Peter turned to her, grinning.“Riley, where are you going?”
Riley thought for a moment.“Angel Road.”

are you doing there?” Riley explained, “My father’s in a nursing home there. I want to visit him.” She hadn’t been able to visit him since her argument with her mother.
Peter was taken aback.“Angel Nursing Home?”
Riley nodded.
Peter commented, “That nursing home isn’t good. Why would your family put your
dad there?”
Riley remained silent. Liam’s gaze lingered on her face for a few seconds before he snapped, “Drive, and shut up.”
A phone rang. Liam checked the caller ID and answered.
“What?” he said curtly.“I told you, don’t worry

Peter glanced at Liam through the rearview mirror.“Your mom?”
“Yeah.”
“Why’d she call?”
“Just drive.”
Peter chuckled.“I know. She’s setting you up on a…”
Liam cut him off, “Shut up.”
Peter knew what was coming. He looked at Riley through the rearview mirror, acting like a victim.“Riley, see? Liam’s always

Peter was speechless. He should have known she was on Liam’s side.
Ten minutes later, the car stopped at an alleyway.

He waved.“Don’t be so polite.”
Riley looked at Liam.“Goodbye then.” She got out, politely bidding farewell.“Drive safely. This road’s tricky.”
Þeter was delighted.“Are you worried about me?”
Riley just rolled her eyes. This guy was crazy. She ignored him and walked towards the nursing
home.
Liam watched her go, then heard Peter’s boastful voice.“She actually cares about me!”

Liam glared at him and opened the back door.“Get out.”
Peter was confused.“Why?”
“Get out of the car.” Liam was clearly annoyed.

Peter protested, “You made me drive, now you’re kicking me out? What’s your problem?” Liam sneered.“I said get out.”
“It’s freezing! You want me to take a cab? What happened to your conscience…”
The next second, Liam got out of the car and slammed the door shut. Peter was stunned. “Dude, are you crazy?”
Liam said coldly, “Drive yourself back.”
Peter was speechless. He hadn’t realized Liam was so petty.
Peter
Peter tried to appease him, “Hey, don’t be mad. It’s your car.”
Liam ignored him, walking towards the nursing home.
Riley checked the map. She felt like she was being followed. This area was remote. She quickened her
pace, but so did her stalker.
She stopped, turning around. Liam was standing by the road, pretending to look at his phone.
Riley felt frustrated.“Are you stalking me?”
Liam looked up, approaching her casually.“No.”
Riley didn’t believe him.“Then what are you doing here?”
Liam shrugged.“Just exploring the area. I just got back, everything is unfamiliar.” Riley said dryly, “Then keep exploring.”

“Aren’t you going to see your father? Keep going,” Liam said.
Riley turned and walked towards the building. Liam followed behind, maintaining a distance. At the entrance, Riley turned to Liam.“Are you visiting my dad?”
Liam hesitated. He hadn’t prepared to meet her parents. He’d come empty–handed. He blurted out, “Isn’t it a little early to meet your parents?”
Riley burst out laughing.“Then why are you following me?”
Liam said without thinking, “One of my friends got into a car accident; he’s paralyzed. I’m visiting him.”
Riley raised an eyebrow.“Your friend is paralyzed, here?”

She didn’t believe him. This was the worst nursing home in the area. Liam’s friends were all wealthy and influential; none of them wouldn’t be here.
Seeing her disbelief, Liam continued, “He went bankrupt.”
Riley didn’t call out his lie.“Oh, go see your friend then.” She added, “You know which ward he’s in, right?”
Liam
nodded.“Of course.” He turned and walked in the opposite direction. Riley wondered. Did he actually have a friend here?
