When Shana saw the caller ID, she hesitated, her hand gripping the phone tightly before she pressed the answer button..
“Hello, Uncle Brian”
“Shana, do you have time tonight? How about we have dinner together?”
Brian Brown’s voice was as gentle as always.
“Your aunt recently went on a trip and got you a
charm for fertility. She swears by it and insists I pass it along to you. She also included some supplements that are supposed to help with conception.”
She was about to divorce Henry, what use did she have for a fertility charm or those supplements? Over the years, she’d drunk so many of those concoctions that just thinking about them made her mouth feel bitter. The very thought made her want to gag.
Praying to the gods was no match for Henry’s strict precautions.
Shama didn’t want to see Brian before she had the divorce papers in hand; she knew he wouldn’t agree to the divorce, and she wasn’t confident she could stay firm in front of him.
It would be best to finalize the divorce first and inform him afterward.
She was trying to think of an excuse to turn down the invitation when Brian added, “Don’t worry, Shana, I won’t let your aunt come this time. I know how her words can upset you. It’ll just be the two of us catching. up; we haven’t seen each other in a while.”
With him putting it that way, Shana couldn’t refuse, so she reluctantly agreed, “Alright.”
She was always mindful of Brian’s kindness in raising her, and she held him in the same regard as her own father.
Snapping out of her thoughts, Shana tried calling Henry again, but his phone was off
She set her phone down and spent the next half hour angrily cursing him until her throat was dry.
At 8 PM, Shana arrived at the restaurant’s private room.
To avoid raising Brian’s suspicions, she had spent the afternoon at the spa, getting a facial, makeup, and hair done, dressing up for the occasion.
As always, she wanted to appear well and not make him worry.
But when she opened the door and walked in, she saw not only Brian but also Henry, sitting at the head of the table, looking smug and arrogant.
Her dear uncle was clearly trying to ingratiate himself with Henry, smiling so obsequiously.
Henry’s cold stare swept over Shana, filled with undisguised mockery.
He seemed to be thinking, She wants a divorce, yet she get her uncle to arrange a reconciliation dinner and dresses

Ignoring him. Shana turned to Brian.

She forced a smile and said word by word. “Uncle Brian, didn’t you say it would just be the two of us catching up? Why is he here?”
Brian responded casually, “Henry is your husband, not an outsider. Why act so distant? He had some rare free time today, so I invited him to join us?
Shana was taken aback.
She had begged Henry countless times to accompany her back to her family home, but he had always refused. Now, when we are divorcing, he suddenly has time, huh?
Brian gestured to the seat beside Henry. “Come, sit down.”
Shana stitily walked to Brian’s side and sat down..
Henry glanced at her coolly, saying nothing.
Brian awkwardly smiled, unable to keep up the facade. The reason he organized this dinner was because he’d heard rumors about their impending divorce.
The gossip spread from the high–level executives in the conference room.
At first, he didn’t believe it, but seeing them now, he couldn’t deny it. He gave Shana several meaningful looks, hoping she’d soften her stance, but she just looked down at her freshly manicured nails, saying nothing.
He cleared his throat and smiled apologetically. “Henry, Shana has been spoiled by me since she was young, so she can be a bit headstrong. Her talk of divorce is just a way to get your attention. Don’t be angry. Let me apologize on her behalf.”
He raised his glass, ready to down it in one gulp.
Suddenly, the glass was snatched from his hand. He looked up to see Shana’s face, flushed with humiliation.
It is Henry who has been unfaithful, so why should I be the one to apologize?
She held back her anger for a few seconds, then slammed the glass down and said, “Uncle Brian, I’m not feeling well. I’m leaving
“Wait, Shana.
Ignoring Brian’s calls, Shana walked out of the room without looking back, her high heels clicking on the floor.
She didn’t even glance at Henry.
But just a few steps down the hallway, her wrist was grabbed, and she was forcefully shoved against the
wall.

But all Shana wanted to do was punch him. This jerk rates how much I care about my uncle, so he deliberately told him about the divorce just to make me feel worse, didn’t he?
Before she could react, Henry’s cold voice came from above her, “Your uncle just mentioned to me that he wants to invest in the new project at the group.
It was Floyd Group’s S–Tier project that aimed at establishing a fully Al–driven business district.
It promised immense future profits and Brian wanted a share.
Hearing this. Shana felt a sense of foreboding.
As she expected, Henry’s voice grew icier, dripping with sarcasm, “So this is why you’re so insistent on a divorce, huh?
“No wonder you’ve been sending divorce papers, moving out, and partying at nightclubs. You’re not giving up until you get what you want, are you?
“Shana, you and your dear uncle have such insatiable appetites. Do you think I can give endlessly without you both choking on it?”
Shana’s face turned pale.
Seeing this, Henry thought she was finally realizing her mistake. His anger eased a little, and he gently stroked her delicate face, kissing her lips softly as he murmured, “Stop this nonsense. Come back with me. alright?”
