Shana shifted uneasily. Ihat was with this guy acting up again?
Her movements annoyed Henry even more. He tightened his grip around her waist and shot her a cold, sideways glare.
It was a warning.
After all, her mission today was to play the role of a loving couple. Keeping her professional demeanor, Shana fought the urge to roll her eyes and stood still.

Henry’s brows furrowed deeply, and his usually handsome face turned cold.
Cyrus seemed to notice the tension and said. ‘Henry, Shana, you two chat. I’ll go to the restroom.”

“Thanks” Cyrus said with a nod and walked off.
Standing tall and graceful, he reminded Shana of a line from an old poem “The gentleman is like a rare gem, truly one of a kind.”
Her waist was suddenly pinched, and Shana winced in pain. She looked up to see Henry’s angry face.
“Henry, are you out of your mind?”
She pushed him away and rubbed her waist, where the pinch had been hard enough to leave a bruise.
“Why are you staring at other guys like that? You’re Mrs. Floyd. Don’t forget who you are!”
Shana laughed in annoyance.
He had no shame seducing women out there but was quick to point fingers at her. He indeed saw everything through his own messed–up perspective.
“I don’t care if you’re embarrassed. I certainly don’t feel ashamed!”

Henry’s anger flared up even more when he saw her nonchalant attitude. He snapped, “Shana, Claire says you threw something on her in front of the guests.”
Shana expected Claire to complain and twist the facts. She smirked and asked, “So what? Are you here to

Although she expected him to react like this, his words still cut deeply.

In the dead of winter, the pond water was freezing. She struggled for a long time before finally climbing out. She wasn’t one to be pushed around, and she stormed off to confront Claire, drenched and furious.
Claire denied it, saying Shana had just fallen in by accident and it wasn’t anyone’s fault. Everyone else backed her up, claiming they had been together the whole time.
When Henry came back, she tried to explain what had happened and how upset she was, but he barely listened and inpatiently snapped at her.
Shana, it’s one thing if you use your messed–up tricks on me, but don’t go looking for trouble. If you still want to be Mrs. Floyd, just keep your head down and behave!”
That was when she realized she wasn’t the one Henry truly cared about. What was right or wrong didn’t matter to him. He was protective, but not of her–only of the Floyds.

Even though she was married to him, she still felt like an outsider.

That New Year’s, she got a high fever, and after the New Year’s Eve dinner, Henry left and didn’t come
back.
It wasn’t until she got better that she found out from Larry that Henry had been on a business trip abroad, and Kate was there giving a piano concert at the same time.
She was scared Henry might leave her because of that incident. Afterward, she became extra careful, trying to win over the Floyds and acting sweet and respectful in public, hoping to be the perfect wife,
She thought that if she did this. Henry might come around, but it turned out, that her efforts were for nothing
She forced a smile and said, “As your wife, I could give way to her. But now that we’re about to divorce, why should I give in to her?
“Of course, if she were missing an arm or a leg, out of basic human decency, I might cut her some slack.”
Henry’s face turned dark, and his eyes were filled with turbulent anger. “Fine. You’re so capable. You don’t need me, your ex–husband, to speak up about your cousin’s situation!”
Shana fell silent for a moment.
“Henry, let’s keep things separate!”
“To me, it’s all the same thing.” Henry said.
Shana’s cheeks turned red with anger.
She bit her lip and finally asked, “So what do you want me to do?”
Henry’s expression stayed cold as he calmly adjusted his cuffs and said, “Go apologize to Claire.”
