle over her head.
“Argh!”
