Chapter 116
I touched his arm and traced the reddened skin, they had beaten him black and blue. Then his red swollen shoulder caught my eye. I slowly slid down his shirt from his shoulder, exposing a nasty bite mark. My hand trembled. A sick, possessive rage curled in my gut. No one was allowed to mark him but me.
I breathed out frustratedly and got off his bed before I did something stupid, like fucking kill motherfucker without torturing his ass. No. He didn’t deserve an easy death. He’d scream. He’d bleed. And only then, maybe, I’d let him die.
I descended the stairs but stopped as I heard my father’s voice. I looked towards the entrance and my father along with Antonio entered my home. The air turned heavier.
Pops looked pissed off as he glared at me. The wedding didn’t happen and that must have made him crazier than he already was. I knew what was coming, a long–ass lecture about taking on my responsibilities like a man. A lecture I’d heard all my damn life.
He gave me a curt nod, gesturing toward my study before he walked off and entered without me. Arrogant bastard.
“He is pissed…” Antonio voiced.
“Do I look like I fucking care, Antonio?” I snapped at him. My voice came out rougher than I intended. My patience was razor–thin.
Antonio breathed out, putting his hands in his pockets. “Can I ask you something?”
“Yeah?”
He hesitated a lot before he asked. “How is he?”
“I don’t know. The doctor said he will physically heal in three to six weeks.” But emotional wounds like his, those don’t heal. Not without scars.
He scratched the back of his neck and then swallowed,
“Was he… was he assaulted… sexually?”
“I don’t know yet…” Saying those words tasted like bile.
“Can I see him?”
“He is unconscious.”
“I know… I just want to see him myself if that’s okay with you.”
I gave him a nod before I followed my father into my study.
“You left… you left your fiancé in front of our whole family and ran back to New York. You breached the contract I signed
with Paul—”
I cut him off. “I did not breach any contract. I’m still wearing Leah’s ring around my finger. It was just a delay, nothing else.”

Chapter 116
“A delay?! A delay?!”
“Paul and Leah Salvatore should know that Cosa Nostra is my life, my family, my duty will always be before anything.”
Father chuckled nastily and scratched his beard. He went over to the mini–bar. He poured himself a glass of whiskey and drank it in one go. “But you didn’t come back for your duty or your family. You came back for the boy.. the same boy I told you to get rid of.”
I let out a dry breath. “And I told you that I don’t take orders from you anymore.”
He was furious but I didn’t care anymore. I’m not letting him out of my sight again. Not after what happened. Not after that room, that blood.
“What do you plan on doing? Keeping your wife and your gay in the same house?!”
“I will keep Leah away from him,” I answered. My voice was ice.
“Are you even listening to yourself? You should keep that boy away from your wife, not the other way around!”
“After our marriage, Leah will move to Sicily, to our family home.”
“You will move with her?”
“I don’t plan on it.”
“What are you suggesting?”
I heaved a sigh. A muscle in my jaw ticked as I looked my father in the eyes. “You signed this contract and I told you that I will not break this contract. After our marriage what I plan on doing to my wife is none of your or any other men’s concern,” I buttoned my suit jacket.
“Now if you will excuse me, I have work to do.”
