Shana, still foggy from her hangover, struggled to process the early morning call.
Before she could speak, the icy voice on the other end demanded, “As Mrs. Floyd, you’ve been away from
Shana?” home for a whole week without a word. You’re getting bold, aren’t you,

With a sarcastic twist of her lips, she calmly replied, “We’ve been married for three years, and you’ve often been away from home without giving me any explanation. Haven’t you, Mr. Floyd?”
Though mild in tone, her retort was laced with bitterness.

Shana took a sip of water to soothe her dry throat and continued, “Besides, I’ve already asked divorce. I don’t need to account for my whereabouts to you, my soon–to–be ex–husband.”

“Divorce?” Henry scoffed.
“Shana, haven’t you had enough of this? You throw a tantrum every six months, then every three months, and now it’s like clockwork with every period. Aren’t you tired of this?”
“I’m not,” Shana replied, her face impassive. ‘If you’re so tired of it, then just go ahead and divorce me. Once we’re separated, I won’t be able to annoy you anymore!”
For three years, she had lived in fear of making a mistake, terrified that Henry would leave her. She never imagined she would one day be able to ask for a divorce so calmly.
“Shana, are you doing this on purpose?”
Henry’s voice seethed with barely contained anger. “You’re deliberately causing a scene just when Grandpa is about to return!”
Shana’s mind raced. Duncan had retired and moved to Goldshore last year, content with his new life.
There had been no mention of his return during their last phone call.
It dawned on her that Henry’s concern wasn’t for her well–being, but for his grandfather’s perception.
For Henry, Shana’s silence meant she would agree.
His voice turned cold, “Shana, how much do you want this time? Or has your dear uricle found another project he’s interested in?”

Upon hearing the disconnected tone, Henry’s face hardened. He tried calling Shana again, only to be met with an automated messige. “The number you have dialed is not in service.”
Judy, who had been observing the scene, was taken aback. Did the usually docile Mrs. Floyd really dare to block Mr. Floyd
A shiver ran down her spine as she met Henry’s icy gaze
Acting on pure instinct, she quickly covered her ears.
Mr. Floyd, I didn’t hear anything, she stammered, bowing slightly before turning back to her duties.
However, from the corner of her eye, she noticed Henry pause for a moment, pull something from his pocket, and angrily fling it into the trash can.
The loud clatter startled her.
Once Henry had disappeared upstairs, Judy cautiously retrieved the discarded item. It was an exquisite jewelry box, containing an antique diamond necklace.
Isn’t this the very necklace Mrs. Floyd has been longing for, the one he has stubbornly refused to give her?
Shana threw her phone aside and tried to go back to sleep, but a moment later, she sat up abruptly and exclaimed in frustration. “Is he out of his mind?”
Calling her first thing in the morning just to provoke her!
On the other side of the bed, Cheryl had been roused by the commotion. Still groggy, she stared at Shana’s newfound confidence, clearly surprised by this uncharacteristic display.
