Chapter 9 Harsh Words
After hanging up the phone, Shana collapsed onto the bed.
This tactic of hers was exhausting. If Henry didn’t give in soon, she wasn’t sure she could keep it up.
However, persistence was one of her strengths.
Once she set her mind on something she wouldn’t stop until she achieved it. It was the same when she chased after him, and now, when she wanted a divorce it was no different.
The Floyd Group, conference room.
Shana arrived on time, but Henry was nowhere to be seen. Instead, she was greeted by Mr. Walker, Henry personal attorney, who was known for being at the top of the country with an undefeated record.
“Mrs. Floyd, it’s been a while, Mr. Walker stood up and greeted her.
He adjusted his glasses on the bridge of his nose, his sille warm and gentlemanly. But Shana knew very well that he was far from a gentleman–he was a ruthless shark who had helped Henry with countless dirty. deeds over the years.
She responded with a perfunctory smile and sat down.
“Where’s Henry? Isn’t he here yet?”
Although Henry was a jerk, he was extremely punctual and wouldn’t tolerate lateness, either for himself nor others.
Mr. Walker sat across from her and replied, “Mr. Floyd has entrusted me with full authority to handle all matters related to the divorce. You can discuss everything directly with me.”
Shana’s expression turned mocking. Henry was clearly pulling out all the stops to prevent her from getting her share of his assets.
“Fine, let’s talk. But I need to contact my lawyer first.”
She wasn’t foolish enough to think she could take on a lawyer by herself.
Mr. Walker gestured politely for her to proceed.
Shana had engaged Mr. Pearson, an expert in divorce proceedings, but after less than ten exchanges with Mr. Walker, he was thoroughly outmaneuvered.
Following Mr. Walker’s polite departure, Mr. Pearson provided her with a candid explanation.
“Ms. Robertson, Mr. Floyd has refuted both of your reasons for seeking a divorce. Firstly, he denies any infidelity, and secondly, he asserts that your marital life is perfectly harmonious. Consequently, he refuses
to consent to a divorce.
What? His mistress, Kate is pregnant, yet he has the audacity to deny any infidelity!

Is he going to wait until the child is born and both mother and child are residing in our home before admitting it?
Shana was consumed by rage.
She emitted a bitter laugh. “In that case, there’s nothing more to discuss. Proceed with the divorce filing
However, Mr. Pearson’s subsequent words almost caused her to erupt in fury. “Mr. Floyd also conveyed. that your unfounded accusations and lack of evidence cannot be used as grounds for divorce. Even if you take this to court, they won’t grant a divorce.
“If you persist in pursuing a divorce, he might agree to it, but only under the condition that you leave with nothing and publicly acknowledge that the divorce is your fault, thus safeguarding Mr. Floyd’s reputation and ensuring it doesn’t impact his prospects of remarrying
Shana clenched her fists, her anger reaching a boiling point, wanting nothing more than to strike Henry in
the face.
Mr. Pearson continued to analyze the situation and advised, “Ms. Robertson, without concrete evidence of infidelity, it’s impossible to prevail in court.
I recommend that you attempt to negotiate with Mr. Floyd once more…
Before he could conclude, Shana abruptly rose to her feet. She yanked open the conference room door and stormed out.
“Ms. Robertson, where are you heading?”
To confront that scoundrel!”
When Shana burst into the CEO’s office, Henry was in the middle of a video conference, seated behind his imposing desk.
With a cold, arrogant expression, she marched over and forcefully closed his laptop, abruptly ending the meeting.
Henry looked up, his eyes locking onto hers, cold and sharp. “Shana, are you aware of what you’re doing?”
Shana’s voice was even icier than his, “Henry, you don’t even have feelings for me. Why prolong this divorce?”
Henry’s dark eyes remained fixed on her, and then he laughed unexpectedly.
He leaned back in his chair, crossing his long legs in a leisurely manner. “Lfind it quite amusing.”
Shana understood. He wasn’t opposed to the divorce; he simply didn’t want to give her what she wanted easily. He intended to use this situation to humiliate and torment her, to demonstrate that this marriage wasn’t something she could initiate and terminate on a whim.
Shana’s fingers trembled. “Henry, do you believe that just because you have some money, you’re untouchable?”
Her words seemned to strike a nerve.
Henry’s anger ignited instantly.
His lips twisted into a sneer, and his words were harsh. Some money? Isn’t that precisely what you’re

after? You’ve been living off me, consuming my food, wearing my clothes, surviving on my money Without it, you and your precious uncle’s family would likely be wallowing in some filthy gutter by now! And now that you desire a divorce, aren’t you still eyeing my money?
“Shana, I’ve been more than patient with you. Take what you can get and stop pushing, or you’ll end up with nothing“”
Shana’s face paled, and she bit her lip so hard it almost bled.
She had always known he held her in low regard, but she hadn’t realized the extent of his disdain. To him, she was nothing but a parasite, clinging to him and draining him–a leech he found repulsive.
All her efforts to connect with him, all the sacrifices shell made in the name of love, were nothing but pathetic spectacle in his eyes, it was the desperate acts of a greedy opportunist. He saw her love as a sham a performance for personal gain
Observing her silence, Henry reopened his laptop. His tone softened slightly but remained authoritative. “Go home and reflect on your behavior. From now on. Ill
