Chapter 20
Dorothy’s gaze inadvertently fell upon the phone screen.
It was Sonia.
Instead of walking aside, Dwayne answered in front of her and said, “What’s up?”
He was so gentle toward Sonia, making Dorothy almost feel like he was a completely different person.
“Dwayne, Brenden isn’t feeling well. He’s been asking about you. What should I do? Could you
“OK. I’ll be right there,”
Dwayne hung up.

Come over?”
Dorothy bit her lip. Seeing that he was about to leave, she blurted out anxiously, “About the favor…”
“Later.”
He left after saying this.
The room fell silent.
Dorothy’s heart ached.
No matter how important the favor was to her, he left without hesitation over one phone call from Sonia.

She thought, “He will say yes, right? After all, he adores Brenden.”
Confirming Brenden was soundly asleep, Dwayne slowly pulled out his hand and looked at her. “I’ll hire a nanny to look after
him.”
Sonia’s expression changed slightly. “Dwayne, that’s not what I meant…”
He rose up unhurriedly and said flatly, “You’re a single woman, and it wouldn’t be appropriate if I show up here often. Brenden’s fever has broken. Get some rest.”
With that, he left.
Clutching the soup bowl, Sonia glared at Brenden. “Could you be more useless?”

She then stormed out.
But in fact. Breiden wasn’t asleep. He slowly opened his eyes and curled up into a ball under the blanket, his eye brimming

“But why is Mommy still upset?”
