It turned out to be the latest issue of a magazine, with Kate’s exclusive interview gracing the cover. As soon as it was released, her popularity skyrocketed, and she soon dominated the trending charts.
Her fans were all over the place promoting her, sparking conversations among bystanders. A quick scroll through the homepage revealed nothing but her interview.
Shana had been so caught up in cleaning up Ryan’s mess that she had completely forgotten about this.
Luckily, Alex had warned her in advance. By now, she had processed her emotions and no longer felt rattled by them.
But then she saw oneof the interview clips–a video cut.
The reporter asked, “Ms. Carroll, you have already achieved great feats in your career. Could we ask about your love life?”
Kate smiled coyly. “I knew you wouldn’t let me off easily, but there’s nothing I can’t say. I’m not single.”
The reporter gasped, “Ms. Carroll, such a generous share! Does this mean something good is on the horizon?”
Kate didn’t hesitate, answering with confidence, “Yes, we’re already discussing the wedding date. It’ll probably be early next year, around spring, when the flowers bloom.”
And now, spring is half a year away.
Shana’s grip tightened on her phone. Henry’s image flashed through her mind. In the bathroom, he pinned her down, biting and tearing at her. The disgusting feeling surged again, uncontrollable.
During her shower, she had scrubbed the bite marks on her neck until she had removed every trace of him. But now, unconsciously, her hands continued to rub hard against her skin.
Her tender skin reddened and stung with the force of it, but she pretended not to notice. She finally forced herself to calm her churned–up emotions after a while.
Shana dimmed the lights in her room and began to prepare for sleep. Just then, her phone chimed.
She glanced at the screen.
Kate had sent a message on WhatsApp. She asked, “Shana, did you see the news? You’said I’d never get an interview, but here I am.”
Then, another message arrived–one with a sting. She declared, “Whatever I want, Henry will make sure I get it.”
Shana wasn’t surprised. Of course, Kate would gloat in front of her. Every mistress, desperate to rise, spends her days figuring out how to rub it in the face of the original partner, trying to make them so uncomfortable that they leave, freeing up the path for their ‘true love.‘

Tonight, she was truly unlucky. After being disgusted by that sc*mbag, now she had to deal with this homewrecker.
For the sake of her own sanity, she wouldn’t let this slide.
Shana picked up the phone and called back.
When the line connected, she gave a cold smile and spoke directly, “Homewrecker, you want to be Mrs. Floyd so badly–why is it that Henry still hasn’t made that happen for you?”
“You b*tch!” Kate choked, but quickly fired back, “He’ll do that soon.”
“Soon? How soon? Six months from now?” Shana leaned back against her bed, scoffing coldly. “There are plenty of high–society women eyeing him. Even without me, it may not be your turn.
“Why don’t you wait until you actually become his wife before you gloat? Oh, of course, even if you do eventually get your wish
“1
She deliberately paused, her lips curling into a teasing smile as she spoke each word clearly: “It’s something I don’t want anyway.”
Kate’s breathing became heavy, and even through the phone, Shana could hear her frustration.
Shana’s tension eased instantly.
She hung up and set the phone down. Now, she didn’t need to force herself to sleep–she lay down and was out almost immediately.
The Floyd Group, CEO’s office.
Damon walked in. He was surprised to find Henry not sitting at his desk reviewing documents but lounging on the sofa, smoking.
His shirt was the same one from yesterday–wrinkled and untidy. His tie was discarded carelessly to the side, and a few buttons were undone, his stubble growing out slightly, giving him a wild, disheveled appearance.
He glanced at the ashtray, which was overflowing with cigarette butts.
Had he been sulking here all night, drowning in self–pity?
Damon thought it was a rare sight. His eyes lit up. He immediately pulled out his phone and began snapping pictures of Henry, eager not to miss such a classic moment.
Henry raised a hand to shield himself, frowning. “What are you doing?”
Damon chuckled as he continued to take photos, using his best ‘girlfriend photographer‘ technique, shifting angles to get the perfect shot. “It’s rare to see Mr. Henry tasting the bitterness of love. Of course, I have to capture the moment!”
Henry lifted an eyebrow, his voice cold. “Either you delete those photos, or I’ll delete you from this world.”

