Had his boss suddenly developed a conscience and realized he’d been stealing too much of his personal time?
Was he actually thinking about giving him time off?
Philips quickly nodded. “Yes, sir. I’ve been with my girlfriend for about two years now. Things are going pretty well.”
Cassian nodded thoughtfully. “So if you screwed up and needed to apologize, what would you do?”
This was definitely Philips‘ area of expertise.
“You need to be genuine about it. When women are upset, they usually want more attention and care. So thoughtful gifts work, or planning a special date.”
Philips glanced at Cassian cautiously as he spoke.
Was his boss having relationship problems? Was this about the trending scandal?
As Cassian’s right–hand man, he should be able to help solve any issue.
Cassian looked distant, lost in thought. After hearing Philips‘ advice, he said directly, “Book me a private dining room. I need to plan a date for after
work.”
It suddenly hit Cassian that since getting married, he hadn’t done anything particularly romantic. He was definitely a novice in this department and needed to step up his game.
“Of course, sir. I’ll arrange everything,” Philips replied respectfully.
“Also, pick up some relationship advice books–you know, marriage guides, keeping the spark alive, that kind of thing.” Cassian added.
He figured he needed to study up on this stuff.
Philips looked momentarily stunned but quickly nodded. “Yes, sir.”
Then Philips went off to handle the arrangements.
After work that evening, Cassian called Rachel and told her to meet him across the street from her office when she got off work.
Rachel didn’t think much of it–Cassian occasionally picked her up when he didn’t have business dinners.
When she came out of the building, she glanced around to make sure no coworkers were nearby before quickly getting into his car.
Seeing her cautious behavior, Cassian smiled. “Am I really that embarrassing to be seen with?”
“It’s not that–you’re too impressive. If people saw us together, I’d become the subject of all kinds of gossip.”
Rachel figured it was better to avoid unnecessary drama.
The car pulled away from the curb and headed in the opposite direction from home.
“Aren’t we going home?” Rachel asked, noticing they were taking a different route.
Cassian cleared his throat, looking slightly embarrassed. “We’re going on a date tonight.”
A date?
Rachel felt her cheeks warm. She didn’t press for details, just settled back in her seat with anticipation.
Soon, the car stopped in front of a five–star hotel. Rachel stepped out gracefully, maintaining her composure despite her racing heart.
Chapter 109
Cassian got out and took her hand, leading her into the hotel.
Walking hand in hand with Cassian, Rachel felt nervous but mostly excited. Though they got along well at home, this was their first real formal date,
She stole a glance at his profile, which looked particularly striking under the hotel’s warm lighting, and felt her heart flutter.
They entered the hotel and Cassian led her directly to the rooftop restaurant.
The restaurant was elegantly appointed, with floor–to–ceiling windows showcasing the city’s glittering nighttime skyline.
Rachel was captivated by the view. “It’s absolutely beautiful,” she whispered.
Cassian smiled and pulled out her chair. “I’m glad you like it.”
Philips definitely deserved a bonus for this recommendation–he’d done,an excellent job!
