The sunlight streamed diagonally into the dining room, landing softly on Henry, who sat at the head of the table.
His sharp, deep–set eyes, perfectly chiseled nose, and the smooth, masculine curve of his jawline combined with the golden light haloing around him made him look almost heartbreakingly striking.
Even though they couldn’t stand each other now, Shana had to admit that Henry was every inch her ideal type.
Otherwise, she wouldn’t have fallen so hopelessly for his good looks, completely losing her head and making a fool of herself over him.
Shana was surprised that, despite it being midday, Henry was still there.
Her thoughts were abruptly interrupted by his cold, detached voice.
“You slept like a log,” he scoffed. “You’ve only been out for a few days, and your schedule’s already a mess. Do you think this is appropriate behavior?”
Shana didn’t respond.
Henry was tolerable enough when he wasn’t speaking, but the moment he opened his mouth, he became insufferable.
She walked over, pulled out a chair, and sat down. Flashing a faintly mocking smile, she asked, “Mr. Floyd, is there some urgent matter this morning?”
Henry responded instinctively, “No.”
“Then why can’t I sleep in?” Shana leaned lazily against the back of her chair. “I happen to like this schedule.”
She used to wake up early to fit in with his routine. Now, her priority was her comfort.
Henry’s brows furrowed slightly, his gaze growing colder. It was as if he couldn’t comprehend her defiance -or worse, found it revolting.
Over the past three years, Shana had become an expert at reading his moods. Back then, even the slightest hint of displeasure from him had sent her scrambling to please him, desperate to make him happy.
Now, she could easily discern the disdain in his gaze.
Instead of feeling upset, Shana smiled even brighter. “Mr. Floyd, are you particularly bothered by the way I am now?”
Henry let out a derisive snort, making his answer clear without saying a word.
Shana batted her lashes innocently. “Well, too bad for you!”
At that moment, Judy brought her plate of food and set it in front of her. Henry, visibly restraining his temper, said curtly, “Eat.”

Shana was indeed hungry, but one glance at the usual Western–style dishes on the table drained her appetite.
After days of eating food she loved while away, she couldn’t bring herself to settle for this anymore.
“I’m not hungry. I hope you enjoy it–I’m going out to eat.”
With that, she stood up decisively and started for the door.
Henry’s expression darkened visibly, and he slammed his utensils onto the table. “Shana, is the food at home not good enough for you anymore?”
“Exactly,” she replied casually. “It’s always the same. I’m tired of it. I’d rather eat out.”
Her tone was so matter–of–fact that she didn’t notice the deeper implication in his words.
Henry, however, was livid. She had only been away for a few days, and already her heart was wandering. Home–cooked meals weren’t good enough for her anymore? She was already pining for what was out
there.
“Sit down. Eat,” he ordered through gritted teeth, every word laced with icy finality that left no room for argument.
Shana stopped in her tracks, baffled by his sudden anger.
Honestly, why did he find it so bothersome when she refused to eat his beloved Western food? She figured it was her fault for spoiling him too much in the past, always catering to his preferences.
And besides, the marriage agreement didn’t stipulate that she had to eat every meal with him.
Shana didn’t even bother responding. She acted as if she hadn’t heard Henry, turned around, and walked off without hesitation.
Henry, who had been suppressing his frustration all night, couldn’t hold it in any longer. His patience snapped at her attitude. In one swift motion, he grabbed Shana by the wrist and pinned her against the dining table.
Lowering his head, he forcefully captured her lips in a kiss that was as aggressive as it was commanding.
He’d wanted to do this since last night–and even worse. In his mind, women needed to be disciplined; otherwise, they’d only grow more unruly.
Shana’s whole body trembled with anger. She couldn’t believe that even after she had initiated divorce proceedings, he still dared to impose himself on her like this. She struggled, trying to push him away, but Henry seized her hands and pinned them above her head. He wedged his leg between hers, locking her in a way that felt dangerously intimate.
Shana froze instantly, too stunned and terrified to move.
Henry’s lips were relentless, bruising her soft mouth before prying it open to greedily claim more. He took what he wanted, drowning her in his fiery dominance.
It wasn’t until Judy’s startled cry echoed from the doorway that Henry finally released her.

Shana collapsed to the floor, her strength utterly drained. Henry stood above her, his cold gaze slicing through her like a blade. “Mrs. Floyd,” he said icily, “know your place and stop making me angry.”
Fueled by anger, Shana channeled her emotions into devouring an entire plate of grilled meat. Only then did she feel satisfied. Reflecting on the past three years, she couldn’t believe how much she’d allowed herself to be wronged.
Afterward, she hailed a cab to Cheryl’s apartment to pack her things.
Cheryl was lounging on her bed, legs crossed, watching Shana busily move about. “Shana,” she asked softly, “are you reconciling with Henry this time? I knew it. You love him too much to let that homewrecker win, don’t you?”
Shana was in the middle of closing her suitcase when she nearly slammed it on her hand at Cheryl’s remark.
Steadying herself, she shot Cheryl an annoyed glance. “Cheryl, what gave you that idea? Did I not make it clear? This is just a temporary compromise!”
“If I didn’t agree to his terms, he would’ve dragged this out endlessly. I had no choice but to comply. We’ll revisit the divorce in six months. But hey, at least I get something out of it. With a peaceful divorce, Uncle Brian won’t lose face, and I’ll get a share of the company.”
“You know I’m strapped for cash. With those shares, I won’t have to worry anymore.”
Cheryl’s expression shifted subtly, but when Shana looked her way, she quickly averted her eyes. “That makes sense.”
Despite the agreement, Shana couldn’t help but fume. The thought of enduring six more months of Henry’s presence was almost unbearable.
“Forget him,” Shana said, eager to change the subject. “I have something fun to share.”
She closed her suitcase and joined Cheryl on the bed, a smile spreading across her face. “Last night, I didn’t get a chance to tell you, but yesterday at Gleaming Gems Boutique, I ran into that homewrecker. She tried to pick a fight, and I completely humiliated her. You should’ve seen her face–she was livid! I really should’ve taken some pictures to show you.”
Cheryl, who had always stood firmly on Shana’s side, despised Kate just as much as Shana did. Hearing this, she couldn’t hide her delight.
Her face lit up as she said, “Good for you, Shana! You should’ve asserted yourself ages ago. Let her know who the real Mrs. Floyd is. That’ll put her in her place!”
Shana was taken aback by Cheryl’s enthusiasm.
She hadn’t noticed it before, but now Cheryl seemed even more thrilled than she was.
Before Shana could dwell on it, Cheryl grabbed her hand and eagerly pressed on. “What happened next? After she broke the angel statue, how did you handle it?”
“Oh, that was resolved perfectly, of course,” Shana replied with a smug smile, recounting the events that
