Manager Monroe wasn’t looking down on Amelia.
It was just that the Cromwell family was always very low–key and didn’t like to make a fuss. The young masters of the Cromwell family, whenever they went out to the world, never revealed their true identities as Cromwell heirs. This time in LA, they were only trying to bring back the Seventh Miss quietly, without drawing attention.
The idea of having his own blunder expose Mr. Cromwell’s identity had frightened him. If the other prominent families in LA found out that Mr. Cromwell had arrived, they would have swarmed him, and his health might have been jeopardized. His illness could not be exposed!
Amelia, however, saw everything clearly but didn’t say anything.
As a doctor, she was bound by an obligation to keep her patients‘ identities confidential. Regardless of who the person was, to her, they were simply a patient.
But Amelia couldn’t help feeling puzzled. Why had the Cromwell family chosen to look for their missing daughter in a small neighborhood like Community?

Before she had time to think more, the car pulled up at the Medical University.
Inside the affiliated hospital’s inpatient department, Room 601, the VIP ward, Mr. Cromwell lay on the bed, his face scrunched in pain. His fever had left him delirious. He had been coughing relentlessly, and his muttering echoed in the room. “Little Seven… where are you? Grandpa misses you so much…”
the Cromwell family’s doctors were competent, but the symptoms baffled them, and they couldn’t determine the cause right away.
Seeing Mr. Cromwell fall into unconsciousness only worsened the situation, and the family grew desperate, asking the hospital to hurry and call Dr.Adler.
After all, a specialist with international recognition would surely have a solution!
Evelyn, however, was already troubled by the matter with Serene Health Pavilion and wasn’t in a good mood when the hospital asked her to work overtime. “Just register first. Does everyone really think they can get an appointment with me just because they ask?”
“This doctor… the old man’s condition is serious, and his symptoms are quite tricky. I’m worried he could be in life- threatening danger.”

Evelyn scoffed, “Then refuse the consultation! Let him go to another hospital.”
“This might not be a good idea…” The attending junior doctor hesitated. “We should prioritize saving the patient.”
Evelyn sneered, “You’re teaching me how to do my job now?”
The young doctor quickly apologized, softening his tone, “It’s someone from New York, Doctor. Should we go see them?”
New York? Regardless of status, if someone came from New York, it was worth a visit. Evelyn pursed her lips, “Fine, tell the family to wait.”
“Alright!”
Although Evelyn agreed to go, her actions were slow and hesitant, and she didn’t arrive immediately.
Outside the room, the Cromwell family’s doctor was pacing, frustrated and helpless. They had no choice but to turn to the Jenkins family for help.
Just then, a panicked shout came from inside the room.
“Not good! The patient’s heart and lungs are weakening rapidly!”

“Where are the family members? We need the family to sign the consent form!”
the Cromwell family’s doctor was drenched in cold sweat, unsure of what to do. Should they contact the eldest young master? But it would take at least six hours for someone from
New York to arrive…
The other doctors continued to shout, “We need to perform surgery, but we need the family’s signature!”
The hallway was filled with chaos as doctors and nurses rushed in and out.
Amelia, arriving with Manager Monroe, saw this scene immediately upon stepping into the corridor.
Manager Monroe, realizing the situation had taken a turn for the worse, grabbed the pale–faced Cromwell family doctor. “What’s going on?”
the Cromwell family doctor’s eyes were bloodshot, his voice shaky. “The chairman… he might not make it.”
“Not make it?” Manager Monroe stammered. “That’s impossible! Didn’t they say it was just a simple cold?”

the Cromwell family doctor shook his head. “It started as a cold, but as you know, the chairman’s lungs have always been weak. After the long journey and all the recent stress from searching for the Seventh Miss, his condition worsened.”
“Well, treat him, then!” Manager Monroe shouted angrily. “Do you want the chairman to die on our watch?”
“I don’t want that either, but there’s nothing I can do. Dr.Adler still hasn’t shown up. I’ve never seen symptoms like this, and with the chairman in this state…”
“I’ll try,” Amelia interrupted him calmly. Her beautiful eyes peered through the window at the elderly man lying on the bed, struggling with death.
