Chapter 7
When Logan arrived by the ocean, the Bloodaxe’s crew had already been completely driven back.
Only cold and lifeless bodies remained scattered across the scene.
Many of them Logan recognized–his brothers, the loyal followers I had helped him build from the ground up.
Logan felt a coldness creeping down his back as profound grief washed over him.
He dropped to his knees without hesitation, frantically turning over each body, praying none of them would be me.
When he realized I wasn’t among them, he lost it completely–screaming my name until his voice went raw, breaking down like I’d
never seen before.
Logan couldn’t comprehend how everything had gone to hell so fast.
It had all started so simply–he’d brought Marina into our lives, showered her with attention and affection, all so she could be my
human shield.
Every time he was with Marina, Logan wondered if he was going too far. But whenever he saw me curled up in his arms, blissfully
happy, he convinced himself I couldn’t live without him.
That’s what screwed him over in the end–he got drunk on having it both ways, soaking up my devotion while getting addicted to
Marina’s sweetness.
He never imagined it would lead him to make such catastrophic mistakes for her.
Logan stared down at his hands, still stained with blood–my blood, our baby’s blood.
Overwhelmed by regret, he began slapping himself repeatedly, his hands trembling with each strike.
He screamed at the ocean, at every dead face that wasn’t mine, repeating “I’m sorry” over and over, declaring his love again and
again.
But no one answered him anymore.
Only then did Logan truly understand–he had lost me forever.
Endless remorse consumed him, driving him to the brink of madness.
He wanted to hate, to blame everything on Marina, but he couldn’t. Deep down, he knew the truth–the person I hated was him.
Logan sat by the ocean’s edge until deep into the night.
When his tears finally dried, he couldn’t help but wonder if I felt the same despair during that month of silence between us, while he
and Marina planned their wedding.
He had Marina show off their relationship, to make their engagement public knowledge. He thought by letting everyone believe Marina was his wife, I would be safe–at least I wouldn’t be the primary target for those seeking revenge.
Now he finally realized how utterly foolish that strategy had been.
Logan’s eyes filled with regret and desolation.
According to his original plan, the wedding was supposed to be bait to lure the Alexandra’s out of hiding so he could destroy them once and for all. Then he could finally go legitimate and give me the peaceful life I wanted.

But now, it was too late for any of that.
At this very moment, I was hiding behind the rocks, watching Logan fall apart.
In the name of loving me, he had destroyed me and our child.
In the name of avenging me, he had killed Marina’s baby and thrown her into the sea.
Watching his cold and ruthless silhouette, I felt a cold run down my spine.
When I was thirteen, he found me by a dumpster.
Then he gave me a bowl of food and a home.
I worshipped him for it, seeing him as my only salvation.
Even when he forced me to have multiple abortions and I knew he was keeping another woman, I never thought about leaving him.
Not until that woman showed off in fornt of me directly.
Not until they announced their marriage.
Not until Logan threw her into the sea.
Only then did Lunderstand how pathetic his so–called love really was and realize that while he had given me life, but he’d also turned me into his accomplice in God knows how many crimes.
A month ago, I made two calls from the greenhouse.
First call went to the Bloodaxe family–Logan’s worst enemies.
Logan had been at war with them for years. I traded his intel for their help faking my death in the sea.
The second call was to Gavin Thorn.
He was the only one who warned me when Logan brought Marina home, and the only one who ever spoke up for me in Logan’s
presence.
I asked him to show Logan the evidence when the time was right.
Just like I knew he would, Logan came running to the sea the second he saw the proof.
I closed my eyes–this nightmare all be over soon.
