Ulrik didn’t know how things at the Bloodscar Border would unfold.
Lycan Erasmus hadn’t taken action yet, but he’d already dispatched surveillance on the Bloodmoon Pack
It was certain that if the capital’s situation changed, the Bloodmoon Pack would be affected.
The new Lycan King of the Western Tribes didn’t care about face like Lycan Erasmus.
While others enjoyed the glory, Ulrik could only scrape by.
In this moment, he felt utter despair and recalled Velda’s words. She just wanted success, which was truly difficult.
He gazed up at those people, as if looking at his former self and Velda.

In this setting, he stood proudly, watching his two sons kneel before him and say, “We’re sorry for the family’s sake; we’re finally back.”
He wanted to cry but forced a smile, helped them up, and said, “I’m always proud of you.”

Alger held Magnus and wept uncontrollably. Alger, usually playful and cheerful, had no dignity today. He cried like a child in his brother’s arms, completely forgetting his upcoming mating ceremony.
Adelaide watched them, thinking she’d never see her loved ones again, but joyously reunited.
Tears streamed down her face.
She knew such happiness would never be hers. She’d never see her father and brothers again.
The world’s cruelty lay in how close familial bonds could be severed, one by one, with no chance of
reunion.
Back at the pack, she secluded herself in her room.
After rejoicing for others, she was left with her own sorrow.

Lance longed to be by her side but understood she needed time alone to process her feelings.
So, he sat on the doorstep, preventing others from disturbing her.
Only when Adelaide had regained her composure and changed her clothes did he stand up, take her hand, and notice the remnants of tears in her eyes.
Gently wiping her eyes, he said, “Let’s go see Priscilla”
“Actually, I was just thinking the same,” Adelaide replied with a smile, her post–cry grin tinged with fragility, tugging at Lance’s heart.
Priscilla was wiping her tears, listening to Susan report on the festivities outside.
She envied the commoners who could join in the celebrations.
Lately, she’d heard many stories about these heroes, deeply moved by their deeds.
But her tears now weren’t for the joy outside. They were for Adelaide, who had locked herself away upon returning to the pack.
Priscilla knew why Adelaide was upset–the joyous reunions didn’t include her, as her father and brother had perished in different battles.
“Come here!” Priscilla beckoned to Adelaide, who approached respectfully, and patted the spot beside her.
As Adelaide approached, Priscilla pulled her into an embrace.
With a gentle tug, Adelaide found herself semi–kneeling into Priscilla’s embrace.
Sitting down, Priscilla held Adelaide close, her voice choked with emotion, “You can always consider me your mother, your family. I’ll protect you forever.”
Adelaide had initially resisted, trying to shift her position for easier breathing.
But Priscilla’s words struck a chord, leaving her defenseless.
Her heart swelled with mixed emotions, and her eyes welled up.
She never expected Priscilla, who had always been sheltered by Clarissa, to offer such maternal comfort.
She recalled that Priscilla hadn’t particularly liked her in the past.
She felt a lump in her throat.
Honestly, at forty–something, Priscilla’s figure was remarkably well–preserved. It almost took her breath
away.
Lance watched, regretting he hadn’t been the one to comfort Adelaide first.
Susan wiped her tears, relieved that Priscilla was showing compassion.

“I went but didn’t see Lycan Erasmus. Clarissa had me visit Pandora; she’s ill. I don’t know what Clarissa and Lycan Erasmus discussed,” Priscilla replied.
“Pandora’s ill?” Lance looked up.
“Yes, very ill. The doctor says she’s not doing well. Germainhas applied to Lycan Erasmus to return to the capital with his family to care for her,” Priscilla explained.
“Did Lycan Erasmus approve it?” Lance inquired.