Damon shuddered, his hands trembling. “I’ll delete them! Right now! I promise–completely gone!”
He quickly deleted the pictures and showed Henry the empty screen. “See? Not a single one left!”
Henry snatched the phone and opened the recently deleted folder, revealing the pictures, untouched and undisturbed.
Damon stared in disbelief. “When did you get so tech–savvy?”
He couldn’t believe his trick didn’t work. D*mmit!
Henry swiftly deleted the photos and tossed the phone back at Damon before heading toward his personal lounge.
After a couple of steps, he turned back, fixing Damon with a stare. “And one more thing, Shana and I–it’s not love! Keep talking nonsense, and you’ll regret it.”
Damon remained silent. Apparently, Damon was still stubbornly refusing to acknowledge that.
In the bathroom, Henry applied shaving foam and began to trim his beard.
Damon followed him inside, arms crossed, leaning against the doorframe, continuing his gossiping. I knew something was off between you two yesterday. What happened after you went out? Come on, tell me. As a friend, I’m here to help.”
“Did you
send her home last night?” Henry wiped the foam from his face, choosing to ask a question rather than respond.
“Oh, Shana wouldn’t let me take her. But don’t worry. Cyrus said he’d drop her off safely,” Damon replied
Henry paused abruptly, his tone turning more serious. “Cyrus dropped her off?”
Damon didn’t get it. “Yeah, so what?”
Was there any difference between him and Cyrus sending her home?
Besides, didn’t everyone agree that Cyrus was reliable?
Before Damon could finish his sentence, Henry whipped the towel at his face with all his might, unable to control his anger. “Get out!”
Damon, bewildered and offended, dared not speak. As he saw Henry’s furious face, he quickly backed off and made his exit.
In his haste, he accidentally bumped into someone at the door.
Cheryl rubbed her forehead and scolded, “J*rk! Can’t you see where you’re going? Is there a ghost chasing you?”
Damon clutched his racing heart. He said, “It’s worse than being chased by a ghost!”
Cheryl fell silent, then glanced at the door behind him, realizing what had happened. “What did you do this time to make Henry mad?”

Damon couldn’t help but vent. He grabbed Cheryl and started pouring out his frustrations. “You know, I’m his buddy, just like Cyrus, Shana can’t stand me, but she gets along with Cyrus. She wouldn’t let me ke her home, so Cyrus did it. Is that really enough to get him upset?
“I lost a project worth over 100 million before, and Henry didn’t even blink. So what’s going on today?
Cheryl was equally confused.
She hadn’t figured it out yet, but her curiosity got the better of her. “Well, since you ran into me, shouldn’t you at least buy me lunch to make up for it?”
“Lunch? Sure! Anything for you, sis!”
Damon put on his usual cheeky smile and exaggeratedly gestured for her to go ahead.
The next afternoon, Shana finished her lunch and checked Twitter. Kate’s news was still up there, likely boosted by bots, and it wasn’t going away anytime soon.
She didn’t want to risk irritating her eyes and decided not to look any further.
Neither the sc*mbag nor the homewrecker deserved her attention. Her focus now was on making money.
The magazine didn’t require her to be in the office every day–just as long as she brought back valuable stories. The rural assignment was over, and Alex hadn’t yet assigned a new task, but she could still proactively suggest ideas.
As she was gathering some materials, Cheryl messaged her on WhatsApp.
“Bae, go check Twitter!”
Shana assumed Cheryl was talking about Kate and replied, “I saw it last night.”
However, Cheryl promptly placed a voice call.
Shana was surprised and quickly answered, “What’s
up
“It’s not Kate’s interview I’m talking about,” Cheryl said. “It’s your interview–it’s on the news!”
