Chapter Ten
My dismembered body parts seemed to float with a certain spirituality, not drifting far before being discovered by the nearby residents.
Was this the luckiest moment of my life?
No, this should be the first lucky thing that’s happened to me since my soul left my body.
After the report was made, the police took this case very seriously, working tirelessly through the night to identify me and locate the scattered pieces of my body.
They even managed to apprehend the gaunt man who hadn’t yet made an escape plan.
He hadn’t expected to be caught so quickly,

especially while he sat in a restaurant, enjoying his breakfast.
At the break of dawn, the man confessed everything.
That night, the man who killed me stepped out to answer a phone call, and it was Sarah.
The call log still existed on his phone.
Sarah had instructed him to “take good care” of me and had given him a large sum of cash.
She mentioned that if I happened to die, he should buy a ticket and flee, living a life in hiding.
The amount of cash was staggering–far beyond what Sarah and our family could afford.

Further investigation revealed that Sarah had embezzled company funds and received substantial bribes.
My mother, upon seeing the fragments of me that had been scattered, gasped for air and fainted.
My father remained by her bedside, his mind seemingly still reeling, tears slowly spilling from his eyes.
My brother appeared calm.
But on the day of the trial, he pulled a sharp fork from his bag and plunged it into the gaunt man, leaving him as a mere funnel.
When the police apprehended him, his eyes were bloodshot as he glared coldly at

Sarah, who trembled in the corner.
But is delayed love truly love?
As I gazed upon the absurdity unfolding before me, I felt no flicker of interest in my heart.
My heart, now frozen, could not be warmed again, no matter the method employed.
I felt as though I were watching a farcical play, a cacophonous movie that had nothing to do with me.
When my mother awoke to learn that the murderer had been stabbed to death, Sarah had been sentenced, and even my brother Allen had been imprisoned as well, she seemed to go mad. She grabbed everything around her and throwing it at my father.

“It’s all your fault! It’s all your fault! Why didn’t you care more about Kelly? She is our biological daughter! Why didn’t you pay her any attention? She must have suffered so much–when she was violated, when she was cut into piece by piece…”
It was as if she couldn’t fathom my ordeal; she clutched her head in despair, curling up in the corner of the bed.
My father stood frozen, like a puppet.
“Yes, why didn’t we care more about Kelly? After all, Kelly is our biological daughter. That… that ungrateful wretch, Sarah, even wants to deprive our Kelly of her property! That ungrateful girl!”
With that, he lost all restraint, going into a frenzy, smashing every hospital instrument in the room.

I even laughed aloud.
I was dead, yet they had begun to wallow in self–pity.
My father, consumed by guilt, disregarded everything, even willing to pay for expensive medical equipment just to vent his emotions.
Had I truly grown up in such a ridiculous family?
Just like my dear brother, during the trial, he had a chance to stab Sarah to death as well.
But he hesitated.
He merely glared at her with a burning hatred, as if he were the most devoted brother.

In that moment, it seemed he was my brother, one would be ready to sacrifice everything for me.
Before the wedding, Matt and Sarah had already obtained their marriage certificate.
Now, however, he visited Sarah in prison, seeking an amicable divorce.
Sarah looked at Matt, who was putting on a false show of being a decent human, and smirked.
“Don’t dream on it. I won’t agree to a divorce, even if it kills me. There’s a cooling–off period for divorces–how can you escape me?”
She laughed ominously, her eyes glinting with mockery.

Matt could only curse her as a lunatic.
Lunatic…
I let out a soft sigh.
If there is a next life, please don’t let me be born into a family like this again.

After five long years, Hellen reappeared.
The next day, Mathew came through the door, his face cold, distant. Without a word, he tossed the divorce papers onto the table as if they were worthless.

“It’s time for you to step aside,” his voice. cutting like ice.
It didn’t matter anymore. My heart was already fading, and I knew… my time was running out.
After I died, my ex–husband fell to his knees at my grave. He sobbed like a broken man, like a wounded animal.
Tears streamed down his face, soaking the earth, his voice cracking between gasps.
“I’m sorry! I’m so sorry!”
He wept like a dog, abandoned by everything, but it was too late.
